- ON the crime-ravaged streets of Britain's shoplifting capital, beleaguered business owners no longer turn to the police for help.
In Cleveland, where shop theft is skyrocketing along with the rest of Britain, offenders are "dealt with round the back" and swift summary justice can be acquired for as little as £1 a day.
None of this, of course, involves the police, who traders tell us they no longer trust to protect their businesses from an "out of control" crimewave.

Razor wire in a shop. Now I’ve seen it all
The police won’t like this it makes them look bad. They cost millions but don’t achieve much against crime.
Their primary purpose is to act as the muscle in the street to enforce a politician’s will. They are not there to protect the public. Look at France. Who does Macron send out in the streets to beat on working people with sticks when they protest?
I worked at Sainsburys for 6 months and felt like I was in Brookyln. Now I'm working at a shopping mall where is much less busier. Retail shops are really a tough place to work. So many drug addicts come to retail shops to steal meat and alcohol. The police is allowing this to happen.
UK , a country you can be proud of, right ??? God shave the king!
Could be worse, it could be the USA
SO VERY VERY SAD THE WAY UK PEOPLE TREAT EACH OTHER NOW. Money the root of all evil
The barbed wire defence is good but would be much more effective if electrified via a handy socket.. Behind this first line of defence mines placed under mats would definitely prove effective. Do remember to act responsibly.- move and disconnect everything before opening and most importantly advise the family and workers of all devices including updates and modifications.
We resonate with you feeling alone and let down and wish you well in defending your business.
We need vigilante squads to start springing up
Wouldn't happen in Saudi.
Exactly they should be rounded up and sent over there.
They cant police and prosecute SHOPLIFTERS however they can with motor offences
I live 10 minutes from this area, 13 years of Conservative government coupled with police cuts and council underfunding. Yet the Conservatives always find tax cuts for their rich friends.
Theres no conservatives there, 😂
The clue is in the wording, who's in government ? It isn't the Labour Party. Cuts to local councils come directly from Westminster and the Tories .Local councils then have to cut their cloth accordingly by cutting back services like the police.
@@GoonyMclinux With regard to your unthinking comment and given your posting name, you have obviously been abducted by aliens and anally probed. Thus hurting where your brain resides. Best wishes.
your mistaken for thinking any other party is better....
@@vinces8030 Why? They've improved nothing in the last 13 years, its the reverse.
Imagine a small child getting caught up in that razor wire...
Go back to good old counter service shops, and the problem will disappear in no time.
But then they'd have to pay staff !
They’ll just jump the counter lol
It's like a scene from Still Game, in the shop of the Indian guy.
😂
Click bait. I came here to see shoplifters getting a proper pasting, not to listen to people moaning.
What town is this??🇺🇲
The Police don't care so why should the shoplifters?
Bring back the real Gangsters. Protect your business now 👍
is worst than Africa.. is UK so bad?? yes. this will never happen in some EU countries..
Police class shoplifting as low priority unless the thieves are being violent. It'll go to the bottom of the pile of jobs if thieves have made off. A lot of drug dependent shoplifters are brazen because the need for the next drug fix surpasses any threat of arrest...
It's not for the poor shopkeepers though is it :( I remember being in my local shop when a woman brazenly walked out with several shoplifted items under her coat. The staff couldn't do anything, I tried to take her photo which sadly didn't work as it was dark and she shouted that I couldn't do that as it was 'against her privacy', lmao. Couldn't make it up if you tried.
Also for some people stealing is a drug. People can actually get addicted to shoplifting. What a pathetic society we live in when we can't punish crimes, and deter crimes with appropriate punishments. If people were made to do 100 hours of unpaid work for every £10 they stole, that might be a start!. Bike theft and shoplifting are both frequently ignored, which gives the crooks the idea it's ok, let's' carry on doing it. The police forces going soft on shoplifting ought to spend a week working in these shops.
Because there to busy prosecuting motorists were there is billions of pounds a year in fines
I'm sorry but I didn't understand anything he said
Police are just for show there’s lots around parliament no hundreds sorry but just for show
Capitalism, democracy, order....
Not like in barbaric Russia
Those are minor. Why bother the police.
