10:34 My heart skipped a beat when Diana accidentally mentioned her 57th, instead of 52nd birthday, and laughingly said "I don't want to be older!" Tragically, she wouldn't get older - her 52nd birthday was to be her last.
It made me think of Diana's contemporary Dame Joan Collins, who turned 89 on May 23rd 2022 (she's two years younger than Diana). When asked how she feels about getting old, Dame Joan says "It's better than the alternative!"
If this video teaches us anything, it's that we spend far too much time and money worrying about our age and weight. Diana perhaps looked younger and more fashionable with less weight - but quite honestly she was gorgeous, glamorous and charismatic at any size. And as we now know, tragically her ovarian cancer played a part in her weight loss.
Remember, a hearty appetite is a real gift, because it's a clear indication that you're healthy. The first thing to go with poor health, is your appetite. We (and Diana herself), would have far rather she'd been overweight, and lived at least another 20 years. So don't fixate on weight or age. Be as happy and healthy as you can and enjoy your food for as long as possible. Life is short for all of us!
No of course you shouldn't fixate on weight but the number one killer for us all is heart disease and excess weight contributes greatly to that
@@DW-nb2zc The irony here, is that by today's standards, Diana wasn't especially overweight. Another irony is that the many diets that were all the rage in the seventies and eighties, like the one she promotes here, only succeeded in making us fatter!
There was heavy emphasis then on eating low fat. At that time fat - and particularly animal fat - was regarded as the arch villain, and the main cause of obesity and obesity related diseases like heart disease and diabetes.
That was subsequently recognised as nonsense. The real enemy was sugar - specifically refined sugars. And humans got very large, not on animal fats, but on vegetable fats.
The low fat obsession meant umpteen foods were manufactured under that triumphant 'Low Fat' banner. What the consumer didn't necessarily realise, is that in place of the missing fat, SUGAR was added to these processed foods to make them palatable. And that was obesity fuel.

So sad this was Diana's final birthday - she had just turned 52 (on 23rd October 1983), and tragically died the following 4th May 1984. She looks wonderful here, as sparkling, sassy and magnetic as always, it's so hard to believe she had just over 6 months to live.
She, her loved ones, and all who adored her and her work, suffered a cruel loss with her premature death. How much more she would have given - and enjoyed - had she only been given the final 20 years of her life, to which she was entitled. Nobody said life was fair!

She absolutely was. I far preferred Diana in her mature years past 40, the extra pounds only made her softer and more approachable - being plump didn't dim her glamour or charisma one iota. In fact I think it added to her powerful presence to have a bit of meat on her bones.
She was utterly gorgeous, and quite a home body with husband Alan Lake and their young son Jason. Diana loved to potter round the kitchen cooking delicious meals for her family, with no make up and her hair tied back in a pony tail. I think it must have been quite something to know her as a friend.
Watching this video, it's hard to believe she had just 6 months to live, she was as sparkling and charismatic as ever. God bless her, she will be remembered forever, and always with smiles.
Diana Dors was a true one off. A beautiful soul, inside and out. I grew up watching her on the television, and found her immensely talented, warm, kindly, and so down to earth. We could all relate to her, and I was deeply saddened at her untimely passing. Rest now dear Diana, and thank you for such wonderful memories of my childhood. ❤️❤️❤️

Truth - Diana was a true STAR, Nick Owen (and the ghastly Anne Diamond) were mediocre as hell, without even a fraction of her star quality and charisma! Diana was always a total knockout, and never lost her magic and glamour, even at her heaviest. My god she is missed!

TV AM Was truly dreadful but I remember this and Diana did look gorgeous once again. Little did we know as well as the diet it was only a few months before she died of cancer. Her last film was STEAMING check it out the first scene she is in a bathing costume and looks like a goddess.

Her son died just 1 week ago, 15th sept 2019. She also died too soon. How iconic she was, a UK Monroe. I remember being around 9 years old at this time and was in awe of her I even called my blonde doll Diana. I dont remember her being so posh I always thought she spoke with a cockney accent. I always remember her in Hammer house of horror.
In England she is absolutely iconic.
I also remember her from the horror pictures she appeared in. She had a huge screen presence in those films. They were normally small parts, but she was always very memorable.

Nick Owen's such a tit, he always made my skin crawl. I worked with him once as a TV researcher - he kept a pair of ladies knickers sent to him by a (mentally ill) viewer, pinned to his office noticeboard. He cheated on his wife constantly - nasty little twerp. Diana had the measure of him!

I do love Diana Dors .... She was such a genuine sweetheart so pure and kind. I miss her immensely. The different roles she played were top class. I will never forget my neighbour who told me our lovely Diana had passed away she was sobbing and I was heartbroken 💔 too, a lot of tears shed on that sad day. Your so dearly missed.

The sad thing about this weigh in program was that Diana was dying of cancer at this point and this weight loss roose was actually covering the fact that she was losing weight because of her illness.
But she played this whole thing up and as the conssumate professional performer that she was kept a brave and convincing face smiling through the entire proceeding never letting on.
She looks pretty chubby here! I would’ve guessed she had cancer but I know she did . Cancer patients need the weight and calories to fight.

In my 8 yr old brain, when my dad died he hated "That fat cow". As an 8 yr old it was all about me, 'cause when ur 8, it is. So, from a pleasantly plump child, an eating disorder emerged. Stuff it. Puke it. Starve it. Whatever. Now at 52? What was that all about? I am as I am, now. Funny old life. Thank's, Di you gave it a go...life that is. Screw the diet. Be happy. x

As a kid i only knew Diana from TV Am as this lovely woman with a amazing personality. I had no idea she was a famous actress back then, such a beautiful woman in many ways and i looked forward to seeing her on TV am because she was so lovely.

Not the most beautiful?? I disagree. I think her face was much prettier than any other actress in her time. When I first saw her in one of her old movies from the 50s, I thought her face, her eyes and lips were much prettier than Marilyn Monroe's. Marilyn didn't have Diana's lips and eyes. Diana should have been way more famous than she was.

Yes, Diana was all woman, and I think she was loved by the public because she was every woman too - you admired her as someone who could be your mum, your auntie, you sister, lover or friend. She was wonderful, so gorgeous and glamorous with powerful charisma - but always so king and self-effacing with it. A highly intelligent lady too. My God she is missed!

You have to wonder if some of Diana's weight loss resulted from her illness and the treatment she was receiving. That said, she looks fabulous and is clearly every inch the consummate professional. Has anyone noticed the speaking clock doing its thing on the soundtrack? Now that really takes me back...
