Thanks for the fair and balanced review )). We started to create hypoallergenic products in 2010 because we met so many wonderful nail artists at international competitions who had developed allergies. Today, the situation is much worse - described by the British Association of Dermatologists as a "gel polish allergic epidemic". There are several reasons for this, the main being Made in China products, often this is hidden by the brand, that contain higher risk ingredients such as HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) in excessive amounts.
But HEMA is not the only high risk ingredient. A dermatologist will test for 13 different ingredients in a methacrylate patch test, but there are many other ingredients that can cause allergies if uncured or undercured product comes into regular skin contact.
HEMA-free products may not be hypoallergenic. Many, including HEMA-free monomer contain high risk alternative ingredients. A true hypoallergenic product should contain none of the ingredients in the methacrylate patch test and ideally no ingredient that has been medically proven to cause an allergy when used in nail products.
Hypoallergenic products are primarily designed for prevention. Many with allergies are able to happily use hypoallergenic products - often our products are the last resort for nail technicians to keep their career - but there are no guarantees, it depends how many ingredient allergies someone has and also how sensitive their immune system has become.
I would recommend that anyone with allergies uses a complete system, including a matched lamp from the brand, so they get the same results intended by the product chemist. Using a hypoallergenic base and top, with brand Y colour, may work for a while, but if you soak-off the ingredients of the colour once dissolved in acetone, can cause further allergies.
We are always willing to offer help and advice based on our 11 year experience, you can reach us through our website.
Take care of the career you love guys xx

If you live in Canada 🇨🇦 don't order with DHL.
I've been waiting 4 weeks for my order and finally insisted Mariana check into why it hasn't been shipped out of frankfurt germany yet.
I've been concerned but it was brushed off as it's in customs, it's in limbo, but not giving specific time frames always ignoring this question.
They then she said all orders through DHL are shipped by sea and SIGNIFICANTLY delayed .
So basically you will not know when or even IF you will ever get your order.
Was told by other DHL customers this is nothing new from DHL it took 4 months to get their [damaged] order. Some have not got their orders yet since March 2022.
Now this company is ignoring my emails after just saying "sorry" and not helping me. So no refund, no product, and I ordered quite a few bottles. Very disappointed in customer service.
I work hard for my 💰 money and this is very upsetting.

this is such a helpful video. i developed a severe allergy after years of using gel and i’m devastated, it’s my favorite way to do my nails. all the skin around the tips of my fingers peels off, my nail beds ache, and it even started to lift my nails after time and time again of trying to “just deal with it.” i’ve always wondered about sandwiching other brands between a hypoallergenic base and top coat. thank you for taking the time to do such an in depth review, and thank you to your client for letting you experiment!

There is definitely still hope but continuing to use products to give you reactions in the long run can cause long-term damage so definitely stay away and I have other products that I will be testing that claim to be a healthier version although healthy doesn’t always mean hypoallergenic. So definitely stay tuned because this is a topic that I do want to investigate for my own knowledge and I will be sure to share all of my findings!

Same here! I’m a beauty therapist so my cause is over exposure over years of doing gel / chemicals. Even fumes will make me blister severely within an hour, then cracks, deep cracks, lesions, bruising and weeks of the healing process. It’s hell so I’m praying for science to invent these things for allergy sufferers 🙏🏻

Hey I'm new to your channel I was just looking up to help my daughter out I think she developed an allergy to gel nail polish she wants to be a nail technician but she wants to do it at home she has a little bit of autism but not too much and she wants to learn but after she did her nails this happened like a month ago she developed little blisters around your cuticles on one hand and then she took off the nail polish and and the nails she had on and let it dry out she just tried it out again to see if it wouldn't happen and she had it happen again this time I'm both hands so I think she developed an allergy to the gel nail polish and the top coats so she soak them off and took them off that I was wondering is there is hypoallergenic out there for her we live in Chicago so I don't know if there's any stores that sell them out here or anything and I know that's what you're talkin about in your video is she is so upset and I was telling her she can try to do acrylics for now I just want her fingers to stop hurting her as soon as they're done I want her to try acrylic is there any suggestion of stores or sites you can suggest hypoallergenic gel polish

    • @TheNaturalNailGuru
      @TheNaturalNailGuru  Рік тому

Hi! OK, so for now she definitely should stay away from product completely until her skin heals all the way. I would definitely watch videos on repairing nails damaged from acrylic because the process is the same as far as taking care of the nail goes. The reaction sometimes is caused by improper use of the gel product and over curing to the skin and it happens a lot with DIY errs. My next video is actually talking about this risk so definitely make sure to check that out. It’ll be posted in the next couple of days.. I would recommend waiting up to three months before doing gel again . Coming up soon. Will also be a video on how to properly take care of your nails that will be very helpful and go over all of my suggestions.. it is very possible that she continues to have the reaction no matter what but in many cases, the intolerance goes away and as long as it is done properly, it won’t come back, but we really won’t know until we try it

Developing hypoallergenic products is much more difficult. To use an analogy, it's like trying to make a cake without butter or sugar. That is why few brand chemists are able to do this or can afford the extremely high development and testing costs, plus the ingredients used are much more expensive. If more nail techs bought hypoallergenic products to avoid allergies, the cost would go down as brands would be able to purchase ingredients in higher volumes - unfortunately, today that isn't the case.

There are many different ingredients in the gel polish that can cause an allergy and without specific testing there’s really no way to know exactly what her allergy is but it’s definitely some thing found in most gel products
