Where do you live and what is your cost of living per month?
it's about me to consider to have a job in Zurich, the global-highest-cost city
😁
Hi Lisa.. I'm Dino and am from the northern marianas islands in the pacific.. cost of living here is a little lower than there and I've been thinking myself to relocate to mountainous regions of Switzerland.. I'd like to know the cost of living from places like Wengen and Lauterbrunnen specifically. thanks😊😊
Lets calculate:
Single Person
4,500chF gross income in Zurich is about 3700 net?? Im not sure here but lets stick to that meanwhile.
-1100 outside city for rent apartment
-400 Health insurance
-800 grocery
-40 other insurance?
-20-30 for phone
-0-50 for transport
-65 (gym 800chF/year is about 65chF/month)
= 1215chF
Did i miss something?
If this is correct, this is still about 200chF more than i have now/month. I think i have something thats equal to 1300chF after first day of income after i paid some food, apartment, and other inscurance. I still have 27days left on this month hehe.. I could end up at 1000chF, if i do not do to much things at the end of the month.
Hi, I would like to ask you an important question it can be a little bit out of the topic but I would like to stay in Switzerland lausane for 6 months but I can't find any rent it's so hard if you could give me any suggestions to where I look for apartments that would be hopeful thank you
Thanks for the very detailed video, very helpful!
This is very accurate. And you are talking netto expenses. It means your brutto salary has to be 20%-30% more to be able to pay everything. And you forgot to add the monthly payments to the taxes, so you can add to your 7500 netto more 1500 netto for the taxes, which YOU have to pay from your salary…not to mention the 20% already deduced from your salary at the company. You should actualise your video, because now in 2024 you can add 30% to 50% to all your bills…. I really hate living here and I feel that I really don’t live and don’s enjoy the good things Switzerland has to offer…I just survive
Great video, thank you!
Thanks!
One Item I haven't seen mentionned was the taxes :) This of course differs a lot (income, Single vs family, rented vs bought house / flat, etc).. Just to keep in mind that there are some other "expenses" to pay that are going towards the taxes :)
In NY and Washinton DC and surrounding suburb areas the rents are much higher than Switzerland, but all the other cost are less. Seeing as housing is the largest monthly cost for most, it's about a wash between the two countries.
Looking at living costs in London, prices for average rent are much lower. What you pay for 45m2 studio here you can pay for one bedroom in share accommodation, also 2-4 bedroom cost, are much lower, plus the fact that oin Swizerland professional make much more money. Visiting Geneve, I have not notice "hi prices" for groceries, and public transport etc. And living standards are much, much higher, an much lower taxes in Swizterland.
Good to know, thanks for sharing!
Very informative.
Thank you
great thank you for sharing
You are welcome
Hi can i ask is the job HOTELIER/RECEPTIONIST/FRONT DESK IN HOTEL ARE IN DEMAND IN SWITZERLAND
Hi i want to move in Zurich in next year wanting to do some professional job, but it seems low demand in my subject area for example I have done Masters in social sciences age 29. However i want to do short courses that have the higher possibilities of getting a job. I dont have any other language skills except English. What would be your suggestion in my case? I am tired of trying other ways of getting an information, would you please some valuable suggestion please?
I live in Pfäffikon ZH. Single, 42, big appartement (3.5 rooms, Parking Spot) for 1700sFr
I do not save money at all and I spend around 60000chf per year all included from a salary of around 90000 (before taxes and deductions)
Edit: this means I save about 30000 per year
Thanks for sharing the info
But you're single. Once you have family, things will be different, of course, your income is high compare with normal people.
Thank you for video! What about contribution to retirement account? Is there any?

You can estimate based on the info in the video
Hi Liza, i have an opportunity to go to work to Zürich. I am a Technician in perception systems. Im living in Munich right now, and i earn 47.000€, my wife earns another 30.000€ let´s say... They offer me 60.000 francs... do you think it is fair? i can speak spanish, german, english and italian, and i have almost 4 years of experience besides im 22... i think it is not enough... should i try to negotiate my salary? Cheers... hopefully can you help me
The connection costs for the Internet are provider-specific, if you have Cablecom / Quickline (TV connection), then these are inevitable.
