    Good evening, thank you for sharing this amazing video. I would like to ask a question please. The Pocket 3 just arrived and I've already done some tests, but only by "eye". I do video editing and my eye is quite trained, but I haven't seen a difference in video quality between filming with the "Normal" and "D-Log" options. Yes, it's certainly a softer image, but in practice I don't see a leap in image quality. Can you see it? I don't know if you use the Pocket 3 often, can I ask you if you use it with the "Normal" option or with "D-Log"?*
    Thank you

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  5 місяців тому

      That’s a great question. So I do notice that Normal and D-Log M after grading look similar. The biggest difference I notice in quality that stands out the most is when filming in HLG mode. That workflow for grading is a bit different of course but I have created a video on HLG as well. That is available here: ua-cam.com/video/tiZLYfl4AiE/v-deo.htmlsi=lSapCV_QZxtXg4A7

    Great video, thanks! I loved my Pocket 2, but the 3 fixes my biggest issues with the 2 (mainly the screen size and video quality), so I jumped on it quickly! Good setup tips here, but I'd note that setting it to D-Log M apparently limits the max ISO to 3200 rather than 6400. Hopefully not too big a deal, you can always switch to Low Light mode when you need that boost. For the size and convenience, this camera looks like a big win to me, and worth the extra bucks.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому

      Thanks for sharing this information as well! Yes, I definitely agree and recommend switching to low light mode is the way to go if in lighting that justifies needing an ISO higher than 3200. The low light mode with noise reduction on this camera is simply amazing and the ISO in low light mode goes all the way up to 16000 if needed.

    i really found this video very helpful as my Pocket 3 will arrive tomorrow. I've seen some other UA-cam videos with frame rate and shutter speed were set separately. Was this done through the Mimo app?

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому

      You are able to set frame rate via the main menu at the bottom and then to set a static shutter speed value you would do this by bringing up the menu on the right and selecting M under the Exposure option. You can then select a static shutter speed value there. This is especially useful when using ND filters and for the 180 degree shutter rule for motion blur.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  5 місяців тому

      Wow, yes you’ve got a lot of DJI devices. It’s a matter of preference mostly. 5500K is a bit warmer and 5000K will be a bit cooler. Either is okay during daylight and mostly is for the feel of the footage that you’d like (warmer vs cooler).

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you. You should be okay with that card. That card you got is on the list DJI recommends for the Pocket 3 as fully compatible. My card is a bit overkill for this camera but on the Osmo Action 4 the standard SanDisk Extreme card would not keep up in certain filming situations so I bought an extra for the OA4 and now have it for this camera 😂

    • @iamrishio
      @iamrishio 9 місяців тому +1

    • @GreatDayForAHike

    Great camera and Ive been having alot of fun with it. My only gripe is that I lost my wide angle lens on the first day with it while casually recording with it at the zoo. I didn't think too much about the lens falling off, because everyone was stating that it is a stronger magnet and it should stick better, but to my surprise, my wide angle lens was gone when I checked my gimbal the following day. Such a bummer, for $50, I'm worried it would pop off again somehow and end up lost. Other than that, it's a wonderful camera.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  8 місяців тому

      Yes it is a fun camera. I agree, that wide angle lens is easy to lose. I have noticed the magnet isn’t all that strong. The $50 price tag on the wide angle lens seems a bit steep too.

      If you’re referring to the footage that was filmed with the Osmo Pocket 3 menus this was filmed on the iPhone 15 Pro in ProRes mode to an external SSD. The SSD and cable were plenty fast enough to support this but there was still some type of issue. Apple apparently is aware of this and working on a solution. Nice video.
    This might be me playing within the settings is when I use the screen flip to start the camera and start recording automatically, when I press the button to stop recording that first clip, the camera wants to turn off. It gives me 2 seconds on the screen to hit 'Continue' or it shuts off.
    If I turn the camera on with the button, it works fine. Surely the benefit of being able to turn the screen to start the camera and start recording automatically is not as useful if it wants to shut down as soon as you stop filming that first clip.
    Is it as setting I have changed, I cant find it if it is?

      Thank you. Yes, this function is called "Screen Rotate & Capture." If you swipe down from the top to the Control Menu, this option should be the second one from the left on the top row. If you toggle this off, this will return the device to the standard function of rotating the screen to have it power on without recording at power on.

      @@GreatDayForAHike Thanks for the reply, found it, I must have turned it on. Shame it tries to turn off again as soon as you stop the first clip. I’ve got another question. Do you know if you can stack filters? I’m especially interested if I can you stack the black mist filter with nd filters and am also wondering what happens if you turn the camera off with the filter on the lens.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому +1

      These are both great questions! You cannot stack filters unfortunately. That is a real bummer because the combo of filters you mention would be fabulous.
      If you turn it off with the filter on there, there is not enough clearance for the gimbal to tuck in without the filter hitting.

    • @iamrishio
      @iamrishio 9 місяців тому +1

      @@GreatDayForAHike Thanks for the replies! Appreciate it. I guess I can live without stacking, but it would be very problematic if I had to put on and take off the nd filter everytime I turn on and off the camera. I don’t think any reviewers talked about this but I saw an old video which said you had to take off the nd filter for the pocket 2 because there wasn’t any clearance and it also effected the gimbal balance.

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому

      @iamrishio Correction: the filter does have to remove if you want the camera to tuck in all the way when powering off.

      @iamrishio 9 місяців тому +1

      @@GreatDayForAHike Ahh, that’s too bad. For clarification, can it be turned off without being tucked away and still work properly or does it go bonkers if you accidentally turn it off with an nd filter attached? I can’t imagine how I would use this with an ND filter to film unless I leave the camera on all the time somehow.

    • @GreatDayForAHike

    • @GreatDayForAHike
      @GreatDayForAHike  9 місяців тому +1

      @brianfentress4739 Yes, with this camera due to the 1” sensor and the mechanical stabilization unless I am using ND filters I leave the shutter speed at Auto.
