As he passed away he wasn't Mr. Bourdain anymore, he was Tony for me. It struck me like I lost a relative how could he dare to pass away. I was devastated ....😢 I didn't knew him personally but it felt like I knew so much about him and I traveled the world with him and once a wee we met and talked about the good times. R.I.P. Tony
I completely agree with Chef Lee about eating fried chicken "with too many people around". I hope to one day meet Chef Lee when he pulls up a hundred yards away from me under the shade of a SEPARATE TREE and eats his fried chicken while I eat mine and we just exchange greasy-faced bro nods.
Being an Angelian, California many generations deep, I am particularly used to not being welcome. Cooks, Chefs, Southern Kitchens are almost always warm and open to folks that are curious. I was blessed to spend a lot of time in the South and always loved it...
I was born in Louisville. I moved across the bridge to Jeff. in '71, when I was 12. I really can't think of any place else I'd rather live. I'm going to have to eat at his restaurant one day. Not rabbit, eel, or barracuda, lol, maybe some fried chicken.
Korean fried chicken has evolved so much since this video. Now Korean fried chicken is kind of known for having exceptionally crunchy and textured skin. I mean that’s why we love it so much, plus all the amazing flavours they come in. And for me, the best part is that Korean fried chicken is able to get heavily sauced or covered in dry rub, and still hold that incredible crunch without getting soggy.
This is wild! I used to work with Ashley in Raleigh, she is amazing!! Served me one of the absolute best pieces of pork belly I ever had in my life! She's a great chef and the dog food factory story is hilarious because I went to school down the street from that and as a kid when it would kick up you'd smell it in the air LOL
Was it the Purina plant that you could smell going down the highway? I hated that smell, think it was soy beans. I held my nose every time we passed it when I was a kid.
I’m 44 years old. I’ve eaten fried chicken with honey since I was a baby. In all those years I’ve never met another person who does. I think I honestly learned it from McDonald’s giving only honey with nuggets when they came out in the 80’s. 😂
When I moved to Kentucky I got to choose between Louisville and Lexington, foodwise, and I went with Lexington for its superior Japanese cuisine (Totoya Factory). 2024, and I still can't eat Japanese food in Louisville.
Being from the south, you totally had me this whole video until you destroyed a waffle with the chicken. The chicken supposed to be on the side and the waffle is supposed to have syrup on it and salty. How do you know that?
Louisville isn't exactly the city I'd choose for a respite. its a city with some of the most aggravating choices in terms of public transportation and infrastructure. Practically non existent public transportation, and HORRIBLY designed highway systems. also so many people on the roads. obviously less people than most major cities, but there is no other option to get around than to drive your own vehicle on those said horrible highways. I still love the city
yeah I got furious. I was crawling the walls. I thought how dare he and cursed his good name. If I ever meet him, I'm going to be super disrespectful because someone needs to show him.
I miss Bourdain so much😔

That sounds like a pretty fine day. If it happens and there’s an extra tree, holler at me, I’d be honored to loosely associate with you guys
Thank you for your words
I love Louisville & southern Indiana. I left Monterey Bay Area & moved here , and I love it so much here !
I live in So. Indiana, Jeffersonville. I like it too.
I saw Chef Lee on Culinary Class Wars, I thought he was great, humble and genuine. I'm a fan!

Just glad I live close to Louisville
All these shows are so well done. I could write a page about it.
Bourdain is the best. Miss him & his food writing & ideas/shows.
Culinary class war! Chef Ed Lee!

London Kentucky loves you guys
His new restaurant here in Louisville called Nami is excellent. Korean BBQ. Fortunate to have a chef like him here
Fried chicken made in the south with this kind of attention has got to be delicious.
Fried chicken made anywhere with love and attention is better than most things people eat on a regular basis. 😊
That is Frenchy's box of chicken at 10:00. That is a Houston Texas institution.
PBS Food: "Fried Chicken & Love in Louisville"
Me: alright I love fried chicken
Chef: *pulls out skinned rabbit*
7:35 *cuts it in half*

These animations are crazy
I love good fried chicken, it’s hard to find in California. I’m from Louisiana so I’m picky. I love the animation during the story. 🍗
In LA everyone is into health food and in n out
THIS PLACE IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED
I'm not a chef but even I know the history behind chicken and waffle
Was in Louisville a few times when he first moved there. Probably 2 degrees of separation if he explored the Korean community a bit there.
In Jersey we have to buy cloth bags. I miss those bags. I remember making book covers and frying chicken.🤔🤔
I wonder if you could blitz the waffle down to a flour then use that to coat the chicken. I bet it would be good
Louisville has a lot of problems, but it has a lot going for it too. Chef Lee is spot on here.
I'm from Raleigh and I know exactly where she is talking about. It's the hood 😂.
Fantastic
The thumbnail looks like Steven Seagal frying some chicken.
How did Bourdain produce this video ?
When I moved to Kentucky I got to choose between Louisville and Lexington, foodwise, and I went with Lexington for its superior Japanese cuisine (Totoya Factory). 2024, and I still can't eat Japanese food in Louisville.
So....name of restaurant?
Ok Ed.. King's or Indis?
I dunno about his fried chicken tbh
Not enough garlic! Lol

So that’s bunny corned beef?

This guy… Chicken and waffles is a hood thing, of course you wouldn’t understand!!! Waffle croutons 😂😂😂😂😂
Frying chicken is easy. Use a lid.

Boring and kinda disrespectful. Everybody got to reinvent the wheel and to what. I'm done.
Boring.
