- This is a non-toxic reusable fly trap that works great! After years of trying all kinds of ways to reduce the amount of flies around the homestead, we are trying something new. And so far, its working fantastic! Most fly traps have to be replaced and are made with cheap materials. Not these!
Arbico Organics (TELL THEM WE SENT YOU!)

We make an almost identical trap out of window screen. One word of advice, if you leave something that cost $80 where a cow can step on it, the cow is probably going to step on it.
After watching your first video on these I purchased one and yes they work great...
What a lovely sweet natured cow!!
Nice! That is definitely making it into my homesteading binder!! No nasty, liquidy, maggot slop to deal with... Just crispy chicken treats 😉.
Awesome set up. That was funny watching the cow, the cat and the boys. Lol
Well I never saw a follow up review but I must say just after seeing the quantity of flies that you caught right away, the thing must work. Now if we can just come up with our own bait we could build it on the cheap. I bet we could build one for less than $10.
I live in the city, with 3 dogs and although I have a big yard the back deck is covered with flies, even had larva in the kitchen yesterday morning, couldn't find the main source, this will be great, thanks.
I was very surprised to get a notification for a new video here on YT.
That is a pretty neat flytrap...might have to check that out for the house.
Thanks for this. We live beside farmland and they use organic manure which brings in flies.
I always laugh when watching your videos because of your arm movements. You are so demonstrative that you must have some Italian blood in you. 😆 😆 😆 😝😉
Also the Solar Powered LED light BUG ZAPPER . There are all different sizes and shapes, outdoor use and indoor use. Walmart has them online. I haven't seen them in the store. Prices range from $14 to $45.
Nice 👍🏻
Got a few pekin ducks last spring. They decimated the snail/slug population, carpenter ants, and FLIES. very few flies last summer. Plus I got plenty of eggs to enjoy.👍
I like your Sukkot Tee Shirt
Super cool 👍🏻
NICE. So, it seems that it was a yes!!
WE NEED A VIDEO ON HOW TO KEEP CHICKENS IN YOUR HOUSE. How do you keep your house clean if you let chickens in the house? Don’t they poop in the house? Very interested in how you manage this. We have an old house that we will never be able to seal up all the cracks. We are thinking about starting with chickens soon.
I wish same for mosquitos...😄👍🏼
some magical solution for mosquitoes please.....I literally look like a pin cushion ;-)
Get a bat box. Purple martin bird house....no more mosquitoes. Also, do what you can to encourage dragon flies in your area.
@@Anamericanhomestead thanks bro, no bats so far(I think??), didn't think of purple martins, plenty of dragon flies...I call em my little Canadian airforce ;-)
M&M Overland Adventures pat them on their back & say “atta-boy”?
Great video. I hadn’t heard of these traps even though we get soldier fly larvae from Arbico. We have just had to trust that the larvae work but with this setup results are visibly obvious. Our chickens would love it. BTW, I also am raising red wigglers and I’m concerned that eventually the larvae will find their way to my worms and kill them off.
the soldier fly is not a pest actually... no disease and eats pests ...
but yeah ur chix will love them ...😄👍🏼

I live in Florida in a apartment complex and like to st outdoors at night. Does anyone know a good gnat and mosquito trap or repellent? Citronella candles do absolutely nothing!
Drinking lemon or lime juice makes you less desirable to the mosquitos. Works great for me.
@@bethratkewicz6062 Thanks Beth! I will try anything deet works but who knows what that stuff does to your body over time. I have tried the natural oils they do nothing. Unfortunately, we get them all 12 months of the year! I was thinking about raw garlic as well.
@@bethratkewicz6062 Your blood type is a factor as well. We really like Sawyers brand Picaridin repellent using it successfully on 3 different continents. We tend to use it on our clothing more than on our skin. HTH.
Try stacking a few squares of fluffy toilet paper and then put coffee grounds on top, maybe a half inch thick then light the corners of the paper. The coffee grounds will smolder. I don't drink coffee so I used new grounds so idk if it works with used dry grounds. It works for misquotes but idk about nats. Doesn't work with flies.
I live on the S. E Coastlines of Georgia 🌴 🍑
Same issues with mosquitoes. We don't have gnats here right now, but mosquitoes yr round.
All I know to do without putting chemicals on my body which I don't do either. Is to just cover up all my skin with thin fabric as possible. And sometimes when the mosquitoes get really bad, they can bite through the fabric. But just cover up real good. Maybe you can sit outside with a box fan aimed at you. That is actually a good idea too. Just to keep the fan set on High 2 fans actually aimed at you, so the mosquitoes can't land on you.
Does it work for knats?
Are the chemicals toxic to humans? If so, I wouldn't feed them t o the chickens.
lmao@ cat and cow
what the bait your using?
Don't ya need flies for the general ecosystem/ biological function of a homestead/ livestock area?
Yeah....fly lives matter! There's always one in the crowd.
The chickens get to the larvae. But it's a solid idea. Thanks for the vid. I dig the beard. I'm sporting one like that also. :) Yahspeed!

At $80-.... I won't waste experiment with trying to find better ratio of mixing.
Have you tried to tweak mix to improve ?
If you want North American pawpaw trees pollinated use fly attractant at the pawpaw trees, but don’t use a trap. Pawpaw isn’t pollinated by butterflies or bees.
Electrify it
You don't need to be concerned about your cat getting in the trap.
Can't justify the cost
