Good morning. Another great video. Always enjoy watching you. A mine of information, clearly presented, in you calming and delightful voice. I'm currently sewing a skirt on my Singer 99K hand crank, my favourite machine. I'm adding an invisible zip so will swap to my "Jerome" when I do that part. Sometimes when I change between the two I have to stop myself reaching up for the hand crank - nothing there 😕 Have a lovely day 😊🌻from Oz
Thank you! 😊 I have moments like that with Grandma... I'll put my foot on the treadle and wonder why nothings happening... oh... yeah... I've got to pedal this one 😆 Thanks so much for watching!
Scoured the internet for precise information on needle and thread direction for older machines (without a manual) and watched a lot of bad videos, and then it paid off. Brilliant. Exactly what I needed. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video! I have a Singer 15B and it threads from right to left as opposed to many other 15's variations. I have so much trouble with my stitching until I watched this and turned my needle 180 degrees. :)
Happy to help! I have two Singer 15s. One is the 15-91 and the other is the 15K80. One threads left to right, and the other right to left... I think Singer was having a bit of a giggle when he made the 15! lol 😀 One thing is for certain, whichever way the 15 threads - it's one of the best workhorses you can get! Enjoy! Thanks for watching 🙂
This fixed my problem!!! I had the needle the other way and thought something was wrong inside!! God bless you!! You are fearfully and wonderfully made 😅❤😊😌
Dear Lord I've been messing with my ancient singer that looks a lot like your grandma for an hour I'm dyslexic so it makes it harder and I haven't sewn in a long time thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!❤❤❤❤❤ I had this information written in Sharpie on my old cabinet but I recently changed the cabinet and threw away the old one😂
Thank you for a wonderful video where you cleared all the queries I had about fixing the needle on my sewing machine. I'm glad you addressed the two machines side by side because I was beginning to wonder if there was a problem because my needle hoke faced the front. 🙏😊
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I bought an old Godfrey Sterling machine and was surprised that the needle was positioned differently to my other machines. Now I've learned something new 😊
But the last thread guide above the needle on my 201 is in the front. 😭 I think I just need to keep a little card next to all my machines. My modern Pfaff is front to back, and all my vintages are a mix of left-to-right and right-to-left.
Ah, the 201. A fantastic machine but one that loves to throw us a googly now and then. I've looked at different pictures and that wire guide is on the left, on the right, and on the front... it's almost like Singer couldn't decide where it looked best. What you'll need to do, is look for the needle slot. It's just above the needle clamp. It'll be on the right on the 201 meaning it threads right to left. Whereas, on the 99, the 201's baby sister, it's on the left because the 99 threads from left to right. Vintage Singers like to keep us on our toes. Thanks for watching 🙂
I've got a 15 and it confused me because I grew up on a real featherweight. The 15 threads right to left and now I know why I can never remember which way to put a needle in. Having bad skipping issues all of a sudden 🙄
I feel your pain! I have two 15s a 15-91 that threads right to left, and a 15K80 that threads left to right...Both are near identical machines so I'm always getting those two the wrong way round. Knowing the secret about the thread guide has helped a lot! Is your needle in all the way? Sometimes mine skips when it's too far down in the needle bar. Check your bobbin is in the right way too. My 15s are both like Goldilocks - everything has to be just right. Thanks so much for watching! 😀
If you thought that was impressive... you should see me hammer curl a vintage sewing machine: ua-cam.com/users/shorts4VPeDkbJALA?feature=share it's around 10 seconds so might better suit your attention span. Thanks for watching.

Great tips.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching! 😀
So since my Kenmore sewing machine needles are threaded from the front, therefore needles are inserted round side front, flat side back. Thank you!
