The Olympic podcasts are amazing! Asides from the great running and results commentary, I love how you incorporate Asics into the podcast within the mental health segment. They deserve the credit for supporting this wonderful content and also for caring for the athletes' mental wellbeing.
Can we please see a TRC presenters compete in some of the field events??? Maybe some shotput, javelinand long jump? Would LOVE to see this little side quest 😁
I feel bad for Jakob. I'm Norwegian and have followed him for quite some time. For those who don't know, there's been a lot of drama within his family and around the Norwegian team. He's essentially been going through hell, dealing with the violence allegations he made against his father while simultaneously coping with his father coaching Narve. To top it off, there's the ongoing media storm surrounding Josh Kerr, which has been brewing for nearly a year. Yes, Jakob is confident and a great runner, but he's still human, and the trauma he's experienced must have affected his performance.
I was in Paris at the Stade de France for Hodgekinson‘s 800m gold and Duplantis‘ new WR pole vault. I lost my voice screaming so hard 😂 those were my favourite moments
I found your channel about a month ago, starting with the video where you run for 24hrs, which I loved. And I have been binge watching all your videos! Really looking forward to seeing the 10 Days in Paris podcast videos in full on your YT channel. Keep up the great work and thanks for the hours of viewing fun! Watching the vids has almost made me want to get Strava to see the comments on your runs!
I tried to time the difference between the first and last runner in the closest men 100m final race (0.12) and got 0.19 seconds.. and it was instant - I can't believe it. Great podcast, looking forward to part two!
Just watched a interview with a guy explaining how corrupt athletics has become. Mentioned one year his athletes all tested positive for PED's but got another call no athletes were getting punished. The IOC decided not a good year expose the cheating for the Olympics. This guy was involved in getting several athletes PED's. If not think big deal, Schwarzenegger said when on juice could workout heavy for multiple hours and still workout the next day. Some athletes took drugs between round too aid in recovery. Running is awesome for me but even if elite athletes caught cheating may decide bad for business to expose them. Happens not just in Olympics. Olympics interesting concept but that's it. Just my thoughts.
I believe those qualification times lead to athletes doping. 27 minute 10k is almost out of reach more most athletes and puts it beyond most countries having athletes in the 10k bar the Africans and a few other exceptional athletes.
I hope you managed to run in some of the nice spots of Paris and surrounding areas during your stay. Question for Rick : is French gavy better than English gavy ?
The Repechage provides an easy way to game the system. If you're in a heat where only the top 6 automatically qualify, and say there are 9 guys in the race with SIGNIFICANTLY faster PB's than you, then it'd actually be SMARTER for you to just tank your race. Don't exert yourself AT ALL. Let the entire field race all-out to the line. Those top 9 guys will fight for their lives and only 6 will go through. Meanwhile, you jog it in and expend nothing. Then you come back the NEXT DAY and race those same 3 guys who have faster PB's, but are now semi-tapped out & haven't 100% recovered. And you don't really care about the rest of the field b/c their PBs are slower than you, and they haven't fully recovered either.
The big question for me still remains... What was Andy doing in Eindhoven a few weeks back??? He almost ran past my house and I wonder why he was there....
@@runningchannel I just learned Eindhoven can be a holiday destination! I'll look at with different eyes from now on. Also will be running the marathon there this October, it is a city of sport!
Don't stress about the thee term fastest losers - we are all athletes here - that is the case ..... if you aren't first you might as well be last - there is only one winner, that is what makes it thrilling and is the point (Except for Parkrun which obviously has a very different philosophy and rightly so because its awesome for different reasons)
Nah the olympics has to be all about the golds. Otherwise it becomes strategic at the country level rather than simply everyone trying to be their best. Its definitely the best way. Also it really annoys the Americans which is great too 😅
I saw a comment saying that perhaps Gold medals should be worth 5pts, Silver 2pts and Bronze 1pt. I like that, it still strongly rewards Golds, but it gives value to Silver and Bronze.
I have pittakionophobia, so I cannot wait for the day that the leg stickers (which fall off half the time anyway) are never used again. I think bibs as well should be gone, time to modernise things, if all other sports can have player names printed on their tops, why can't we have that in athletics???
the elite athletes don't deserve distractions such as the throwing events and some race events being organized simultaneously in the same venue, many things about this olympics has p*ssed people off besides the elephant of the politics..yeeesh! luckily that is out of the scope of this channel's videos.
You don't view throwing athletics as "real", "proper athletics", much less "elite athletes", you call them "distracting". Ever happened to try one of those distracting sports? Try tossing your kettlebell across the lawn and see how far you get...
@@dresden_slowjog you misunderstand, i view every Olympic athlete as an elite competitor, the organizers did a poor job, every final medal event competitor deserved a distraction free pin drop silence in the stadium not 7 fricking simultaneous events!
@@high-captain-BaLrog it has always been like that, events at the same time. I think it's part of the charm of athletics. It's the same in gymnastics by the way. The high jump was paused as the 400m final was held for instance so the organisers try to do a good job with it.

10 days in Paris by far my favorite Running Channel content ever. HUGE THANK YOU, Andy, Sarah, Rick , and production crew GENIUSES
Love it🎉❤
So so glad you’ve enjoyed it! We love creating the podcast 🥰
@@runningchannel Is there a place to watch the daily video? The daily audio is good but if given a choice, I'd watch the video.

Wow, have to look into that.
Everybody going through something. Doesn't excuse his brand of arrogance; where he 💩 on others.

Cool ❤🎉
It is crazy to see people taking shots at the althlets on social media, if you had a room of 1,000,000 people only 10 would make the Olympics......10!
👏👏👏

Kudos to the French crowds, watching the men’s basketball game against Germany was a blast, they brought it.
Amazing!!
I loved the repechach (sp?). No system is perfect, but it gives athletes a 2nd race at the Olympics. Instead of 1 and done.
I believe those qualification times lead to athletes doping. 27 minute 10k is almost out of reach more most athletes and puts it beyond most countries having athletes in the 10k bar the Africans and a few other exceptional athletes.
All of those were great - But I personally loved Duplantis getting that new world record!
it was such a special moment
“and a little sprinkling of science” 😂😂😂
😂 we can only promise a sprinkle
I think it would be fun for the team to watch and commentate Andy's Olympic races
We've had Andy review his races!
@@runningchannel I guess I have to race over and find it 😆

The one guy in the hurdles who was injured, did that, had 2 days to recover and was able to come and win his Rep, then medal

How many runs before the wash?

Isn’t the fact that they are SO FAST is the development of the shies over the last couple of years !
And the track. A sub-10 100m runner tried to beat Jessie Owens 10.3 seconds using similar shoes and surface. He took 11 seconds I think.
Can’t they spray on your number before the race
If you can possibly come up with an excuse to attend the 2026 Winter Olympics I think all your supporters would be up for it.
hahah we'd love to!!
Did anyone actually eat those croissants on the plate or were they just rearranged daily 😅
Oh trust us they get eaten! 😂
Change of T shirts?🤔
Asics breaking out the checkbook… And I’ve been saying “Ace-sicks” this whole time… 😅
No pinz great company that helps cyclists not having to use pins for numbers ….might be an idea for athletes too
