Adoring you from the U.S.! You've wonderful stitching skills, are an entertaining speaker, are beautiful, and have wonderful taste in projects. As both a stitcher and a teacher, you are a kindred spirit. Thank you for sharing with us!
Wow! Thank you - such nice things to hear in a generally dismal time. Thinking of you all in the US over the coming months with election time approaching!
Great video...from your favorite Sampler’s on a CD...to your stitching and FFOS...and your dyeing with walnut crystals...hope your teaching is safe and happy stitching ❣️
Just discovered you and I have been watching new one and now skipping back to the beginning. Love you and your presentations! My mom and dad immigrated to America from Scotland many many years ago. He from Buckie and she from Edinburgh. He called her the English woman🤗 I live near Atlanta, Georgia
Michelle, new subscriber here from the U.S. - what a delight you are to listen to and watch, and you have a sparkling sense of humor! Fascinating dyeing experiments! Thank you for making your videos!
Beautiful finishes and I love your channel. I will definitely be coming back often to watch you. Loved your fabric dying video with walnut crystals. And your hairstyle is divine.
Thanks Roberta....I've grown out a pixie cut over lockdown and whilst I would love to go short again, I can't get to the hairdresser often enough to maintain it at the moment!
Absolutely LOVE listening to you chat about needlework and this and that. I've only just started watching you but have gone back and started from the beginning and you have some of the most clever ideas! Those wooden doorknobs are perfect for that finish. Looking forward to seeing that! Thank you for sharing your dyeing with us. really lovely results. I'm in the US so I am hoping I can find walnut crystals here.

Enjoyed your video so much! Love your ideas of using the door-knobs for finishing. But your dyeing tips was the highlight this week for me. Please keep up the good work I look forward to seeing you next week.
I'm watching your videos backwards because I just found you your stitching is beautiful. My husband is a teacher as well so it is interesting to hear how you have to do things. It sure is hard. He is a metal shop teacher. its all hands on so distancing is not easy to do. I look forward to seeing more of your stitching

I love what you are doing with your mom. My mom is in her 80s and doesn’t need one more thing, so each month I take her out for Mother/daughter day. We have lunch and shop. My husband and I went to London for our anniversary 3 years ago. We rented a car so he could get me to the castle. It was a great day.
That sounds lovely! My mum is like that..she either has everything she needs or buys it for herself so it was a great option! Lovely memories for me too!
I do all my own framing, self-taught. I buy old frames or photo frames from charity shops or from the recycling centre. I keep the vintage gold ones as is and paint others in a matt black. It doesn't worry me that I don't have equidistance from the edge of my work to the edge of the frame or that I don't have equal space top to bottom from side by side. Some of my frames are as little as 50p. Love saving to put the money towards linen and threads. Love your framing.
Just found your channel and loved all your stitching. I have just started a hands across the sea sampler so have fallen down the sampler rabbit hole. I’ve had a lovely evening stitching whilst listening to all your videos 😉
Wonderful video chock full of information- I literally have walnut crystals on the way before I watched this video. Your experiments couldn’t be more timely- thank you! I had to giggle when you said the students need to see if you are happy, sad or cross! 🤣🤣. Love your Blackbird finish- beautiful! You can never go wrong with a Hands across the Sea pattern!! So well done! The new normal pattern is amazing! I have to say it’s on my wishlist! Darn it! You might be the best enabler yet!!! 🤣🤦♀️
Thank you for sharing your beautiful projects. I kept pausing you to go shopping. Thanks for the dying advice. One of my orders was the walnut crystals.
Hi Michelle, love your videos! Thanks for the lesson on walnut shells, going to try them. I from Wisconsin, USA and always knew I Irish (Fleming) and Scottish ( mom was a Campbell) but did Ancestry.com DNA and discover more Welsh and English😀
I have so enjoyed your videos and can't believe you haven't been doing them for years. You're a natural. I was completely blown away when you showed the marbled fabric. It is stunning.
Really enjoyed the dye comparison you did with the walnut crystals. I’ve only used them once. It was a Stacy Nash piece. The walnut dye was used to age the piece after you stitched it. I blotted the dye on with a sponge brush. Kept adding until it looked just right!
Thank you, I’m so happy to find you and all the Flosstubers! I’ve been crossstitching for over 40 years. I’m so glad to find a community of other stitchers.
Another viewer who found you from the mention by Brenda and Laura. I really enjoyed your videos. Great tips and great projects. Can’t wait to see more!
Homesteading on the Homefront Hi - thanks for the watch. I tend to do whatever Amy says too...we seem to have similar tastes ! 😂 I’m loving FlossTube- it’s so welcoming!
