Telltales did it again. Another masterpiece. Normally games with choices always end up having a scripted climax like Mass effect 3 but damn telltales took on the Joker being a vigilante is not just new but it shows that Joker tried to do the right thing. He just couldn't control himself. At the end when he said that "he should be mad at Bruce for using him but he wanted to be acknowledged by the man he considered him as his friend" that made me cry a little. It shows that your decisions do matter. You had every chance to lead him to a less destructive path and you were almost successful. This Joker was not the Clown Prince of Crime but a lost soul who wanted to be acknowledged by the man he considered him as his best friend. Now that's a conclusion

If you want stories that actually change with your choices, look into Visual Novels. They’re text and some 2D art, sometimes voice acted, but that makes it way easier to have true branching paths.

Vigilante Joker is an Ascended Fanboy and I love it!
The ending reminds me of the relationship between Bruce and Harvey in Batman : The animated Series. Harvey always trusts Bruce and Bruce never gives up on him, their bond is as strong as always despite Two-face. Basically, this version is the same thing. Bruce is John's friend and doesn't give up on him despite the Joker.
I can imagine the same scene as the series but instead of Harvey it's John being escorted to the asylum and Bruce is there to greet him and John's happy to see that Bruce hasn't and never will give up on him.

This is by far one of the best telltale games I’ve ever played. It’s so well acted. Such a talented cast on this one. Could do a bit better with a more stable plot, however it still holds up. I love this vigilante joker option. Really gives us a window into what joker wanted to be in the first place. Love it!!
1:24:46 That bit ticked me off. Lady Arkham and Penguin were going to attack Gotham even if Bruce never became Batman and Two-Face came about because of the things they did to him. Joker was already a criminal in the Pact before he met Batman so Alfred's entire argument is false.
That part of his argument bothered me too honestly.
I see it a lot in super-hero material and 99% of the time it's hogwash. It's why I love the TAS episode _The Trial_ where the lady DA admits that if Batman never existed, his rogues would still be hurting people.
But they all exist because of what his father did. He's not directly blaming Bruce but his actions. Joker was a criminal, but became an ever bigger on because of Bruce manipulating him. Had Batman not existed, yes there would be threats but not as big. And as long as Batman exists, there will always be villains to challenge him and problems that Batman will have to face. That why Alfred refused to enable Bruce's self-destructive behavior.
You are not criminal if your friends are criminals. You become criminal when you will do something wrong.
This “vigilante” Joker is pretty awesome, he kinda reminds me of a splice between the regular Joker and The Creeper (Jack Ryder)

Yeah in almost, if not every version of batman, The Joker was created after Jack Napier (as an average criminal or as Red Hood) fell into a Vat of Chemicals/Acid after Getting into a scuffle with Batman at the Ace Chemicals Plant.. In this version, John Doe AKA the Joker doesn't remember anything before waking up at Arkham... It's very possible he used to be Jack Napier and/or Red Hood before Batman had a chance encounter with him at Ace Chemicals.. This means his subconscious could have drawn him back to Ace Chemicals even though he forgot it was Batman who screwed him up in the first place..

When John goes insane it was heartbreaking for me I had tried so hard to keep him from the darkness and stay friends but I couldn’t and I feel like I had failed after playing the episode

J is more than little insane but he has heart and his own code. I respect that and that make him really interesting character that telltale ever made. It was heartbreaking and satisfying ending. I am glad I choose the vigilante ending of my Joker.

Half Life 3 will be released earlier than the third season of this game
(Warning: Opinion incoming) Not only did chapter four's choice matter (If you believe John or not), both paths were brilliant in its own way, with the villan path feeling like a classic batman story with character development of John and Bruce, and the Vigilante path having increased conflict with John and Bruce's relationship, a new way to take on a Batman story, and a satisfying ending. I prefer the Vigilante path, but the Villan path was nearly as good. If Telltale games continue this trend, they migth get more people to support them. Love this ending.

I think the vigilante path shows how he is too much to handle for any villain with his overly cruel and sadistic ways which is why its better of for the Joker to be enemies with Bruce because 'BATMAN' can do anything. Joker doesn't actually want to kill the batman but because its 'BATMAN' he doesn't need to hold back because he KNOWS Batman will pull through everytime. I though that was really neat.

The ending of Season 2 really gets me. Joker turns out to be a poor lost soul who tries to do good but is so lost in his madness that he strays from the path. Alfred leaving Bruce the way he did. And that bit where Bruce visits John in Arkham? Really makes me wonder what’s next for Batman.

The vigilante joker story is secretly brilliant in truly creating the evil joker character. If you were to go down the villian path John Doe officially becomes the Joker on a bridge unlike the comics. In the vigilante one, John officially becomes evil at Ace Chemicals like in the comics and original adaptations.
Someone should expand this elseworld story on a comic.

Joker is so much more realistic in these because they show that he wasn't sane before he got dicked over. He was pushed into being a psychopath which doesn't normally happen to people in real life but it's the only way for the joker.
