    I would not normally say that Mario Brothers music would be soothing, but when you put it on top of that high speed dirt roller pushin and digging and cutting, it almost puts me in a trance. Very nice job. And it was very wise of you to bring Ben out there to push uphill.

    I'm planning a big reno this August, we just bought this house in October 2019 and the lawn looks 1000% better now than it did when we were moving in. I've been a lawn freak for about 3 years now, but my last house was a rental, so I was only willing to go so far with the money and time investment there. But this place needs leveling badly, and it needs to be nuked and started all over from scratch. I just keep envisioning how it's going to easily win best in the neighborhood. There are a few nice lawns in this town, but nothing at all like I want to do. In 3 years, I'll be reel mowing at 7mm. So that's the goal for August, major renovation. I cannot freaking wait to get started! I downloaded this video as a reference source.

    • @kove
      @kove  4 роки тому

      Awesome! Getting it level, nuking it all will be having it looking pristine come late fall, especially next spring and fall. Be sure to take before and after pics and video, plus keep a journal of everything you do in the lawn, go back in reference mine in Google sheets multiple times a week. Have you picked what seed you'll use?

    what a hard work! Great job..!! very impressive. I want to do a full reno and seed 100% KBG grass.. I just don't have enough time and manpower. After I moved into a home, I have been overseeding with 80%KBG & 20%PRG mix in mixed grass type lawn. and it's so bumpy😵‍💫 Instead of removing the entire sod, would it be still okay to scalp the existing lawn and seed 100% KBG ? I know I should level the lawn first..
    I have been looking for Mazama and some other varieties that can handle low cut.

    • @kove
      @kove  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! That would work, just make sure and get the seed covered. There's an infinite continuum of complications between the perfect fluffy soil bed, top dressed with a quarter inch- and throwing seed on hard bare ground.
      That sounds like you got handle on things, I think it will turn out good. If I was in your position I would regret not taking the opportunity and level it.

    Where did you get your seed from ? I got my from super seed store. Mix of Midnight, bluebank, blueberry. The site said 1lbs per 1k for overseed and 2lbs per 1K for new... I put down 1.5lbs over my TTTF. I know all the other lawn channels are throwing it down. But KBG seed is smaller? Did I not put down enough?

    • @kove
      @kove  5 років тому +1

      I got mine from a local place near St Louis. 4lbs per 1k is heavy, most seed around 2. I think 1.5lbs overseed will work well for you. KBG indeed is much smaller than fescue seed. That's a great combo of seed you picked out btw!

    • @lmSteveo
      @lmSteveo 5 років тому

      I went with those bec they are more of a dark deep green. I want to dominate my neighbors! After watching your video this makes me want to do a full Reno and make it all KBG! I like how KBG spreads and how dark it is. I’m in Maryland, kinda near the middle like you with the cool and warm season grasses. With temps reaching 90s in the summer. I hear TTTF is the best as heat stress. But it doesn’t fill in and you always have to overseed in the fall and it’s not as dark green. And you cant cut short ! It’s been almost 5 days and I haven’t seen germination yet. I know it takes some time. I’m watering 4-5 times a day at 5mins per zone to just keep the seed moist (full sun all day). I hope it turns out well. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see more videos !

    • @kove
      @kove  5 років тому +1

      Tttf is marks up 80% of the lawns here of people who care. I've only seen a small handful of kbg. Do the Reno! Don't be scared to do it in the spring either. I tested a spring Reno (Mazama kbg) and it did very well through summer with very little maintenance. Thanks for watching!👌

    • @kove
      @kove  5 років тому

      Thanks Matt! Great climate for KBG or Rye, I've never researched Rye as much as KBG, is Eagel an Elite cultivar? I purchased my Mazama from Belleville Seed House, east of St Louis, they don't have a website, unsure if they'd ship. I've never heard of Hancock, but from my experience, I'd never buy seed over the web, too much of a markup for the little convenience it provides. Thanks, cutting the sod reminded me of slicing bushes with a sword!

    • @mags219_81

      Yes, blue tag from Ewing Irrigation (10 mins away) Fastball, Grand Slam, and Charismatic for Chicago region but diff in others. Exactly my thoughts. Wanted to support local, but Hancock (Florida) had great prices and free ship on 25# bags, had me debating a mono of Granite KBG

      @@kove you're welcome! I've seen it before! I built a 1200 square foot putting green in my backyard which I spend a TON of time and money maintaining. I had one corner where the turf was just weak and I'd lose it in the summer. Frustrating! Somehow in my original dig out I was just barely too shallow to miss a root just like the one you have. It curled right into the corner and then out again. I caught it when I did a vertidrain operation and spiked 9" deep. Dug it up, cut it out, refilled the area with sand and now that corner is flush. That one root was just sucking the all the life out of that small area.
