I love the mechanics of London bridge...but I like the mechanical aspect of most things...I'm always amazed that humans created this stuff. When I was very small we had a train station at the end of our road so trainspotting was a favorite pastime and of course I am talking about the absolutely amazing steam trains proper black chuffa chuffa engines...and you looked at them marvelling that someone figured out how to make those things and make them work...freaking awesome.
@@ychaps I totally agree with you, Yvonne! That’s why I kept saying it’s amazing to see the human beings involved in building the bridge and how much work went into building and operating it. Humans really are amazing and to see things like this in detail is just so special. I get fascinated by the smallest things 😂 because nothing is there by accident, humans did it! Thank you for watching early! 😁
An even greater treat at Tower Bridge is to do a 'behind the scenes tour' which includes a visit to the bascule chamber! Now that is breathtakingly amazing. Such visits don't happen very often, you need to subscribe to their waiting list. I too roll my eyes at the Tate Modern!!
I'm the same way! I don't generally spend much on accommodations unless there are amazing amenities that are worth the price. If you're just looking for a clean, quiet, safe place to stay you can be fairly frugal!
Ironically, my Facebook reminded me that “One Year Ago Today” I also visited Tower Bridge. It’s an iconic and beautiful London landmark. So much classier than the “Eye of London.” I also live in a tourist town (Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA), and there are attractions that I’ve not yet visited. London is a beautiful city; you should be proud!
Super fun fact, the original London Bridge was bought and moved to the USA in the 1960’s. It is now a bridge in Lake Havasu, Arizona. How cool is that?!
Yay! I visited the Tower Bridge and Engine Room when I was there in September, and I totally agree with you that it is amazing and a great experience. I couldn't believe how empty it was when we were there too - really gave us a chance to read the information and take our time enjoying. Did you see that there are "windows" that open? You can slide them to get a photo without the glass! When we got there, the elevator was just sitting open, so we took the easy way up, now I'm sorry we did - looks like there were fun things to see/read before getting to the presentation level.
@@adventuresforthecurious I agree! It might be one of the most underrated things to do in London 😁 I did see the small photo windows, it’s a nice touch! Definitely take the stairs if you can, a lot of information! Thank you for watching!

Love this video! Absolutely love the color choices inside the mechanical structure! Fun Shrek Green captures my attention and enthusiasm! Imagine if they just chose industrial grey or black - boring! I love that we got to see inside from your lens! I worked in Southampton for about 2 weeks several years ago. On Saturday morning I took the train into London to do some sightseeing. Unfortunately, there was also a football match that day, and all the hooligans were out (and merrily drunk) both before and after the trip. I remember it was Valentine’s Day, and I could not walk into any restaurant without reservations. Even Pizza Hut had a Valentine’s Day menu only - and you needed a reservation! I also remember it was gray and rainy, so I jumped on one of those hop-on/hop-off bus tours, which was a great way to see St. Paul’s Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and Trafalgar Square without getting rained on. I am enjoying seeing London again through your eyes - so Thank You, Ben!!
