    This is all very true. I work for a Major Insurance Company. However, some states can only have 1 vehicle per policy. Also, Michigan is a ‘no fault’ state...so no matter who is at fault, the Insurance Company is responsible for repairing their insureds vehicle even if they weren’t at fault (this is why their insurance cost more money).
    Another thing is, if you voluntarily take a Defensive Driving course & send it to your insurance company...you can qualify for a discount.

    Same as my last comment, helps to live in an inexpensive state to buy car insurance. You have less people by far on the roads than Illinois. Michigan.. You drive in Michigan for a day and you will know why they pay more. I did for 10 months and it is very interesting with 70 mph speeds on the city highways. What is interesting is that on most local streets it is rare to hit a red light with all the U turns built in, it's a one of a kind driving experience. Different but somewhat well designed to move traffic.

      @@mddell58 As an insurance agent for over 10 years, color of the vehicle has NEVER played a factor in the insurance rate. I've never asked a client what the color of their car was. It makes a difference when you are driving because a red car is easier to see and more likely to get a ticket.

    if you're young, a good student discount and taking an approved learn-to-drive course. if you're 55+ yrs. old take an approved senior safety course. Senior classes are 8 hours the first time, online or in person, good for 3 yrs, then renewals are 4 hours, good for 3 yrs. cost me $17 online. saves you typically 5% so well worth the $17! our state, PA, only allows the 5% discount for one driver per household while some other states allow 5% per driver for the full household - ex. if 2 senior drivers in household both take class in PA, you get 5% total but in other states, you'd get 10%. Your state's dept of transportation can tell you which programs are approved but also call your insurance to be sure they accept it. Call your insurance company every year to review your coverage, be sure they have all your eligible discounts and car features (we finally realized they missed a $8/yr discount on my car's features for several years and they couldn't retro apply). If your car is old enough, drop collision insurance and only carry the medical. Some companies will give you a reduced rate if you allow them to install a gismo on your car that records your driving speed, braking, behavior and you score/drive well but the downside is that they can raise your rates if you drive/score poorly.

      Credit score is affected by average duration of your credit accounts - so yes, if you got rid of a credit card you've had for several years, it will likely lower your credit score.

    Why do insurance co s charge ins for every car you own. Like, I m single, 62, kids are grown. I can only drive one car at a time. I only one 1 truck. If I bought another car, like a classic, like a camaro or something. They would charge me the full rate on both cars. Even though one or the other never leaves the drive. You know what I mean? It's stupid! I think the insurance industry should figure this out.

  • @ThorMaximus
    @ThorMaximus 6 років тому

    It’s not your CREDIT SCORE-it’s credit based insurance score. When you buy a new car; say $30000 car; you’ve increased your debt to income ratio--you total that car that next month and insurance company is out $30K. You paid 1 month premium- that is one aspect of how that works.

      I had to do a ton of research while working at an attorney's office.
      Farmers Insurance (not Farm Bureau) & American Family had substancially lower rates than all the other insurance companies.
      This is a fact from a study I did. I'm NOT affiliated with any insurance company, nor am I related to any insurance rep. It's very simple to find out if a company can offer you lower rates. All you have to do is walk into their office and hand them your policy and ask them how much they would charge. I never let other companies see how much I'm paying. I just asked for their quote. If you're not able to go to the office, then all you have to do is send them a fax, or send them an email. Remember, you do not have to tell them what you are already paying. Actually, it's best if you don't. That way they can't play around with the numbers.

    As someone licensed in CA to sell insurance id advise listening to non licensed advice with caution .Depending on your state these facts will vary , that’s why you have to get licensed in the state you sell. I wouldn’t recommend cheaper insurance you’ll regret it, you want enough coverage that covers you properly whatever that cost. What are you limits ?? That’s a huge factor in lower premium. Credit score doesn’t matter in CA. I hear all the time “well my friend pays this” there are many factors that determine a rate. How does this information help you save on insurance ? It’s not horrible info it’s just facts. Older cars aren’t necessarily lower your wrong. The collision and Comp might be but an old car can kill someone just as much as a new car. Bodily injury claims hurt your rate more, claims without bodily injury that pay less then a certain amount won’t raise your premium. The company I work for charges no fees if you use a bank account even paying monthly. You should get licensed if your interested in advising people legally.
