I’m excited to see how this works out. I also have tall fescue, but even at 3” HOC I still get a lumpy looking lawn. Years ago I mowed it at 1.8” with a reel because I was told it was KBG. It nearly destroyed the lawn. But I also had a lot to learn about fert and weed control. Your lawn looks great at 2.25”!

I have the same problem with my gas powered mower...no matter how sharp the blades are, I can't get a clean cut. I even increased the RPM's and it helped a little but I feel like I just don't have enough power from my residential mower. I will probably be in the market for a new one soon if you have any recommendations. Really thinking about getting a manual reel mower though.
I hope, some time you get a chance to try a McLane PH-7 17" manual push reel mower. They aint cheap, but they sure look cool. They look pretty heavy, so imagine a young guy would get a hell of a workout with one. Old guy like me would probably have a stroke halfway through the lawn. 🤣

I looked it up. It appears as if the highest it can cut is 3 inches. Do you like the cut at 3 inches? I am very curious to try this out. My lawn is smaller than yours so it seems very relaxing to enjoy a quiet mow that slices smoothly like scissors.

I used a reel on tall fescue in this video! No issue. This reel cuts up to 3"
