      That's why prisons in the US don't rehabilitate people. Look who the guards are -- some of them talk and act like criminals themselves.

      If your weak in jail your going to suffer, or get strong. It happens once a man decides he is tired of being picked on, he will defend his self or become vicious. Some guys got good heart and would protect the weak. To me your weak if you prey on the weak. Every dog has his day, that guy going to end up on the wrong end of a shank. I hate bullies. He really think it's cool. That's some sucker shit.

    When inmates are openly talking in front of the guards AND on TV about how they extort and abuse weaker prisoners, then surely that's a sign that the prison system needs urgent reforms.

    • @forman208
      @forman208 3 роки тому +42

      But what can you do? There's hundreds if not thousands of inmates in these prisons, how can you possibly keep track of what's happening at all times, esp after lights out? Only way would be to snitch and being a snitch is a legitimate death sentence. You put all these violent criminals in one place of course it's gonna turn out like this. I honestly don't know what you can do to reform prisons, the best you can do is not commit crimes and end up going there

      @@forman208 I've got no agree with you
      I've spent 7 years in prisons. You don't get sent to a specific prison because you're a basically decent non violent guy. They put you where there is room. None of my crimes involved violence but I spent time in some of the most violent prisons in the country. That's the punishment the actual prison regime is just endless boredom but you can just wait that out even enjoy the rest treat it like a health spa get fit loose weight cut down smoking no alcohol exercise everyday. It's the other prisoners who make time inside a nightmare. But hey: no one said it would be easy

      @@forman208 Send fewer nonviolent people into jail in the first place. Put them into different kinds of treatment programs instead. The REAL problem in America is that there are just too many people being put into jail in the first place. The U.S. has a small portion of the world's population, but has an ENORMOUS prison population. It's quite ridiculous.

    That last bit was very impactful. "Game ain't based on sympathy". This whole time I'm wondering how a person could have no remorse and in fact take pride in extortion and attempted murder, but that last line shows how he is only playing by the rules of this game. This environment is "survival of the fittest" in the truest sense; more than it does anywhere else in human society.

      In prison you can go about your way for the most part depending on the security level if you’re not gang affiliated but also not a bitch. But end of the day you’re still going to have to fight and come to terms with no sympathy. The guards aren’t gonna protect you. If you know someone’s coming to kill you and there’s nobody to call for help what are you to do but fall back on survival instincts? That fear and self preservation can make a regular man stab the shit out of another, bash his head in, throw boiling oil in their face etc. it’s a dark place full of on edge people trying to survive.

    The authorities ought to be held liable for whatever happens to inmates in their custody. If a weaker prisoner is preyed upon, extorted or raped or stabbed, the prison, the state, the warden should all be criminally and civilly liable in a court of law. Because one has been interred does not mean they are no longer human and any other prisoner can do whatever they want to them. The predators are psychopaths and the prisons should be responsible for their control and if they can't control them then they should execute them. Period.

    It's interesting how most Americans just take this all for granted..."That's how it is" and so forth. But this guy really brings the conscience of civilization to it and you can hear the connotation - "Hello, America...this isn't right. Why don't you try to fix this behavior and make things better?"

      It's not America's fault, it's the same in most prisons around the world. You should see some of the psychopaths in New Zealand Prisons, they are cold, calculating savages with no remorse or empathy. Not much can be done to change it, only thing would be to lock them in individual cells 24/7. But that is against human rights so they can't legally enforce it.

    I seem to remember watching a BBC documentary on max American prisons, and their inmates. They interviewed various prisoners about their upbringings, and what led to be where they were, but the best interview by far was the last with a prison guard in one of the many conning towers who was asked if he felt any sympathy for the inmates sorry plights. His answer was priceless.

    The sad reality is this man is a product of his environment. He has learnt to be aggressive, ruthless and evil in order to prevent himself from being a victim. You could argue that he is just surviving in his world, much like everyone else around him.
    This shows that humans are just animals like anything else and will do whatever they need to.