Great video... Love your dying with walnut crystals info, really clear and easy to understand. Long Dogs are their own category, Jools' catalogue of designs is as varied as it is long. Hope your journey into the new normal is as smooth as stitching silks on linen ❤️
Great video Michelle. Thanks for all the information on fabric dying. I’ll definitely have to give it a go. Very ingenious to use the door knobs to hang your cross stitch!
I love the idea of hanging over those door knobs, clever! I’ve enjoyed seeing your samplers, thank you also for sharing tips on dyeing with walnut crystals. X
Thanks for sharing your projects and science experiments on floss tube! The dyeing information was very interesting - I've tried coffee and tea dyeing with a bit of success, but may now try the walnut crystals. I stitched Lydia Sharp this year - she's pretty in person with bright colors - pinks and salmon and blue. The border is great with LOTS of queen stitches - very fun. I also like Elizabeth Powell from SANQ - she needs a total color makeover, but the border is pretty and sort of reminds me of the borders on your Barbara Ana and Baltimore Album pieces.
So happy to watch your video for the first time! I’m Carla and I live in Alabama , USA. I started out of order but no worries as I’ll be happy to pick up the other 2 videos and see what I missed. Love all your stitching and want to make sweet Scarlett now. Thanks for the dyeing tips. I’ll be checking for walnut crystals immediately. Oh, and your sampler is beautiful!
Carla Rowley Hi Carla thanks for your comment! I can’t wait to start on Scarlett, I want the whole menagerie! Definitely try the walnut crystals- they are so easy with brilliant results!
Enjoyed watching your video and love 💕 all your ffo’s and wips. Love 💕 all the charts you have an amazing collection 😍. I also think 💭 your door 🚪 knobs is a great 👍 idea 💡 can’t wait to see your finish. Have a great week and happy stitching 🧵😊❤️🤗
I love your primitive tool boxes! So dang cute with those heart handles! Now, off to find the cd rom because my maiden name is Ledbetter. Story is there was a misspelling in the crossing trip. Momma and I watched a special on Highclere castle a few weeks ago. ❤️❤️❤️
That's really interesting - what a story! Hope you can find the CD, there are so many excellent ones on there! I've just bought the threads for Maria Dale.
Your English humour and Witt is the best ever 🤣😂🤣 So much awesome information in this instalment, thank you for sharing. I just bought my first hank of floss and am going to try braiding it. Brilliant. The dying process is so interesting. What a great idea to use old fabric to practice on first. Excellent tip on the crushed walnut shells. The Samplers are gorgeous, of course I’ve ordered the CD 💿 🤓 Till next time 🙋♀️
I so enjoy your videos, lovely stitching! You showed a piece of fabric that you dyed that had a hint of blue in it as well as the walnut crystal color. It was absolutely beautiful, would you mind sharing that process also please? Not sure it was this vid, or one of your others. Thank you for sharing, and your generosity. Cindi USA. 😊
HI Cindi - I think that is the piece I'm using for Halloween Alphabet. That piece would have been a jar dye using Rit dye. I can't remember the colours but you pop it in the first colour, and then empty it and over pour the second colour. I'm thinking of doing some videos...I'm no expert but I think I can show people my methods
Great video! This was both enjoyable and very informative, and for that I thank you. I appreciate your tips on dyeing, stuffing (walnut shells), and about the CD from Sampler and Antique Needlework. Your Theodore the Cat is absolutely wonderfully done, I love it! Hope things continue to go well for you at school, and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Michelle, Thanks for this. The Derby gallery was new to me, so that’s very useful. Perhaps you could put links to the framers’ web sites in a future video, under a heading like “viewers suggestions” ? That way you clearly avoid any suggestion of endorsing the framers yourself. Best wishes. Keep up the good work, Liz. PS I think a lot of people frame there own pieces but now I am getting on a bit (73) I find it difficult to frame large pieces myself.
Another great video. Love your pumpkin piece finish and all the samplers you showed. Your tips on dying fabric were very interesting I really want to try that sometime. Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe and happy stitching.
Thanks for another great video Michelle. I love all your finishes and WIPs and potential new starts!! Super hearing you explain things too. Highclere is on my list - I have watched the whole Downton series about 4 times!! Thank you again.
Lovely video! I've always loved samplers and stitched many in the 80's and 90's. More recently, amongst others, I've stitched Hoity Toity, a very colourful and enjoyable stitch. The new Longdog is wonderful, I'm terribly tempted. Your silk colour is beautiful. So nice to find someone else who isn't crazy about cats. 😂🤗 The knobs are great! I think the word you're looking for, for the type of shop you bought them in, is bric-a-brac 🙂
@@mommalovesyougb I'm not sure as I didn't work on it monogamously. It was quite an intense stitch though. It's not huge..maybe a few months in continuous stitching terms.
