The reason you have to avoid touching the bulb is because it will leave finger prints on the bulb. Since the filaments operate at such high temperatures, it will cause the glass to heat up unevenly at a very high rate and it will cause the glass to break. As a mechanic, I wear clean rubber gloves to protect the bulb and usually clean the bulbs with alcohol before installing. Thank you for another great vid! WHO-TEE-WHO!
Your opening statement shows how much you care for human… and that you understand the knowledge you gained isn’t easily accessible to a lot of people. You seem like a great person
Oil from your hands gets on the bulb, when the lights turn on it superheats the oil causing it to melt and explode. Use plastic gloves when working with lights. Standard for any lighting industry. Thanks for the video! I needed that 😃
My girlfriend has the same car. I have to replace a tail light bulb and came across your video. It's always nice to have videos for instruction. I replaced her head unit recently with a double din screen and it took a lot of research to find the right wiring harness. Fyi it's an Axxess TYTO-01. Just install, turn the volume up a bit on the head unit and adjust the blue knob on the interface for feedback noise (I cranked it all the way up and just a smidge down until I didnt hear any feedback ) and you're gtg. Only problem is if you disconnect the battery you have to take it out and disconnect/reconnect the wiring from the interface box to reset it. Honestly it only takes a few minutes once you know how to take it out. They are great cars!
Thanks for the video. I don't have much mechanical experience as it comes to cars and the last headlight I changed was on an Impala. I had to take the whole headlight off, so I thought a Lexus would be the same thing lol. I thought I was about to take off the whole front fenders to get to the damn thing. Next time I'm going to UA-cam first. Cheers.
Damm was hard as hell lol.I put in the Phillips Diamond blue headlights H7 low beam sweet!! The 194 is A super Tight Squeeze,That's the small light that sits on top of the headlight assembly.I took my 2002 to Valvoline Did it for free!!!
Nice tutorial! You can mostly always change those yourself. In Sweden when temperature changes a lot, the cheap ones often, but not always die after a year when it gets cold again, the more premium may last maybe 1,5-2 years. I think the cheap ones are good for your southern temperatures :D :D ;) (I want spring NOW ;) )
Yeah changing temperatures kills most stuff. Our roads over here also takes quite a beating from summer to winter. Many potholes that needs to be fixed in the spring (like late april over here). Like swiss cheese ;)
No, it´s really the same thing here yere after year. One year, you have the best of all roads. Then the next, boom, destroyed by nature. So the best roads here really changes but we have a lot of curves here in sweden. We have none of the straight rodes you have in the states. I think you would love to take your´e bike here in the summer. It is really fantastic! :)
Yup thats what ive heard too, although i touched many of them before I was told that and never had one blow. Yup these are not bad to swap. Would be even easier with little hands
That's close, but a common misconception. It is actually the salt from your sweat that kills them. The natural oils on your hands hold and transfer the salt, which causes the glass envelope of the bulb to start breaking down chemically at the high temperatures that halogen bulbs reach. And sooner or later the bulb fails because of it.
It makes a difference how clean and dry your hands are. Hot and sweaty = more salt = premature bulb failure. Just washed = less salt and less risk to the bulb. But the least risky is to simply not handle the glass at all so there's no risk of contamination, which is why that is the usual recommendation.
Some use grease around the rubber seal on the plug in seal. Mine is a 2007 and i had to push rather than use a screwdriver. I pushed down on the teeter totter type latch and one side moved up so i could pull the old bulb from the plug in.
I need to replace the little yellow light on the outside edge of the headlight. Does that come out similar to the headlights? I can't find a video that show that bulb.
weird, every other video i have watched about the bulbs in the early to mid 2000s es models have the hid bulb, which are expensive. wonder if some have them and some don't?
I have a question I have a 2000 Lexus ES 350 it has halogen projector headlights could I throw an HID bulb in it since it's already a projector headlight does it have the connections for an HID already? Or would I have to get a conversion kit still? Thanks 👍
I have an Lexus es330 too but it has a plastic cover over the bulb and a clip holding the bulb in place. It appears different than the ex330 you have not sure why.
A trick is to remove the wheel well liner which gives better access up there where there is no space. Or you can bribe an 8 year old child that is in the family.
I have to replace my headlights on a Lexus 07 es 350.the right side keeps dimming out will the cheaper ones at AutoZone around forty bucks will those work
I went to AutoZone last night. and then I called the Lexus dealer. they told me I have to use the ones that come with the car... but now I know the truth. Thanks to you?
You might was to research that dimming thing--apparently, LOTS of us with es 350's are experiencing this and the dealerships are saying "sorry, nothing we can do". It's not a lamp problem, but what it is, nobody will/can say.
@@WHOTEEWHO two different quotes: speedy oil was $130- taking off the bumper, Lexus dealership was $230 with not removing bumper. live in a small town so not many choices...will visit part stores for the bulb...thanks again.
So, I went to change out the bulb and see only the bright bulb that looks like the one you show here. The other cables go into what looks like a white plastic wheel and there is a gray piece that is attached to it that looks like it might snap on (not twist as the dim light you show here). I took out the bulb that looks like the ones you show here, so I know what it looks like and how to get it out...thanks to you...but can't seem to find the dim bulb...am I being 'dim'??
The dims are the furthest to the outside of the car. Brights more to the middle. Both look very similar but the brights are different bulbs than the dims in this car
WHO_TEE_WHO A lot of times when I go to work on my truck I'll go to you tube. Mostly when it's something I'm not sure of. Videos like this helps A lot of people out on saving money to do it yourself!!
Me too! I watched a video on how to change spark plugs on a Prius the other day. The dealer told my uncle they would charge him $500....I did it for free and the plugs only cost $20
It's not that easy on a 2004. There are multiple different plugs on top of the bulb. When you finally get to the bulb it doesn't just screw out like that

