It's a whole house trap that's why it's so large. Usually when we find them we tell people to take them out. (Shelly)
@@DrainMedic OH Right I see Shelly so when you Remove those types of Traps what do you put in place and Install to prevent Sewer Gas Smells coming back into the property and internal drain system???
@@paulwheatley6 Every fixture has a trap. So no need for one on the main. Some states still do require them. (Shelly)

Also, as you know, those old cast iron drains get a bit rough inside and start catching things, a good flex shaft cleaning could help a lot. Also, with all the newer low flow toilets, sinks, showers, that causes more clogs. I would tell them to once a week, fill the tub with water and let it help flush the pipes. If they don't have a tub, fill all the sinks and try to pull the plugs very close to the same time as possible.

I have had amazing results using a penetrating oil called Kroil, many people like PB blaster, but For me, the Kroil works on things PB blaster doesn't. Put some on those iron caps, although it is best to be able to give it time to work, like 20 minutes to get down in the threads. Also, a 36 inch pipe wrench will give you a lot more leverage, yea, I know it's heavy, but they do have the light weight ones with aluminum handle, but they cost more.
We use free all works the best we've found. Yeah the bigger pipe wrench would have worked. (Shelly)
