oh hey there, you scrolled all the way down ;)
We always did four major topics per year. It was so hectic so it's really cool for me to see that there are schools that only do two to like kind of take some of the stress away.
Did u do any sculpture work as part of your A level Art and Design?
i do one overarching topic, animals rn, and then we do different mediums within that through the year
Y9 deciding my choices, you helped a bunch and your sketchbook is AMAZING
thank you!:)

I chose art and I am going into y10 now but I am a procrastinator and a perfectionist so wish me luck 😭🤞
@@ella13-butitdoesnthaveaheadhaha same here ! Scared af
@@cyclopsfan47 lol it's going pretty shit for me right now but whatever😍😍
And I found out I'm not just a perfectionist and procrastinator, I'm also an adhder 😍 (probably) GOOD LUCK LOVE
7:06 this point actually helped me so much because I’m currently doing my GCSEs and I’m always looking at my classmates work like “omg why is that so much better” or “mine isn’t as good..” and I will tell you now that made my motivation to do anything go down so much. So you may think this tip is ‘over-used’ or ‘silly’ but seriously it can have a massive impact on your results so I think this is one of the best tips in the whole video. :) 💖💖 This is some awesome advice, thank you (sorry I’m very late)
Yh same
Thanks for being so positive about this
Same!! I switched business to art, generally because I love art so much and could spend hours doing it, hearing 'art is the worst to go for!!' Makes me feel awful so I definitely understand what you mean :))
I just did my choices and I'm so excited to start GCSE art! This video was super helpful thank you
Thank you for the help! I’m currently Year 10 in my second term of gcse fine art and I’m still nervous, but this video has reassured me
I took A level Art and Design and A level Textiles and Fashion- Loved it!.
Passed both then Studied Further Media At University. Never Give up.
It's VERY important to TRUST YOUR INSTINCS. In some cases if u FEEL the NEED to go abroad then do it. Some people have moved OUT of Canada and USA to Eqcuador . Anyhow with time My drawings improved. Practise makes perfect.
Edit: I didn't graduate- my choice- was the right choice- I don't regret it because I have a wonderful marraige life with children through the Grace Of everything GOOD plus I won many prizes and I help people to do the same.
By the way I got engaged at 16 to my secret crush then within 1 year of college I actually changed my mind n broke it off nicely by age 17 because my INSTINCS told me I MUST
How do you get engaged at 16😭😭😭
Thank you for this i have picked art for one of my gcses and im so excited but also kinda nervous, i have just started my summer holidays and go back to school in September and thats when im starting art so im so happy i found this video!! Your artwork i amazing and i think will inspire me alot :)
aww, i’m so glad you enjoyed the video! don’t stress about art, it’s honestly the most relaxing GCSE and i’m sure you will love it! always here to help:)
@@ambersaunders Thank you so much! This has definitely made me so excited and thank you so much for the help!
I’ve done art, acting, history, geography and double science. I really think you have to be very motivated to pick 2 subjects like photography, art and textiles because of the sheer amount of work.
I’m doing my options right now and I’m thinking about choosing art! I’m not super sure as I don’t know if I’m going to be good enough but I do love art!
i’d 100% say to do it, skills will come with time and practice :)
@@ambersaunders thanks for replying! I’ve thought about it and have decided to do it! :)
OMG, this is just amazing and I never seen this creative and gorgeous sketchbook before! You gave me soooooo many ideas of what I can do for my GCSE! Thank you xx
ive just started gcse and i am struggling, but honestly this helped so so much thank you❤
hi I'm American and love all these GCSE sketchbooks that I see on youtube! They have their own style that we're not taught in America (at least from what I'm seeing). I was wondering if there's any tutorials online on how you guys make your moodboards in the sketchbooks? I saw some cool ones where it was flowers on a transparent paper tied to the spiral on a sketchbook. I would really love to find a tutorial, please let me know!
for my mood boards, i just print off photos and stick them on the page with glue x
whats being american got to do with this

That’s this helped with some ideas for my sketch book! Im in Y11 too and I haven’t finished my folder lol. I chose the theme nature and portraits because that’s one of the topics I could choose in my school. Wonderful work! You are really talented and thanks for the help:)
aww so glad to hear :) thank you and good luck with finishing it :)

@@ambersaunders hey just a question, how many artist researches did you do? I'm not sure how many I should do

aww, love you nan❤️
thank you so much for sharing everything you have, your work is really good, and full of potential
thank you:)
I feel like it’s so easy to get a 9 in art I got a 9 like 2 years ago and my art works good but it’s not amazing it’s improved since but it’s mostly the sketchbook analysis and prep that helps you get the marks
Hello! I’m a year 10 and I was anxious before I saw your video. Thank you so much!
This was so inspirational I am doing art gcse and I’m in year 11 I have chose to do my theme as our world xx
as a year 8 wh o picked gsce art this guide is great!
Can’t wait until I do structures
I visited oxford university with my school so I have so many pictures already
aww sounds fun! hope you enjoy the topic:)
Hey! I’m in year ten atm and have just started my year ten major project and I chose graffiti and urban decay. This has inspired me to do natural forms for my next project (we can choose whatever we like) but I was wondering where you got your sketchbook I love how it’s like landscape rather than portrait, does your school provide them or did you get it from a shop? :)
my school provides them but hobbycraft does sell them :)
@@ambersaunders thank you!! we use big A3 ones and they are so hard to work with unfortunately but thanks!!
for some reason my school starts gcse early, I'm in y9 an I'm already starting
yeah my sciences started in year 9:)

hey, i’m sorry to hear that:( i’d talk to your teacher about it, i’m sure they will understand ❤️i hope everything gets better soon and wish you the best❤️❤️❤️
Is it true that gcse art will make me never want to draw again if I’m passionate

