- The Baldwin SD-10 concert grand is regarded as one of the finest pianos ever made. At the time this piano was produced, Baldwin’s U.S. manufacturing was on a world-class level. This piano has just been rebuilt with new strings, tuning pins and damper felts and the case has been refinished. The action has been meticulously refined with concert level regulation and fine voicing.
What a great piano! I just bought one from 1978 for my home. Couldn't resist!
I have one, bought it around 1969/ 70 . . . serial #189644, still sounds great, beautiful, although it does need some work but, for a fifty year old piano . . . I love 'my' piano it has grown olde with me. I joke with people that ask, "I'm going to use it as a coffin, just put me inside, with a pillow and close the lid" Ha, ha, ha . . .
The Debussy was lovely, but I shall try to carry the Chopin around with me all day. Carpe Diem!
What a bright and brilliant sound that instrument has!
Very talented player! I always enjoy your playing!
Daaamnn!! That's one gorgeous piano!
Thank you for such a wonderful gift!
David Paich has one and it sounds amazing. He's used it on every Toto album and doesn't sound like any other piano outhere.
Nothing like that huge Baldwin concert grand! The sound is so lush. Steinways wished that they sounded as good!
They both are good. Remember, Baldwin did, as a matter of stated policy, seek to emulate the Steinway sound and design. Nothing wrong with that, btw.
Beautiful!
The Melody is soo pleasing to my ears
beautiful
Great piano ☘️😊❤️🎹👍🏻
Your Clair de lune is beautiful...
I have one 1993. It’s my favorite over S & S or My three Mason & Hamlins
I only question why a "barely used" piano from 1991 would need new strings and to be refinished.
Robert, Bechstein was bought back from Baldwin by a German entrepreneur and master piano maker in 1986. And having heard Bolet playing Baldwins in the 90s these concert grands must have been a nightmare to tune, because they were completely out of tune even before the recital started.
I'm a steinway person but this sounds good.
I want that piano just to learn how to play what he just played.
The piece he played is clair de lune
How much in ph.???
Never heard of Baldwin! Interesting to know
"Never heard"??? I'm afraid I've never heard of you, have you been locked up in a closet someplace? They are no longer in business, but at their height they gave Steinway some stiff competition! I have one, have had it for fifty (50) years, it has grown olde with me.
Anna Khomichko Pianist lol really???
People always act like everyone should know everything... Baldwin was a top tier piano maker, founded in the mid-19th century. Many of their pianos were built in Cincinnati, Ohio. As Mr. Estrin points out, they were the owner's of the German Bechstein brand for sometime, as well.
One way to tell a Baldwin grand is by the brass "cuffs" on the base of the legs. It was kind of their trademark style. A good Baldwin piano is as good as anything. Bernstein played them!
. Probably could not afford a Steinway
FIRST!!!
It sounds a bit direct primitive and unmature to me.
As much as I LOVE Baldwin, I didn't particularly care for this one... just didn't sound right to me for some reason.
