How to Load Your Dishwasher Properly

Learn how to load your dishwasher correctly with these simple but effective tips!
Mike, owner of The Appliance Plug, will go over all the tips and tricks to get the most use out of your dishwasher every single time.
1. Make sure you clean your dishwasher filter with lukewarm water and a soft bristle brush. The dishwasher filter is located usually inside at the bottom of the dishwasher.
2. Scrape don't rinse your dishes. However, watch the video Mike's personal recommendation.
3. Load with big pots and pans starting on the bottom rack and toward the back of the loading rack so you don't block the detergent dispenser.
4. Load plates so they aren't nested on top of one another. Also, make sure they are facing in towards the spray arms.
5. Make sure to load utensils so they aren't spooning each other as well keeping knifes down for safety first.
6. Small bowls and containers should be placed on your top rack at an angle and not nested on top of each other.
7. Load in between the tines when it comes to cups and mugs.
8. Utilize your detergent dispenser correctly and to its maximize performance.
9. Run hot water from your sink prior to starting your dishwasher so that the dishwasher can start off with hot water.
10. Don't overload your dishwasher. Running a dishwasher cycle uses a lot less water than hand washing.

Another tip would be to always check that the spray arms spin freely, before closing the door, and turning the dishwasher on.