Hey could you make a video about how you did different titles/handwriting
Also how exactly do you make the flaps in your book?💜
Hey! I’m hoping to make some a level content next year when i finish and will have some things like this x❤
@@ambersaunders 😍Oh ok thank you SM for taking the time to respond love XX I will wait 💜
Would’ve maybe chose art and textiles but at my school they are under the same course so we’re not allowed to do both 😢
Do you think surrealism count as a theme? Or should I change it to something else??
i’d double check with your teacher :)
@@ambersaunders oh right thanks, I think she said she didn’t like the theme but I’m not sure what to change it to, do you have any suggestions on a similar topic or any ideas! ty
i’m not sure, i didn’t get to choose my topics, i did natural forms and structures :)
I am in year 9 and I have to decide tomorrow! I have loved art all my life but have just been discouraged by people saying it is overly-time consuming, would you have any advice please?
i do art and i’m year 10 i’d say it it time consuming but if it’s something you enjoy you should pick that ☺️
if you pick art it’s something that u enjoy, and then some of this coursework you can do in ur free time :) I picked my options and I kinda regret putting art as my reserve and not my first choice 😭
What’s the difference between a grade 7 and a grade 9
Grade 9 is the highest grade you can achieve, in general though usually a grade 7, 8 or 9 are considered high grades. A grade 4 is a pass but anything below a 4 you failed.
Damn, your editing is good 👍
thank you!!
I'm just worried that I won't have enough ideas to fill out all the pages 😭😭
don’t worry, lots of people don’t finish their pages and they’re left blank :) eg, it’s better to have 50 out of 100 pages to the best you can do them, rather than 100 of out 100 that are rushed :)
extremely talented
Thank you so much for the video, it was so helpful!!! Was wondering what exam board you were using?
AQA!
im on my 4th unit after december and i failed one passed one and might be bale to pass another unit and i need a merit for a level art which i need to get but not sure if i can but yhh
How do i search for artists??
just a question. what if you are creative but aren’t very good at drawing
i’d say being creative is a much more important aspect of the course than being “good” at drawing. drawing isn’t the only part, you can also paint etc so many different skills are required to produce pieces :) i wouldn’t worry about your drawings not being “good” as art is the most subjective thing ever, so someone might love a piece of work you produce, even though you hate it :)
@@ambersaunders thank you, God bless you 💗
can u help me choose a topic but its vague and personal
Year 11 here, my predicted grade is level 4 (it says fail) but it's a pass a level 4 is a pass??? And she said my art is good so im very confused
Hey I’m going to year 10 in September I am doing textiles I just want to know if you did it so if you can do a video or something on it pls and also for textiles do you get to pick your own theme?
hi:) yes i did do textiles as well, unfortunately i don’t have my book as it’s currently with my school but i have a bunch of videos over on my tiktok @aambersaunders :) i did get to pick my own theme but i’m not sure if it depends on the school

hi.. does your yr10 sketchbook really matter, as in does it get marked by examiners or used as a reference. Sadly i joined the art course late and dont have that much content in my book so just wondering if it really matter. Thank you x
yes, it does matter, you usually don’t change sketchbooks from year 10 to 11, depends on the school but i’ve never seen someone switch, you usually stay with the same book from 10-11 x all the work you submit will be marked by the examiner and a majority of the time, year 10 work is at a lower standard than your year 11 work, as you would have improved over the course x i’d definitely say that if you’re concerned about the amount of work you have, there’s always time to improve it and add more, there’s no clear “cut off” point between year 10 and 11 so am examiner isn’t really going to know what work is from which year, so if you did more in year 11 to account for the missing work from year 10 then that’s fine x also, remember there’s no set amount of pages needed in a sketchbook, the quality of your work produced will be valued more than the quantity of it so don’t stress too much about creating lots of different pieces of work, just ensure each one is made to the best of your ability :) sorry to hear you joined the course late, but i hope you have fun continuing it and hope my comment has helped :) x
@@ambersaunders thank you sm xx. my teacher did mention we were going to change books for a new project that will take us into christmas next year which im pretty sure we will be assessed on. Can the examiners mark both books, or will they only hv to mark one . Our school tend to keep yr 10 and yr 11 works seperate and use yr10 as a progress check but i am unsure how it will be assesed... would this new book count as equally important. But thank you sm for your advice i will take everything into acc💕
@@aniqarahman3934 ahh okay i understand:) i’m unsure as my school didn’t do that but based on my experience i’d say both would be marked, best to double check with your teacher :)

im year 9 and I want to choose art so I need some advice x
You need to have a good time management, gcse art is time consuming but can be made easier if you have a good schedule
But also remember that gcse art shouldn’t be treated as a filler subject, choose it if it’s related to your choice of career
This is completely unrelated but your teeth are so nice 😂
i made a mistake taking this
I am in yr 11 and I just found out that I got a 9999! 🥲🤭😆
