We are thinking about adding animals to the vegetable production at our place. I appreciate the information and truthfulness in your videos. Much appreciated from Western Arkansas.
Setting the last 2 posts for my first enclosure for feeder pigs this week. Getting my first 2 in the spring. Thanks for sharing what you know, it has helped me a ton!
I've got two Berkshire females and they can tear anything apart. I think it's boredom. They shredded a kiddy pool to bits. I had three male Duroc cross feeders earlier in the year and they were mild in comparison.
Good to see how things are going around there and it's just the same up our way with the hog houses, pens and pastures, always something getting tore up and needing some attention. Just gotta keep after it and don't let it pile up or then you really got a lot of headaches.
Well said as usual and great to see you folks again ! 👍 I wish I had a piece of construction equipment that would move dirt and demolish structures as cost effective as Hoggs will do the job ..... 😁
I remember growing up as a kid when we had hogs that was being destructive we use to put hog rings in there noses and it helped to a point do people still use them I haven’t seen them in forever
@@Sugarloafhomestead I have a few boxes somewhere I saved. I've been meaning to do a video on them for a couple of years . The plain V shaped ones are really only good to hold the seat cover on your truck and maybe patch chicken wire
I worked on a smaller diversified type farm right out of high school with about 10 or 15 sows. I hated pigs because of the way they tore things up and swore I'd never have anything to do with pigs. Now I've got 4 sows and growing, and I really enjoy them. Never say never I guess. They've definitely taught me how to build things stronger though. I really don't why we call bulldozers bulldozers, they should be called hogdozers.
I started watching your videos a year ago doing research, I really learned a lot. I got 6 June born pigs in September, they were mainly given corn and forage before. When I got them I gave them all they can eat grower finisher from our local feed mill, they doubled in size in less than a week and have keep growing ever since. I’m new and with out running them over a scale don’t know what 300lbs looks like.
Hey Chris and Mrs D so glad to know y'all doing well we miss ya
Good to see you from south texas.
I'm going to do my best to get videos up more regular this year

Glad to help if I can . I've been doing this a long time and I want to see people succeed, you need real information to do that .
So glad to see you posting again! Haven't seen a second of the video yet.
This is the Truth! If you have hogs for long, you better not be lazy lol. They’ll give you stuff to fix for sure.
LoL every day

Some pigs are just more destructive than others. Mature boars are the worst

The ones with the up turn that really worked aren't available anymore. Not many people even remember how to use them
@@HomesteadingtheHardWay that makes sense why I haven’t seen them

Hog resistant is about the best you can do short of concrete and block walls

Hi Chris, what is a good rule of thumb to know when pigs are ready to process.

@@donaldlalone7014 I'm not the best at guessing weight myself. I have a set of scales ,that's the best way and it keeps the slaughter house honest
@@HomesteadingtheHardWay thank you. Happy New Year!
