Thank you so much for making this video! I'm a clay sculptor too and I wanted to make a cat breed with long hair. This is so helpful for getting some texture on there instead of it being a smooth piece of clay!! Thanks!!
I have been paused making tutorials in a while, after recovering of my hands surgery, I would like to start it again. Thanks for taking your time watching it!
How do you stop the clay from flaking? Every line I make leaves flakes on my tool, and some are left behind. And when I try to smooth out the flakes, they ruin the lines.
Leaving flakes is normal in sculpting, but there are a few way to minimize it. 1. I use wooden tools that I make by myself to ensure smoothing lines. You may see the method of DIY wood tools if you are interested at: www.deviantart.com/sculptor101/art/Making-wooden-tool-tutorial-523277071 What kind of tools do you use in sculpting the most? Here is the tool that I often use: www.deviantart.com/sculptor101/art/Sculpting-tools-for-Super-Sculpey-tutorial-419711416 2. Try to get the feeling by a bit of press moving your tools instead of scraping when making lines. The other way to watch out is the angle of your tools to the clay. If your tools is 45 degree on clay, you may still have some flakes. If you lower to 30 degree or even lower, and mark the line like actual drawing, the flakes would much less. 3. If you have seen some of my other video, I brush off the flakes sometimes with soft oil painting brushes. That may help also. And smoothing the clay with nylon brushes and nail polish remover. Hope these may help! Thanks!
This will help me so much, I use super sculpey firm und medium firm to create a Jeroba over a skeleton but I had no idea how to create fur effects - Dankeschön.
These are a few methods creating fur, I'm sure you'll find any better way as you keep trying. Hope it may help. Danke, dass du dir das Video angesehen hast.
Very nice work. I suggest getting rid of the music though. It would be great if you would talk about what your doing. I did however like your video simply because I am a visual learner.