I have a whining noise coming through my deck is the blue knob on the turn on amplifier harness? The gain knob?
Great video and thanks for the tip on cheap bulbs vs 50 dollar ones!

Hello when removing the bulb @1:45 and turn it this way. Do you mean turn it clockwise to remove it and counter clockwise to install it?
My left driver low beam just went out. Will change tomorrow. Awesome vid.
Thanks for watching
Old video, but great info. Thanks WhoTeeWho. Doing mine now thanks to you.
Glad it helped
Best video out of them all

I have never had one go out after rwplacing one. ha! They do last a pretty long time

I am sure i would love it! Maybe one day i can visit, rent a bike, and we can race!
Appreciate it!! Straight to the point thanks Bro
👏 thanks for serving back
Thanx Man! mine went out but it’s on an 2007 ES350 dim on the passenger side. Hope it works out when I try to switch it in a little bit.
Hope it works too!
Did you get it to work?
I did Kyo! Thanx
Awesome
Joel Rosales what kind of light bulb did you get and where
The grease from your fingers makes it blow, or so I've always been told. Great vid those are actually pretty easy.

Ive always touched the glass and never had issues until recently someone told me it could possibly cause them to fail
It makes a difference how clean and dry your hands are. Hot and sweaty = more salt = premature bulb failure. Just washed = less salt and less risk to the bulb.

What year is your 330? I looked it the bulb and mine says only h7 fits while h11 is incompatible.

You rich folks and your Lexus tutorials 😂 great video brother
Ha! Not my car....and this one is an old one. LOL
WHO_TEE_WHO lol
My daily is a 1997 ford ranger that has 300,000 miles on it that I paid $1700 for. This guy is definately a poor one. Ha!
I feel ya brother lol I drive a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Thanks! Do you have a favorite brand, if not the OEM?
I normally just get the cheapest
Great video. I'm going to try this
Thanks for watching
What is the very small top bulb for ?.I have the passenger side not lighting up
I need to replace the little yellow light on the outside edge of the headlight. Does that come out similar to the headlights? I can't find a video that show that bulb.
Should be right beside these
Thank you for making "how to" videos! Please put the applicable model year(s) in the description.
The reason why they explode I go bad is because the oils from your hand will cause it to damage the bowl
weird, every other video i have watched about the bulbs in the early to mid 2000s es models have the hid bulb, which are expensive. wonder if some have them and some don't?
having the hardest time, getting the wire clip back on after install the bulb. What am i doing wrong?
I have the exact same car. Thank you. Do you have a video for the driver's side? I'd like to replace both.
Pretty much same process
so touching for an excellent video