You normally do not pay any additional fees for fiber optic connections or telephones (e.g. Salt / Swisscom), but you have to cancel the TV connection (if necessary, have it sealed), then the CHF 30 no longer applies (Read the conditions for termination in the rental agreement or on the Internet!).
Living in outskirts or neighboring towns can also reduce housing costs considerably. By the way, depending on the region, housing costs and salaries are very different.
I look forward to your video about public transport.
thanks a lot for the info
Last month I rejected a job offer from Zurich. Outside of a few companies the salaries are not that much higher than is possible in other countries while those countries have much lower CoL in comparison (especially if you like to eat out a lot)
And especially if you need a daily care up to the age 4 😅
What was the net you were offered?🤔 i'm currently analyzing if i should accept an offer in Zurich with a net of around 7k
@@valentinmandache6447 i'm also curious about what was the offer... IT jobs pay from 8 to 13k CHF per month depending on the attributes of the job. By my research, it's a nice wage for living over there.
@@valentinmandache6447 The offer was 130k CHF gross
@@MikeMike-ms1ns which countries pay better and have the same quality of life?🤔
HI liza, i was wandering is 15,000 euro a month enough for 4 -5 people, include like traveling around switzerland
haha its a question, i forgot to put the question mark
It depends, if there are 3 kids out of 5 and all go to Krippe (daily care) than it already makes ca 9000 out of 15 😅
@@lizastime ok thanks
You should mention that you are Living in one of the most expensive Cities in the World.
I have relatives living in Luzern & pay rent for 130 kvm2 at a 1700 chf price.
Comparing to Sweden and its personal incomes it is very much Cheaper in Switzerland than Sweden so be happy about that🙂
Thanks for sharing the info!
I tried to figure out what and why people say it is so expensive in switzerland. Here in sweden it is expensive and taxes are high and salary are low. I dont really get it. Switzerland still sounds better.
@@xuzm I've heard the same about Sweden being expensive with high laxes and low salaries, but what about Norway or the other Scandinavian countries?
@@dantedaimon5919 well, ive figured out that the schools and so on are very cheap compared to other countries here in Sweden.
Ive heard that Norway is a good place, iknow people working there for better salary. Food etc is more expensive but in the end i think you will have much more over each month since Sweden have high taxes, food are getting really expensive here also, and the fuel costs much more than anywhere in the world.
Finland is pretty good also from what Ive heard. Denmark also.
I'm 48 old years can I still get a job in Switzerland can I got a work visa Sister ?
Hi Dear if come Any European Country's after can work in Swiss. If I get others country visit visa...kindly tell us. We are from Gulf Country....Thanks
Hi Lisa, if you do not mind, may you please provide us how much does it cost for a college study in a country side, and is it allowed to work and how much we can earn per month?
I am a little uncomfortable with the high cost. In Espoo, Finland I pay around 1100 euros per month for a 3.5 zimmer 70sqm. Is it not possible to save money by living outside of the city more? For instance if remote work is as popular there as it is in most other places in Europe, I don't see the need to live in the city anymore. It would also be interesting to know if they have restrictions on the number of tenants based upon the number of rooms (like in Deutschland), that could be painful for people with more children. And I have another question, how do young children spend their time if their parents cannot afford to send them to preschool? In my mind the purpose of these places is not only to allow parents to work, it is for socialisation, and to engage your children in novel educational and play activities; I hear many people act as though they are ignorant of these aspects. Is it to say that because it is so expensive that children lack socialisation during their most formative years?
Yes, living outside the city you get much better price / quality
There are some play groups for a couple of hours for a much lower price, or outside on the playgrounds or with the children of friends
Don't mind can make it
800/m is food for a family of 3?
2 adults and a child
The cost of public transport is more expensive than having a car? 😳
100 CH per average for a restaurant???
The social security net doesn't seem that great...
I would not say that public transport is more expensive than having a car but it is expensive) yes, restaurant is quite a pain if you go with a family, at least in comparison to other countries
Здрасти паспорт swiss 2021 a.e
Holy hell, is Switzerland expensive or what ? !!! ( If I had to speculate, some of this could be that Switzerland is essentially a land locked country, with no easy access to sea going cargo/ fuel ships that can bring in low cost goods/ petrol from around the world to the people there. )
