- This 1985 Baldwin SD-10 concert grand is one of the greatest concert grand pianos of all time. This video explains the interesting features of this piano, the positives of this particular piano and some of the things that need to be worked on to improve it.
Congratulations! Very well done.
Absolutely beautiful......the piano AND your playing
😥 The world just isn’t the same without Baldwin pianos. I hope it finds a happy home.
If kills me they aren’t still around. My guess is Yamaha and Kawai finished them off which is a shame since they don’t even come close.
There will never be another piano like the mighty SD10. It made the Steinway D eat dust! Maybe the Mason CC comes close, but it doesn't attain!
Nice Gem you found there, Regi! It will be an amazing piano after your work your magic on the action and hammers. It makes me so sad to think what became of Baldwin. When I was studying piano in college I always gravitated to Baldwins. There would be Steinway pianos at many colleges but I would always seek out a Baldwin. My second pick would always be a Mason & Hamlin. Nice Solo!!
Curious about your recording setup here. Pair of ribbon mics?
Yes, in this record, I used a pair of ribbon mics and Earthworks SR77's.
Piano still sounds great.
Yes it's an excellent sounding piano but just a little rough around the edges.
What a great find, Regi! It's obviously a piano that inspires good performances. What's your plan for this beauty?
Once I finish working on it, I will be listing it for sale.
Beautiful playing.
For those who want to sing along:
Wise men say only fools rush in.
But I can't help falling in love with you.
Shall I stay? Would it be a sin if I can't help falling in love with you?
Like a river flows surely to the sea,
Darling so it goes. Some things are meant to be.
Take my hand. Take my whole life too.
For I can't help falling in love with you.
Regi....are you going to refinish or otherwise repair the case? Nice playing!
I will be repairing the case
@@RegiHedahl Thanks Regi.......is it difficult to blend in the repairs on a lacquered hand rubbed finish?
@@pborgia1 Yes it is but it's not impossible.
@@RegiHedahl I own a nicely rebuilt 1927 mahogany Steinway L and follow several piano techs UA-cam channels. It is amazing to me to see how much obvious love and devotion to the craft that many piano techs show. You are an example. And like you, many of them play so well.
What is in the screws that’s black. Looks like someone tried glue the screw to keep it from coming loose or something