First time I have watched your FlossTube and found it very inspiring and full of great tips and information and lots of beautiful projects. I love the door knobs and I am keen to try dying with walnut. Going to watch your other videos now.
I loved your thoughts on and trials with t he walnut crystals. I may try them. I do use the crushed walnut shells often mixing with the fiber fill for a fuller feel. I enjoy your videos. Thank you.
Another great video. The pumpkin piece is really beautiful! Really enjoyed the sampler patterns you featured as well. Thank you for sharing the tips on dyeing fabrics and taking the time to show four different techniques. Hope you have a wonderful week and are able to get in some stitching time.
Thanks so much Merritt. I love dyeing fabric so it’s fun for me to try different techniques! I’d still love to be able to mimic Murky; I’ve never got it quite right! Have a good stitchy week!!
Loved the video. I love how the walnut crystal dyeing looked so much I paused the video and placed an order for some of my own. 😀 Can't wait to try it out for myself!
Hi Michelle. Another great flosstube. Found you the other day and I’ve loved all the videos you showed so far. I’m a beginner stitcher in love with all samplers, I want to start all of them at once 😱 Thanks for sharing your techniques on dyeing fabric. I will give it a go for sure. Have a great weekend 🌻🍂
MommaLovesYouGB Michelle Hi Michelle. I’m contemplating, His eyes is on the sparrow, Pandemic and Oh joyous day. But didn’t start yet. I’ve already have six WIPs and I’m feeling a bit stressed about starting another one. This hobby for me is to relax not to get stressed, so I may wait until I finish one or two before starting another one I think. I’m a beginner and slow to stitch and all my projects are big it will take a long time before I can finish them. Anyway I’m enjoying what I’m stitching now. Hope you’re stitching lots over the weekend, I am 🥰 take care 💐😘
Great video! Very informative! I have to get that CD. Someone said that when Lizzie Kate was retiring that 123 Stitch bought the rights to their charts. So we can find them there. Thank you for the tips on the dying process.
It is a real treasure trove! I’d heard that about 123 stitch but also that they didn’t necessarily have all of them. I’m not 100% sure as being in the UK I only shop with them occasionally. I’ve finished stitching it now and I’m pleased with how it’s turned out.
I love old door knobs! It started with one I picked up on Portobello Rd. Just thinking of it’s history and that it must have survived blitz! It’s a treasure. Your work will look great using your door knob as a hanger
You, my dear, are a natural! I’ve watched this video and your first so far. Excellent job, excellent topics, great lighting! Loved it all! Now have a question about the walnut stain. How would this work if I wanted to overdye, say, a blue fabric like Dwarf from PTP. Would this overpower the blue totally, or create a nice wash?
Hi Jan! Nice to hear from you 😀The truth is I’m not 100% sure. Sometimes it can be hard to get dye to ‘stick’ onto fabrics that have been dyed and fixed but walnut is a substantive dye so you don’t need any mordant. It generally stains very quickly so I would say it’s likely that it would dye PTP. The dye takes well so I it wouldn’t need long. You could make some up and try a small corner first. I use 1/4 tsp of walnut crystals in 1 cup of water, but you could dilute that further to get the wash you are after. Hope this helps. Stay well and happy stitching 😀
Hi Michelle. Your videos are brilliant; I’m really enjoying them. We had a little exchange of comments after video #1, so thank you for all the information you gave in #2 about UK suppliers; that’s been really helpful. You have a fantastic selection of work and I am all admiration for your finishing. Downsizing from a large family home to a two bed flat there is not so much wall space, so I thought that ‘smalls’ would be the way to go - except I forgot I would have to ‘finish’ them 🙄 - badly 😬 Stay well.
The more finishing you do, the better it gets! I’ve not got a massive amount of wall space so I think im going to have to swap and change my projects from time to time ❤️
MommaLovesYouGB Michelle Yep, thinking about it, my finishing couldn’t get any worse so it just has to get better - you’re right! I have to swap some of my stuff around too.
Another great informative video Michelle. I hope you can help me with finding the Vintage and Antique Needlework cd? I have looked and looked with no luck, I must be naming it wrong I think. I had to stop your video several times as you spoke so fast I missed it lol(and I'm from G.B lol). Previously I said how co didn't you were in front of the camera and when you said you were a teacher it totally explained it. Take care🤗

Hi I’m enjoying your Flosstubes and seeing someone in the UK too. I am particularly interested to know where you get your Victorian Motto flosses from please? Thanking you in anticipation.
