Small spiders like this can survive huge falls unharmed and I'm sure this one was fine, but pulled down by 5 times its weight in significantly denser material likely gives it enough speed to hit the ground and actually get hurt.

“Don’t worry, when it falls it won’t get hurt because it’s surface area to mass ratio is so big it has a lot of wind resistance it won’t get hurt” Is the mass ratio before the extra mass is added?
@@radornic2387 it would’ve already hit an increased velocity before the weights hit the ground though, and there wouldn’t be enough time for it to decelerate. Either way, even if it didn’t get hurt, I doubt the spider liked what was happening. Lol
@@punxOiOi13 No matter the weight of the object, something in a free fall will always have the same acceleration, regardless of weight. If you drop a truck and a ball bearing at the same point in the sky, they will both hit the ground at the same time. Basic physics.
@@radornic2387 I get what your saying, and that would be true under unrealistic conditions(no wind resistance). But that was disproven on this same channel. He used a vacuum chamber to compare a feather and I think it was a ball bearing, something metal, and that principle held true. But before he vacuumed the air out, it didn’t work.
@@punxOiOi13 It's a feather, it's air resistance is obviously great. So it's gonna be falling slower. However, a spider and a small weight will still follow the principle because of such little air resistance. Take 2 different mass objects right now and perform the experiment of dropping those 2 things at the same time at the same point. They're gonna be hitting the ground almost, if not exactly, the same time.
The Action Lab, you probably won't read this, but I really appreciate the amount of hard work you put in your videos, you explain everything clearly and give examples if an idea seems hard to understand, your videos are really informative and you choose your topics very well. Thank you for this :)
Same way you make a fly-on-a-string. They're cold blooded so if you put them in a low temperature environment their biological and brain functions slow right down to the point where they're kind of comatose (not sure on the correct terminology, still alive but only the heart and respiratory system are functioning and only barely). You tie a little slip knot out of cotton and put the noose around one of the narrow segments of the body and gently tighten being careful not to crush it, once the noose is in place you put him in somewhere warm until he comes back to life. When you want to get the leash off you just pop him back in the cold until he goes to sleep and carefully snip the knot. Careful with using a freezer though as very few cold blooded creatures can survive sub zero temperatures for long, they need a kind of antifreeze present in their blood to stop it freezing and bursting the blood vessels and causing terminal damage. This adaptation is sometimes present in desert invertebrates due to the need to survive the massive swings between day/night temperatures or overwinter. I can't remember the name but there is a grasshopper/cricket which is effectively dead (no pulse, no breathing, no brain activity) for months at a time during the winter and then somehow comes back to life when temperatures return to acceptable levels.

@@sophiacristina Here’s a thing J found online from here: www.britannica.com/list/9-of-the-worlds-deadliest-spiders Brazilian Wandering Spiders (Phoneutria fera and P. nigriventer) These species are sometimes also referred to as banana spiders because they are frequently found on banana leaves. They have an aggressive defense posture, in which they raise their front legs straight up into the air. Phoneutria are poisonous to humans, and they are considered to be the deadliest of all the world’s spiders. Their venom is toxic to the nervous system, causing symptoms such as salivation, irregular heartbeat, and prolonged, painful erections (priapism) in men. Scientists are investigating the venom of P. nigriventer as a possible treatment for erectile dysfunction. In late 2013, a family in London, England, had to move out of their home so it could be fumigated, because it became infested with tiny Brazilian wandering spiders. An egg sac deposited in a banana bunch was shipped to the family’s local grocery store. (The egg sac went undetected by the supermarket chain and the importing company it works with.) After the bananas were purchased, the egg sac broke open, releasing its potentially deadly contents.

In Soviet Russia walls hold up spiders
In Soviet Russia man bites spider
In Soviet Russia spider shoots you with AK-47
I really had enough with these very old "in Soviet Russia" or "Chuck Norris" jokes. They weren't funny to begin with.

“Don’t worry, when it falls it won’t get hurt because it’s surface area to mass ratio is so big it has a lot of wind resistance it won’t get hurt”
Is the mass ratio before the extra mass is added?
The weights would hit the ground first and the surface to mass ratio for the spider would still be the same.
Just imagine the role play is reversed.

Theyre invertebrates, they can survive large drops
I really wanna know how you even got his “leash” tied to him😂
Freezer. They get really cold a shut down and sleep, but when you take them out they warm back up and start moving again
I'll do this to the spiders in my house so they never come back again😂

Here’s a thing J found online from here: www.britannica.com/list/9-of-the-worlds-deadliest-spiders
Brazilian Wandering Spiders (Phoneutria fera and P. nigriventer)
These species are sometimes also referred to as banana spiders because they are frequently found on banana leaves.
