@@Abornazine_ it sure isn't. i abhored ideology the moment i left my christian indoctrination behind many years ago. and many other dogmatic systems, whether political, economic, social, spiritiual etc. have followed it ever since. meditation and all the other tools are great for investigation/discovery and ajahn brahms instructions on this topic are as good as they can get, in my mind. but buddhism as a system with all this superstitious/mystical/esoteric beliefs, historic rituals and sexist bigheaded lineage worship seems to be, sadly, nothing but more religious horseshit. (sorry for the language.)
one of the five hindrences (to be abandoned for entering jhanas and to progress further along the path) is doubt! stop doubting and start believing the buddhas doctrine. ..seems like more 'view' for the cycle of vipallasa. what i'm really missing here is the 'dont believe, find out for yourself'-part. if it's real and practical it should take the pressure, shouldn't it?
guess i was holding on to the view of (theravada) buddhism as mind-science (as so often portraited/defended) and to brahm, a western monk as a figure. but after scratching the surface, more dogma comes to light :-/ still, this doesn't invalidate meditation as a method or spiritual endeavors in general.

@@artoffighting06 Thanks for sharing your experience and insights to us. Like any subject in the world, be it math, science, business, language... no one is suitable to be trained in Buddhism through the same way. As we’re born with conditioned kamma (DNA & epigenetic), everyone will have different levels of perception to different subject matters. So the Buddha suggests, do not believe everything he says blindly, see what your nature is able to see, and the rest, do not contemplate on it as it will be a waste of your time and energy. Of course, doubt is necessary, like science which follows a strict scientific method, but for the ordinary people, the Buddha challenges the process of which they arrive at their conclusions with - is it really truth, or assumptions based on perceived understanding? While you are free to question Buddha’s method, my personal suggestion is to not contemplate on it. What’s important is being mindful in every moment of life, based on the dhamma that you can understand and take as truth. In fact Buddha stresses on taking action more than anything. How you interact with friends and strangers, how you work, how you eat, how you face suffering, are all valuable trainings for our mind to be more wholesome, not just meditation. Not everyone become Bhikkhus because we can’t force ourselves to go through doctoral level training when we are still fighting for toys and crying for love from our parents. So it’s totally okay to take Buddhism lightly, a slow and gradual process will win in the long-term. Despite your decisions, truly wishing peace to you.

Bare perception is already distorted, we see what we want to see...in seeing just seeing, hearing just hearing, all perception through senses without any filters of judgement or evaluation takes practice; views/beliefs bend perception, thought and reality. We overlook the suffering in sex, pregnancy, marriage; overcome five hindrances to develop trust in dhamma..things freeing than entangling is the happiness of Ariyans

In all respect. His mind is so unfocused. His teaching so superficial. Doubt he might ever make it to higher. If he would remained an ordinary lay follower, it would have been better for him.

What kind of human actually judges kindness as a win or lose situation? It must be dreadful being you. May you be free from suffering.
