Joke here is that Persian Scouts literally melt against ANY melee cav unit
while they might, they are GREAT defending units. enemy is sieging? that guerilla deployment is gonna fuck up some archers and arty.

This is some old footage from a West Rome normal campaign (same one as the "defeat the Huns" video) that I had lying around forever and wanted to do something with. I'm working on a couple of big videos right now (yes, including THAT one) but thought it might be nice to chuck in some short-and-quick-to-make stuff on the side to make the wait less long :)

I remember my very first Rome 2 Siege, i was playing Egyptians and the enemy besieged my main town. Seeing i had mostly spearmen and slingers and the enemy had mostly swordsmen and cavalry. I sallied out and formed a spear wall about 50 meters from the walls so the enemy would still be in the kill zone of my ranged units.
It was very one sided.

@@manopeace9175 Spear wall with supporting over head archery fire. Will turn any horde of cavalry into a pile of dead horses.
I agree. Dabbled with pike wall formations and I think i've found the perfect defensive formation now. pretty much unbreakable against any AI tactic atleast

Can anybody please explain to me? I don't get it
His plan was to create a breach in the wall, send 2 units of cavalry in and rush them at the enemy commander. However the enemy commander was guarded by a unit of better cavalry which slaughtered the cavalry that the player sent in

The cavalry he was using was mercenary Persian scouts, very fast but very flimsy against other melee cav
His plan was to snipe the general with them and use the increased capture speed to capture the city center, but as soon as another unit of enemy cav showed up it was curtains for them