If the plugs match then it should work
Thank you so much for this video need to change the low beam bulb
Thanks for watching! Its a tight squeeze for your hands but not too bad
Thanks so much for your help. Is this dangerous ?
Not dangerous
Wow thank you sir. Such a huge help.
I have an Lexus es330 too but it has a plastic cover over the bulb and a clip holding the bulb in place. It appears different than the ex330 you have not sure why.
You have HID bulbs.
I like this tutorial because the guy in it has crazy eyes
😆😆😆
Is this the es 330 model or 300? My 330 doesn't seem to work like this
350
Nice
I don’t have a lexus but the same thing for some cars right? I have no clue anyway glad I woke up to see this.
Yup most cars pretty close to the same deal
How do u change out the small top light next deam light ?
Same way

I always get the cheapest ones I can find
I went to AutoZone last night. and then I called the Lexus dealer. they told me I have to use the ones that come with the car... but now I know the truth. Thanks to you?
Yeah they like to RIP you off. It will have a model number usually 4 digits and will carry several different bulbs. I always buy the cheapest
You might was to research that dimming thing--apparently, LOTS of us with es 350's are experiencing this and the dealerships are saying "sorry, nothing we can do". It's not a lamp problem, but what it is, nobody will/can say.
MLawrence Jonesj I’m working on replacing the same light bulb for the same kind of vehicle Lexus ES 350 ???
Expensive bulbs have NOTHING to do with longevity. Its so you can see pedestrians, deer, etc a lot better and help avoid a crash.
Fantastic - off to the store
👍👍
The other side is harder because of the battery in the way.
Breathing heavy my boy🤣🤣
WOW I'm going back they charge me 56$ for bulb nd I asked for cheapest one . Thanks for video im going to get my money back AND change them myself
👍👍
It has a clip on the inside very difficult
Thank you!!🙏🏽👍🏽
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks man
What’s the light on the side very top
Not sure without looking at one. Was not my car
Where did you buy your bulbs ?
Any car part store has them

Yup
Is it the same on both sides of the car?
Exact same

What about the light all the way on the side.
There are brights dims and blinkers all close together
WHO_TEE_WHO I was talking about the front parking lights. I couldn't think of the name. It is almost impossible to get my hand to replace them.
Like the fog light? Hmm not sure off the top of my head. This wasnt my car otherwise id go look at it quick
WHO_TEE_WHO No they are in the headlights on the corner. It's ok though. Thanks for the fast replies.
194 bulb
45-70 vs Lexus?
Hahahaha! If the car were mine I might just do it
Does anyone know if that's the same bulb for a 2009 es350
🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Just got mine and yes they tried to sell me the more pricey ones but the cheapest they had was 20 bucks
Thank you appreciate you
Thanks for watching
thanks dawg
yo but why is there a thing on the left of the headlight that unplugs? i need to get to my low beams but its just like a plug that comes out
I'm doing my is 300 driver side wish me luck....thanks
There's a spring inside the bulb and by damaging the bulb it can cause the spring to pop
Yup
My 04 only fits 9005, just wasted 25$ on a H11. Damn
Good vid!!
Thanks John! Not too hard to swap out the light bulb but I figured I would make a quick video in case someone needed to know how

I know right I have a ES 300 02 model
They run forever. We have two. One has 260,000 miles and the other has about 230,000 miles. Both still ride like a Cadillac
