Some people put an iron block in their soups in order to add nutrients, it's called an iron fish Most deodorants (if not all) contain aluminum in them that is intended to block your pores, this gets absorbed by your skin and wreaks havoc on your kidneys. Thats faaaaar worse than iron powder

I think it goes up your nose because you clean your forehead first, pulling the fibers on your upper lip into your nose. Starting with your lower face and mouth would likely prevent that. 😄

How did you clean your steel pennies so well? I have quite a few from bulk wheat pennies I bought at a flea market, I bought about 2lbs of wheat pennies and 1/100 were steel. They all have a fair layer of tarnish on them making them look grey not silver like yours.

It wouldn't make a difference as the mercury is still sealed and expands with the heat and contracts without heat.
@@guyincognito7771 When you depressurize the chamber, the chamber will cool down, which will make the mercury fall down for a bit. However, once the thermometer is in the vacuum, you actually won't have a medium to transfer any heat. Usually, a thermometer changes its temperature through convection, but without air around it to carry any heat (i.e., without the mechanism FOR convection), it'll become unreactive to changes in temperature. Heating the chamber up with a hot plate can prove this.
The only practical way to heat it back up would be to shine a lot of light onto it, like with a laser, but since there's no air to carry the heat away, it'll have no way of cooling back down, except through infrared light emission, which is quite slow. Interestingly, you could speed up its cooling by putting it in a cold black box because it would be receiving much less light than it emits. I'm not sure the speed-up would even be noticeable since it's already so slow, but it's what'll happen.