Pauline Dutton Hi Pauline ...I get my VM direct from Nancy in the US. I pay a subscription every month and have it shipped every two months to reduce the shipping cost. Glad you are enjoying my FlossTube 😀
Just found your video’s and am really enjoying them!! Harriet Coe Sampler, you said was done on 28ct, is that over 2 threads or 1 and did you use 1 thread or 2. Love yours, I will have to track the pattern down, I would really like to do it!! Your dyeing demonstration was great, thanks so much! Loved the door knob idea!! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hi, I did Harriette 2 floss threads over 2 linen threads on 28 count (the original sampler is quite large so I went with it) and I’m pleased with it. There is some stitching done with 1 thread over 1 right at the bottom. ❤️
We both love the same kind of “stuff.” I collect door knobs and old key plates the door knobs go through. I hang the plates above my door ways in a crooked line. Love your Sampler picks as we are stitching Anna Thies. I know your face but not sure where I have seen you. Do you still live in England? I will look forward to many more videos of your beautiful work.
Morrisonmercantile-prim Sharon Morrison Hi Sharon, I live in West Wales now but originally I’m from the Cotswolds so maybe somewhere there? Your key plates sound a great display, what a good idea? I really want to start Anna Thies but I’m making myself finish a couple first!

Frank Kelly Thanks Angela. That’s so lovely of you to say so. I buy my Rit from my local craft shop but I have seen it on Amazon and eBay. If you are looking for stash groups you go onto Facebook and put cross stitch in the search bar then some of the results will be groups for selling stash which you can join. 😀

Really enjoyed the dye comparison you did with the walnut crystals. I’ve only used them once. It was a Stacy Nash piece. The walnut dye was used to age the piece after you stitched it. I blotted the dye on with a sponge brush. Kept adding until it looked just right!
Thank you for your dyeing tutorial!! Your set of door knobs for a hanger is brilliant! 😊
Thank you, I’m so happy to find you and all the Flosstubers! I’ve been crossstitching for over 40 years. I’m so glad to find a community of other stitchers.
This community is amazing!
Loved your antique door knobs! The dyeing techniques was outstanding!! So glad I came across your floss tube...Thank you
Thanks so much! 😊
Another viewer who found you from the mention by Brenda and Laura. I really enjoyed your videos. Great tips and great projects. Can’t wait to see more!
Thanks so much! I’ve very much enjoyed your videos too!
EF Sampler is so wonderful. Thank you for all the information on dyeing fabric. Like your scarf.
Carol Osborn thanks so much Carol! That EF sampler is amazing, I need to finish a couple of things first and then it’s definitely getting kitted!
Your Jane Marshall is gorgeous! The colors really pop.
Thanks..I do like her on a darker linen. I tend to go abbot darker on most of my samplers. Thanks for watching!
Here because Amy said I'd love you and she was right! Welcome to Flosstube. So glad you decided to jump in!
She's such a fab designer - I've no idea how she does it! Thanks
Great video Michelle. Thanks for all the information on fabric dying. I’ll definitely have to give it a go. Very ingenious to use the door knobs to hang your cross stitch!
Love those cross stitch and antique sampler magazines. I stitched Anna theis and others from the magazines
They are amazing! I really like Punchneedle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine for the same reason!
I love the idea of hanging over those door knobs, clever! I’ve enjoyed seeing your samplers, thank you also for sharing tips on dyeing with walnut crystals. X
Glad it was helpful!
Ooh I’ll have to go and check her out! She sounds lovely. I may start Maria Dale soon as I’ve found a lovely colour for her
So happy to watch your video for the first time!
Theresa Chucle thanks so much! Have a good stitchy week yourself 😀
I love watching you! Love your ideas and projects! Happy Stitching!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you for sharing😀 Love the doorknob idea too!
Love all of your work and enjoy listening to your stories. Can’t wait until you post again!! Got my notifications turned on 😀
Yay! Thank you! Hopefully filming again this weekend
Your English humour and Witt is the best ever 🤣😂🤣
So much awesome information in this instalment, thank you for sharing. I just bought my first hank of floss and am going to try braiding it. Brilliant.
The dying process is so interesting. What a great idea to use old fabric to practice on first.
Excellent tip on the crushed walnut shells.
The Samplers are gorgeous, of course I’ve ordered the CD 💿 🤓
Till next time 🙋♀️
See you again soon Heather! Thanks for your lovely comments!
