Solo Cruise on the Norwegian Prima! 3 HOUR VLOG (Norway and Iceland)
Here is the full series of my 11 day cruise on board the Norwegian Prima! Cruising alone was an interesting experience but I had so much fun and visited some amazing places! This itinerary is so unique and stops in some of the most beautiful places in the world. I check out what the Prima has to offer, all of the restaurants, entertainment, live music, public areas and the amazing service from the Prima crew members. Experiencing the midnight sun in Iceland was an amazing experience and seeing whales made the experience even more special! Enjoy the series :)
Itinerary:
Southampton, England
Zeebrugge, Belgium
Amsterdam, Netherlands
Bergen, Norway
Geiranger, Norway
Alesund, Norway
Akureyri, Iceland
Isafjordur, Iceland
Reykjavik, Iceland

    Thank You for this video. I subscribed to NCL and called their agent but he told me that the cruises from Southampton do not have studio, single cabins and was suggesting I fly to various departure destinations to use ships with the studio cabins. Is this right?

    • @TravelWithBen121
      @TravelWithBen121 5 годин тому

      Kevin, NCL has 18 ships and only 5 of them have studio cabins. Maybe none of them are cruising out of Southampton right now. You can go on the NCL website and filter 1 guest and it will show you the rates for 1 person. Good luck 🤞

    Your video is exactly what I wanted to see! Thank you for sharing your experience with us!! I took a RC cruise to Cozumel last week and paid 3 times as much as you did for a 4 night cruise to be in an adjoining cabin alone. I’m ok with that but there were no solo cabins available. But I did pay a whole lot more so will look for a Norwegian cruise with solo cabins! Thanks so much! 😊

    So you only paid $600 for the cruise in a double room. Was the price because you reserved it 2 days before you left? Is it still cheap if you reserve it a week out? And how does that compare to a solo traveler room?

    • @TravelWithBen121
      @TravelWithBen121 День тому

      Yes Barbara, I believe I got this price because I booked last minute. The closer to the cruise day, the lower the price will be because they don’t want empty cabins. BUT if they’re sold out, they’re sold out. There were no solo cabins available when I booked, inside cabins were the only ones available. Solo cabins sell out fast because there’s not many of them. Good luck 🤞

    That’s a really great price! But… I’m told that tipping is all in USD & is automatically added to your bill. It sounds like it’s getting out of control & is not actually tipping someone for their good service - rather it’s a taxable, service charge that gets shared & the cruise line takes a cut. Is this what’s happening? USD is a killer for those who aren’t earning that currency.

    • @TravelWithBen121

    Another great video. I’m grateful that I have had the opportunity to cruise on various cruise lines over the years. In the early years I would just look for a deal. Didn’t care about the cruise line. But now I’m trying to stay loyal to just a few lines so that I can benefit from the loyalty perks. One thing that I’m still very very confused about is giving additional gratuities to various crew members. You mentioned working in the cruise industry. I have had a difficult time finding information on this topic. Help …

    The reason you saw so many homeless people in Norway, is because Romania is a member of the EU, and Norway is a member of the EEA. Norway doesn't have homeless people. The government provides for Norwegian citizens that can't afford renting or buying a place to live. The "beggars" you saw were Romanian.

    Prima is hands down my favorite ship. I just like the smaller ship. It seems like the RC Oasis class is designed to make you forget you're on the ocean...not why I cruise! I love the Indulge food hall and the fact the local is available 24 hours. The NCL Breakaway class also too big for me and way too many kids.

    I've never thought of England, especially London, as an outdoor sort of place. I know there ARE many outdoor attractions-- Bath, of course, and Stonehenge and the seashore at Brighton. But to me, when you go to England, you go for the history and that means museums and art exhibits and tours of great monuments and castles. Yes, they do have the most stunning gardens and beautiful landscapes but... mostly, it's indoor sort of touring. I must add one quick anecdote, though. When I was in England for 8 days in 1985 (yes; ages and ages ago), it was clear and sunny the whole time-- and everyone we met commented on how lucky we were to be there that week because that NEVER happens! LOL! I believe it was in August. Oh, and, BTW? Considering I spend most of my summer having to water my gardens just to keep them alive (we hardly have any rain in July or August), it's very hard to commiserate with rainy summers.

