For everyone who might wonder: The correct pronunciation for the brand Aeyde is just like the single letters A and D, as in AD Magazine for example. I had once some work related calls with them and the name was said a lot (obviously, haha).
A mid week video YAHOO. Obsessed with your hair. I vetoed ALL the dress option EXCEPT the one you chose at the end. It was by far my favourite of the lot.
Yes, the black floral dress is a keeper Emma, looks great. You can still wear your black Birkies or Dad Sandals for a more casual look for the day. I do like the last cream dress as a sloppy casual day dress but not for the christening. You look fab!
In all honesty it’s not a dress I would wear as day wear but it is now a dress I can keep for any future occasions 🙌🏼
The last floral dress option is more you and more versatile. The bright floral was definitely not an Emma dress! Loved this video 💕
Love the Uniqlo croissant bag; I purchased mine in black (of course!) several months ago and have used it daily ever since. It's had several trips round the washing machine and comes out exactly as the first day day I purchased it. I can't recommend it enough!!

I think the last dress is the most versatile. It’s black, but not a solid black, and the floral print lightens it up. It would be nice for any wedding, party, christening, etc. I don’t wear solid black for those happy occasions, it might be sophisticated-looking, but just looks too somber. I remember a wedding here in the US where all the Spanish ladies, relatives of the groom, wore full-length, black, sequined ball dresses. They looked so out of place among us Americans wearing light colored or floral silk dresses. Sitting together as a group, they looked downright funereal. Black doesn’t suit me, but I find it’s too hard to eliminate from my wardrobe all together, so I try to brighten it up near my face with a scarf, white blazer, white shirt underneath, etc.
LOL at the 100 meter buffet!! Same!!!! I loved the final choice of that black floral dress. Also, loving the linen blazer from your collab! I have the taupe wool one and I absolutely love it!! That silk lining is a dream!!
26:55 - this dress at this time, the most flattering cut of the 5 options. You chose well. I have found great occasion-wear from Vinted. Picked up dresses in size 10 from Ghost, the Row, lk Bennett, Essential Antwerp, Max & Co, Second Female etc for under 30 pounds. You can pick up some occasion-wear from some very unusual designers if you have time to research. Which I am sure you are already an expert at.
Oh yes Vinted, eBay, Depop & Vestiaire are great for pre-loved occasion wear 🙌🏼 I didn’t have time to shop pre-loved as I left it a bit last minute and what with the weather change too x

I love the stone, cream and navy outfit. I’ve been looking for a long navy trench coat, I’ll look at this COS one. I also want a long, navy wool overcoat for winter, but I haven’t been able to find one I like, polyester linings are a big No for me (rayon is 100x better, it’s breathable). I do prefer a lining, compared to unlined wool, the lining helps cut the cold wind and makes the coat easier to don and doff.

Regarding washing, I don’t usually wash blazers as they’re not the kind of thing to get dirty. I steam areas like the armpits to keep them fresh x

Occasion wear is so annoying to shop for -- I'm currently shopping for a wedding guest outfit, and apparently, they don't want us to wear white (obviously) and black! Which basically vetoes my entire wardrobe...I like your final choice, though. Mine might actually be GREEN! 😙🙃
Occasion wear shopping definitely requires time and energy if you don’t vibe with the traditional occasion wear that’s always in the shops. Admittedly I left this a bit last minute but I would have done pre-loved if I’d have had more time to spend on ‘the search’ so I could have found something more my style. Enjoy the wedding x

Dear Emma: your mission should you choose to accept it is to look for a toteme, khaite,, the row or Celine inspired dress that you love in a second hand but grand venue or premium brand inspired by the above that you can keep in your wardrobe for the next event. No more printed high street dresses that are not you!❤
It’s a good challenge but I’m afraid I don’t really want to spend that kind of money on a premium brand, even pre-loved, that I will actually get wear out of. I rarely have occasions as all our friends are married now and we weren’t expecting a Christening as none of us are religious so I can’t justify spending money on an item that won’t be worn. I’d rather spend the money on something I can wear as part of a daily wardrobe. I now have the Nobody’s Child dress as my occasion dress if needed and it didn’t cost a fortune, and I felt great in it so I’d count that as a victory.

The first dress is the winner & that's for all of the reasons you mentioned: it's you, not just that " an occasional dress" , with other sandals/shoes the vibe changes immediately to a more casual look, & when a piece is "you" & you feel like yourself in it that's the most important!

Final rundown ; the black floral dress was a perfect choice, bc of the black background color it's a you dress, the florals make it the occasional dress & you felt good in it during the day?
And what you can do is maybe go to your tailor and alter the sleeves (can go for a t-shirt sleeve if the elasticity band is ✂️ off, you can make it sleeveless and go for a wider shoulder trap or even go for a strappy shoulder strap ) & then the dress will even be more you 💁🏻♀️

I really love the green dress, the black one is a bit mature for older ladies. I hope you enjoy your time ❤
I don’t know if you sew, Emma, but to raise a neckline on a dress like that yellow one, I just add two simple darts in the back of the neckline, over the shoulder blades. With long hair, they’re covered anyway. I do this all the time because I’m petite and very short-waisted so almost everything is too low-cut for me. Also, I have black and nude knitted silk/rayon slips, with V-necklines, that are super-breathable and comfortable, that I wear constantly with sheer dresses. I don’t want any underwear showing, whether it’s a bra, slip, cami or panties. I have spent many hours this winter and spring doing this, and taking in waistbands, because of weight loss, everything I owned is too big on me now by at least two letter sizes. I’m buying new things in smaller sizes, of course, but I love my extant clothes and want to keep them for much longer. I can’t afford tailoring everything, I only use my tailor for silk items, because silk is such a pain to sew and get a professional-looking result. My sewing skills are only in the average range. I just had a new silk skirt shortened and it was $50 US, quite a lot for a $200 item. It’s hard enough to find what I want in the natural fibers, classic styles and light colors I want, and brands that use them rarely offer petite sizing. I just got a beautiful linen “mini” dress, so it was on the model, but it comes down to my knees! Fortunately, I can shorten that myself and get great results.
Oh I’m a very competent sewer, I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a seamstress but I’m not bad and have been adjusting my own clothes since my early 20’s ☺️
But I like the neckline on the yellow dress, I just need to adjust the slip dress so that it sits better with the V neckline and isn’t visible and then I just need to raise the hemline but that’s easy x

I wouldn’t wear the first, yellow, dress if there’s any possibility of a buffet meal. The impractical extra-long sleeves and their strings will be dipping into all the food. I made this mistake at a funeral breakfast once, wearing a dress with long, wide sleeves. It was a disaster, the dress was ruined after this one wearing and no one appreciated my sleeves dragging over the serving bowls and platters. I keep this in mind now when choosing event outfits, even for restaurant, table-service, dining. I sometimes keep two rubber bands in my handbag, just in case, because some of my shirts, like the silk ones, have slippery long sleeves that won’t stay rolled up without them. As a petite, sleeves are almost always too long for me.
I’m a buffet professional so strings would be no obstacle for me 😬😉😉
