- For everybody working with automotive transmission and hard part turning, there is a reason to choose our new generation CBN grades - CB7125 and CB7135. They are optimized for medium to heavy interrupted cuts. They deliver longer and more stable tool life, good surface finish and consistent dimensional tolerances, even at higher cutting parameters. they are indeed great for a finish pass on hardened materials, and thats why they are about $150 a pop!
Good lord. For interupted cuts we use a groove tool pushing in and out!
I always figured if a DCGT did something like this it would just explode unless it was like. Aluminum
i use these inserts regularly to refinish hardened surfaces... for stupid reasons, but those are awsome
Yeah, interrupted cutting on hard parts.
If the finish doesn't matter, this is great.
I enjoyed helping companies with jobs like this, pushing what is considered to be the limits of what can be accomplished is my jam
Cooked the tip on that first cut, I can see the heat discoloration.
Did you see the shavings in slomo instantly cooked them
Yeah surface looked pretty glazed too
Almost like they were running without coolant so the video would, you know, actually show anything at all for the sales pitch.
almost like hard turning runs at ridiculously high temp in order to preheat and plasticize the materials 🤯
How heavy-duty of a machine do you need to be able to do this? Or can I just buy the inserts and go?
I need this right now.
how about showing the insert after machining?
CBN tip is gone
Yeah CBN doesn’t like an interrupted cut. That one wasn’t so bad since it basically had a lead in and out radius.
@@Thewaldo12345 There are many different types of PCBN grades. Some don't manage interruptions very well and others do. As for carbide. I work for a competitor with PCBN everyday and supply PCBN inserts to these kinds of operations at high volume customers.
You can tell by the chattered finish its crap. I hard turn all day long and you'll never hold a tolerance or see any insert life cutting like that.
We are living at the times when materials and technology are almost magic for normal people. 90% will never catch the cutting edge. So it's just like it has been for ever.
Whats the cutting edge now?
@@forloop7713 It's probably something much better than the thing you thinking about.
I like the music choice
Awesome, what's the cimparative costof solid CBNt vs performance coated carbide, per volume to produce ?
I want to buy it
0:15.. and finally cut
there you go UA-cam I saw it
Awesome!
But..... will it cut inconel 718 🤔
userwl2850 CBN will be able to cut Inconel 718 but insert grade may be different.
is there any insert for reshape the Cbn wheels(diamond wheels) for special jobs?
Amazing company
But only in the dream
I can buy this tools
Also try holding a .0002 tolerance ...
nmbr1aaron we do it everyday on millions of hardened pm parts with cbn
@@rickkilhoffer5693 I've been told this a million times as well. Many reps at the shop saying their insert will hold up on hardened steel with an interrupted cut. Now yes they will hold up but not enough to hold a .0002 tolerance.. what inserts and parameters are you using?
We use Sumitomo bn7500 150 smm at .100 mm per rev. In a automotive transmission and transfer case factory.
@@rickkilhoffer5693 I'll look into it.. we are a tool and die shop, so tight tolerances are always there. Thanks.
One more question, what kind of material and hardness are we talking?
Эльбор, кубический нитрид бора.
Bit of an overkill on the music..
No, the music is perfect
You ever listen to metal cutting with an aggressive feed/ speed and no lubrication? This music is far more pleasant, I assure you.
👌👍✊
Perfecto
Music??
yes, music.
You are doing it wrong. Insert should move from inside out on that gear ;)
Tamas Strezi doesn’t make any difference
I agree moving from the inside to the outside keeps the tool nose from taking the brunt of the cut. That is interupted cutting 101. Always protect the tool nose as much as possible preferable with a large lead angle.

Nice edge you ha.. and it's gone.
kuat bangit yo
Soundtrack please....

Shut up, and take my money!

Ну ничо не скажешь
Sand pack es no bueno
Is this a brazed CBN or whole CBN insert?