Elizabeth Corsini Thanks Elizabeth...that CD is truly epic so it was very easy to show!
Thanks Sandra. You should definitely try dyeing...it’s so addictive!
I also found you through Brenda and Laura. Went back to the start and watched all your videos. Look forward to the next one. Cheers from Australia
Hello to Australia! Thanks for watching ❤️
Another superb video. Love all the samplers you have shown and thank you again for the linen shout out 💕
Thanks for another great video Michelle. I love all your finishes and WIPs and potential new starts!! Super hearing you explain things too. Highclere is on my list - I have watched the whole Downton series about 4 times!! Thank you again.
It’s definitely worth a visit Susan. I wish I’d booked a cream tea too...they looked amazing!
The knobs are great! I think the word you're looking for, for the type of shop you bought them in, is bric-a-brac 🙂
Karen Jorgen-Jensen Bric a brac!! Definitely- always makes me think of Last of the Summer Wine! I love Hoity Toity! How long did it take you?? 😀
Thanks Sharee....definitely try the walnut! It’s so easy and you get great results!
Loved spending time with you. Brenda and Laura sent me too. 💕
Thanks Ruth. I hope you enjoyed!
Another superb video, a treat to watch, thank you! Great info.
Loved the video. I love how the walnut crystal dyeing looked so much I paused the video and placed an order for some of my own. 😀 Can't wait to try it out for myself!
You are so welcome! I'm sure that you will enjoy dyeing with walnut crystals...its so easy and quick!
Thanks so much for commenting Edina. Have you chosen a sampler to start? Which one did you go for?
Enjoyed your video very much! Thank you for your dyeing tutorial!!!
It was emensely informative and very helpful. You are great!!! 😁😁
I love the door knob hanger idea!
Thank you! Love your haul! ❤️
Cracked up at the comment, I wanted it distressed, not panic stricken* Enjoyed your video and your stitching!
Thanks for showing some techniques for dyeing fabric! Definitely going need to try them out. Loved seeing all of the samplers as well!
Thanks so much!
I love old door knobs! It started with one I picked up on Portobello Rd. Just thinking of it’s history and that it must have survived blitz! It’s a treasure. Your work will look great using your door knob as a hanger
Another lovely episode 😊
Great floss tube Michelle ❤️❤️❤️
@@mommalovesyougb Thanks Michelle! I going to see if the Michael’s here by us carries the crystals and give it a try.
@@JanHicksCreates Cool - let me know how you get on!!
Thanks so much for 🙏information got my dc today love it thanks so much 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Hi Michelle.
I’ve not got a massive amount of wall space so I think im going to have to swap and change my projects from time to time ❤️
MommaLovesYouGB Michelle
Yep, thinking about it, my finishing couldn’t get any worse so it just has to get better - you’re right! I have to swap some of my stuff around too.
Jean Cairns Bless you! I’m sure your work is lovely!
Love the videos. Thanks. To your list of shops, you might want to add West End Embroidery who seem to carry a very good range of silk threads. Liz
ELIZABETH JOYNER Hi Liz! They definitely do ...and I’ve bought from them before. I’ll remember to mention them next time! Thanks for watching 😀
Take care🤗

My birthday is July 28th also. I Neicie Lynnn I agree she really can weave a tale.
Birthday twin!!
Loving watching these michelle! X
Been to highclere.. stunning, I've met them both !! Loved going there. Downton abbey. I loved to...
love your video, awesome
Hi Michelle, I enjoyed your video! Thanks for the tips about dyeing with the crystals - that sounds very interesting. That new Long Dog - I am so tempted by it but I already have the Templar Prophecy on the go. Instagram has been hard on my bank balance too!
Fiona Gartland Hi Fiona...I have Templar Prophecy but I haven’t started it yet. I’m thinking red, which is partly what made me pick blue for The New Normal
Lovely video...just found you!!
Yay! Thank you!
Hi Michelle thank you for another excellent floss tube I have really been enjoying them the dieing is something I really want to try I prefer 18count Aida as my eyes aren’t great and am not sure how to get rit die here I can get Dylon but haven’t got to it yet when you talk of stash unload how do I find it I am not very tech savvy and have to get one of my kids help please keep the format you are using so consider and informative you are great thank you Angela in ireland 🇮🇪 🙂
Didn't quite catch the Etsy shop for Perfect Pumpkins....can you pass that info along? Enjoy your videos 🧡
Hi, it’s from Owl Forest Embroidery. If you google ‘Owl Forest Embroidery English’ you’ll get the site in English. Go to charts and then free charts and you’ll find it there. Enjoy! It’s a great stitch ❤️
