Fun list of releases, with a couple I hadn’t heard of before!
The Alternatives sounds great so that’s going on my wishlist. Think it comes out after the Women’s Prize deadline though, so will be eligible in 2025 rather than 2024?
Read Clear last month and it’s really good - 5 stars from me so I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
You DNF’d The Architect’s Apprentice? I loved that one 😭

Ah the alternatives coming out after Women's Prize 2024 is convenient for me then so there'll be no pressure to read it before Oct!
So far, I haven't received an earc of Clear, which is probably for the best otherwise I'd want to read it before the bookclub in April!

I've just spent all too much time researching books for my video on a similar theme - and I still missed heaps of these, most embarrassingly Elif Shafak, extra embarrassingly as I decided to catch up on a few of her back list this Christmas.
The audio ARC for the Vanessa Chan is on auto accept in Net Galley at the moment.

What great picks! I've promised myself I'll read more classics from my shelves in 2024, otherwise I'd join. I'd just be too overcommitted if I tried to join. I will definitely keep it in mind for 2025, if you do it then. Still, I can't wait to hear what you think of the books. The only exception that I think I will definitely be reading is Clear. I. love Careys Davis work and my Mum's Mclean family was cleared from the Western Hebrides to Australia in the 1850s and there were McPhersons in our family cleared from the West Coast of Scotland, none of them spoke English, they had to learn in Australia. That was 5 to 6 generations ago. May I suggest checking out the 2024 Miles Franklin literary awards list or the Stella Literary Awards list for either your November or December pick? The Winner will have been announced well before then and there's a chance that they will have been internationally published by then (Have to get my plug in for Aussie Fiction 🙃)

Are all those books by women? Are there any promising books by men coming out that you know of? I like to read books by both women and men, and as a man i wouldn't, for example, read 10 books by women in a row. Why not? I dunno! Ha! My favourite book probably this century is Persepolis by a woman, Marjane Satrapi. But I also like men writers. I agree that it doesn't really matter a lot of the time, but sometimes it does. I think a mix is good basically without going further into it.

Sunjeev Sahota is a man. My reading personally is 50:50 male and female authors. But this is just the books I am most anticipating in 2024 which just so happen to be female author heavy.
There is another 2024 release video coming from me in January where 5 of the 11 books I'll talk about are written by men.
