I know this was released two years ago, but to anyone in the comments that ever dealt with a situation like this, as a Resident Assistant I feel it important to let you know that resources like me DO exist for situations like this in a dormitory or residence hall. If things between you and your roommate are becoming like this, getting a third, unbiased party involved can help keep things from escalating and prevent the truth regarding the events taking place from being twisted or misconstrued.
That is quite literally what my job is at my residence hall. Whenever new roommates move in together in my hallway, I sit down with them and go through a whole questionnaire of what preferences, dislikes, schedules, and lifestyle habits that both roommates should know about each other when they begin living in a shared space. A Roommate Agreement NEEDS to be made and signed by both roommates and the RA before they can continue living together. These sorts of agreements are created specifically for situations like Yoon's, and I'm so sorry if that option was not available to her.
TLDR, please talk to your hallway's Resident Assistant if things with your roommate get out of hand like this. Yoon is right. You have just as much right to the room as your roommate and if a contract needs to be made to confirm that, then that's what should be done. And if Resident Assistants are not a thing at your dorm, consult the head of the building instead. They can help you too.

Tbh, the very beginning, I think is understandable. I think it’s reasonable for someone to be a sensitive sleeper, and to request, say, lights out at 11 pm maybe? No lights and no calls in the room at that time, and if you need to do those things, you can’t be in the room at that time. Idk tho, just my input, and to say the other person isn’t allowed in the room AT ALL *is* unreasonable for sure, as well as just, being rude about it
Yeah no, I agree. At the beginning I was like. That's perfectly reasonable. As someone who roomed with someone in a extremely small room, its so easy to hear them, and have even very dim light be obnoxious.
But yeah, throughout the rest of the video it was pretty clear that these requests weren't discussed very well or agreed upon before hand. By the end it was clear that she was an ass who didn't like having to share a room.

I'm really sensitive to sounds and light so i can get how it can be annoying :/ I try my best to use white noise to block out sounds and put a blanket over my head to block light if i feel like *I'm* being too much but i really do need darkness and quiet or i feel sick when i wake up (if i get any sleep). Her kicking you out all the time is really weird though. And her trying to make you feel guilty by using her parents is reaaalllly freaking weird lol. I hated having a roommate. Mine used to come home and literally take out all her negative feelings on me 🥴
I'm the same as you. Which is why I'll probably never have a roommate. I need a lot of sleep to manage, which is hard to get when there's strong computer lights or someone talking.
uhh, the sleeping situation. i totally understand what the roomate is talking abt. i sleep with 2 other people in my bedroom, so at night, i sometimes hear my sister with her boyfriend on call, which can atually get really annoying. you know the saying, you can hear a pin drop from a mile away, its kinda like that. its so silent at night, that you can hear everything. and bc your tryin to knock-out, you try to shut everuthing down, but in the end, the only thing that you can focus on is the other person voice. even clicks of the pen can be extremely ear piercing at night. so, yeah...i have to agree with the roomie there.

Some roommates can be so crude :( I have experience myself and it’s hard to deal with crude people when you don’t want to be too crude in return.

As someone with sensory issues, I just want to remind everyone that yeah, "being too loud" can be an actual issue for some of us, like autistic people. Clicking stuff and repeating noises drive me insane and close to a meltdown, even when someone snores - noise is just bad to me. Being mean like this girl is totally not okay, but don't just make assumptions about people without asking!

I used to have loud roommates (and their class of 14 friends) and i moved out. before the process of moving out and being reassigned to a single room in another dorm was finished (my old schools housing office was. more the problem than my roommates were) i talked to my friends, slept in academic buildings, the library, common rooms, friends' dorms, went around day and late at night rather than actually confronting my roommates and having that potentially turn into a fight.
i cant imagine fighting with roommates in general or getting into conflict where someone could easily retaliate on the slightest provocation bc i live with them and see them every day. going thru my head all the shit that anyone could do to me. then again i have a paranoia complex and they were good ppl so i didnt want to confront them even more and it was hard to stay mad at them for long. it could always be a lot worse and unlucky. we already talked stuff out and compromised at the beginning of the year. But unforrtunately, shit changes unless ive known someone for a long time and even before all this i was never entirely comfortable around them or ppl in general. They eventually got kinda worried about me texted me about where ive been for days prob thought i was about to go missing. i either dodged the questions, came up with partially true answers, or ghosted them.

I try my best to be a good roommate. I pick up after myself, and I keep things to myself so that I don’t intrude on the orher(s) in the room/dorm. But I can also imagine what it’d be like to have an annoying/toxic roommate as well. While in college there were roommate disputes happening at least once a month, and I get a front row seat of the bad cases I dodged. 😂

Bruh my sister went through something similar too! Her roommate was nice at first (I’m pretty sure roommates in general act nice at first and then eventually show their true colors or you become close with them) it started to escalate a bit like for example: the light part and the fact that my sister was the only one doing the chores for a whole month (they were supposed to take turns every week but my sister has been doing it for a month) and other things had happened too so she decided to have a talk with her about it calmly but it didn’t go well instead of coming to an agreement it turned into an argument when that roommate had the audacity to gaslight my sister that her hair has been falling out bc of her like um that’s not my sister’s problem :| and she moved out without letting her know and even took the essential items she needs on daily basis. My mom tried to talk to that roommate’s mom about it and she needs to communicate properly but she was just the same as that b*tch and claimed that her daughter’s the victim here. We’re not the type to interact with losers like her so we didn’t try to make it work out since we were talking to a wall at this point. My sister currently is doing well with her new roommate who is her childhood friend and I’m glad that she won’t have a problem like this again :)

My ex roommate was manipulative and toxic too 🫠 she sees nothing wrong with her behavior… I feel so bad for her boyfriend and kids. Especially when she gets mad because she stops caring how her behavior affects everyone else. Especially her kids. She doesn’t care if DHS takes away her chance to regain full custody then gets mad at us for not stopping her from messing up. She threatens and hits people who try to calm her down! :(