    While I get that your answer is a bit tongue in cheek and dealing with an American stereotype, but the film is more than a little misleading. 1) We had 40 degrees C two summers ago, 2) we have had recent hosepipe bans due to water shortages that matched the drought of 1976 and 3) as has been pointed out by others, weather can be changeable and can vary markedly over a very short distance. I grew up in Bristol, a city in the South West of England and not very far from the coast. I always believed it to be a very rainy city, somewhat like other cities and regions in the West of the UK. However, now that I live in the North, I find that members of my family who are located in the north of Bristol keep describing the weather as "sunny" or fine when the view out of my Yorkshire window is grey and rainy. It turns out that the south of Bristol, where I grew up, has quite a different weather profile than the north of the city and it is both a rainy city and a city with fine weather. On holiday in Wales, one afternoon we were shut in by a heavy downpour, eventually we decided to go out anyway and were surprised that, once we got off the mountains and down into the valleys, the weather was fine. It is possible for two places to be deluged and a third place, located midway between, to have fine weather. I used to see this when travelling on the train and not solely on longer journeys, but even on journeys lasting about an hour. Often, the midpoint would be sunny, even though my starting point and goal were sodden. There are also such things as microclimates, where the weather is uncharacteristically different from that of the surrounding country. I can recall being warned not to go to the Lake District at Easter, because "it always rains there". Except . . . we had hot sunny days, apart from the afternoon we went shopping, while the rest of England had heavy rain! Last, but not least, we experienced the most extreme changeability ever in southern Scotland. We were in a small town on a bright sunny day. Halfway up the main street, rain fell and we began to look for shelter. However, the rain stopped within 5-10 seconds and over the next ten minutes we had short flurries of sleet, snow and rain and even hail, all interspersed with varying durations of bright sunlight and in completely unpredictable order. One patch of the pavement/footpath might still be dry, even though the patch I was standing in was wet or sleety, etc. I have experienced some short periods of sustained sunny days in the depths of winter and have also seen snow on the lower slopes of the Mendips in May/June while the sun shone brightly overhead. British weather is anything but stereotypical and saying it rains everyday simply isn't true, while it is probably true that it rains somewhere on many days. We also still have seasons, but climate change has blurred the traditional calendar limits and we might get a very hot May or June and a wetter July, but the 40 degree Celsius temperature in 2022 was on the 19th July, which is traditionally a very hot period.

      The UK definitely doesn’t have ‘strong’ seasons, Charles. It’s extremely rare to have temperatures of 40 degrees in England. Maybe 1 day every few years. But other parts of the world are guaranteed that temperature every summer for a few months! Any season, any day it could rain in the UK.

      HAHA you have to eat fish and chips when you visit England but make sure you go to an authentic place and not a touristy one!

    i'm scared off of using the word "england". even though it seems like it was a normal thing to call....there in wwii movies or in board games set in the past. but nowadays when i use "england" I don't know if someone i think is english will say "i'm not english!" so i feel like the only way to be safe and not trigger anyone is to just say "UK". i guess it might be because my online gamer friends are welsh and scottish and the sound a bit offended to be called english.. it seems so complicated to me (i guess in the past i'd just think of it as a country like... the us, england, and russia fought germany, italy, and japan)

      Very interesting comment 😊 I sometimes say I’m from the UK and sometimes I say England. They are interchangeable for me but not for everyone. I actually have a video coming up soon talking about this because many people don’t know the difference! 😊

      @mm-yt8sf Well, there is still an England and people there/here are happy to be called English more than they (or the Scots/Welsh) are to be called "Brits". We might accept "British" in some contexts, but "Brits" isn't at all how we refer to ourselves and so makes us feel a little like foreigners. Still it's better than "Britishers". The film referred specifically to England, so it is OK to respond in kind. Also, you should be positive about being aware of the existence of Wales alongside Scotland. For some reason, the Irish and Scots have a higher profile elsewhere and esp. in the USA/Canada than the Welsh seem to, even though there are Welsh emigres all over the world.

      I think the thing about the Pacific Northwest is that unless you are one of the die hards, we don’t go out of our way to go hiking in the mountains, etc. until we have dryer warm days from Spring through early Fall. At least I don’t. It is just the way some of us are. But I wish I could change my mindset about that. I have been caught in downpours in the Cascades and it isn’t fun to me. But let’s keep our beautiful summers a secret!! Shhhh!

    LOL...indeed, the questions in regards to weather! "Does it snow all the time in Canada?!" Another, "Is there indoor plumbing in Canada?!" What!? LOL Oh, and a classic, "Does everyone live in igloos?!" Well, maybe, but only in the far, far north! LOL Oh, and one more, "Does everything a Canadian says end in 'eh'?! Maybe you've got it right there, eh!

    Love it LOL I remember waking up in London one day to see the streets covered with snow.....so beautiful! One question though -- Ben, are you recording this in the countryside of London?? And one comment -- when I lived in Oregon, we always said "if you want all that gorgeous greenery, you have to accept the rain!" In Umbria we're battling 107 degree right now (I could look up celsius but lazy) and zero rain.....I'll take that park there in London ;-)

    We often get 10 days without rain.... we also often also get 3 or 4 seasons in 1 day. "Changeable" would be more accurate for the London area at least. Wales, Scotland and cities like Manchester it rains more than here. Noone is over 7o miles from the coast so we get coastal weather.... New York, Rome and Sydney get more rain than London. We have had weather up to 104 degrees and as low as -25. Once every decade there is a drought. Some of us don't like tea or fish either...
