This video prompted me to dig into Molly's work where I eventually landed on her new album "Ballad of Hotspur". It's been a while since I stumbled onto an album where I was excited about listening to twice in one sitting, then again the next day. Outstanding! Molly's guitar work is nothing short of inspiring. The trio is as tight a band as I have heard and the drummer, Jay Bellerose, is perfect for Molly's arrangements and her playing style. He has a way of playing off of Molly's guitar work that becomes an intricate and essential part of the tune. The same can be said for the bass playing of Jennifer Condos as well. Ballad of Hotspur is definitely on my short list of LP's to pick up.
The guitar is just a medium molly uses for her music to flow through …love the way she plays with her whole body , feeling every part of the music , this makes it believable , there’s no going through the motions here . For real . Lovely stuff molly 👊
Very tight. No rhythm instrument so drummer and lead play fills, runs etc, yet bass player keeps it simple and in the pocket. Good to remember The Band, too.
Really interesting drum setup. Two snares, one shallow with snare turned off and one deep with snare on. Single tom mounted on narrow concert bass. Unique sound, me like lots. Great band all around.
Damn, Doc... there you go again. I love how you deconstruct then reconstruct these tunes. This might be my favorite since the '9 to 5' (i loved that one!). This is baddass, tho. and, please come back down to Orange County when you get home. :)
