Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.
This video is intended as Entertainment only.
And in today's episode of 'why is this in my recommended 15 years later?'

Because it's a maaad video
I searched for it

It's really amazing to see just how far Mighty Car Mods has come since these days. You mentioned that some fans had thrown you a party when you reached 100,000 downloads, imagine the party now... Seriously, you two should be extremely proud of yourselves. Just look at what you've accomplished in the past 6 years.
Can't believe this was 6 years ago ! The show has grown to such degree since !
I can't believe it's been 7 years..
Actually it's still 6 years,
Video was march , it's not March yet
sigma1239 7 years now
+south park fan dude thst was 9 months ago.
i know
0:33 you don't need to install a pump in your non-turbo car to install a turbo gauge, you can just let a piece of that hose hang from the ceiling and blow into that when you are driving.
LOL
ynoter all WRX's (and STi's) are turbo, only RS or a lower spec Impreza wouldn't have a turbo.
Kayne Davis rs turbos....have turbochargers in em....
DoughboyD16 holy fuck
And now its 10 years later
Even 13 years after itsade I still look back you your videos as how to guides. I'd love to do what you do
Rare JDM nuggets and tea light holders to heat up hoses. Still awesome viewing after all these years.
14 years later and still in my recommanded, amazing
Hey boys. I get high and I come back to y’all’s start and watch the good old days I found y’all when I couldn’t even reach a pedal. Thanks for everything
could be anything! your best bet is to find a good local mechanic or the acura dealer and get them to check out whats going on... mechanics have a heap of tools and diagnostic devices so they'll be able to sort you out
Anywhere that has power swtiched by the ignition is fine, otherwise the gauge will stay on even if the key is off.
Most mechanical boost gauges(like the one in the video) measure vacuum as well as boost. In an naturally aspirated engine, a vacuum gauge can indicate the health of an engine as well as ideal throttle position for maximum fuel efficiency.
The first ever MCM video I ever watched, and have been hooked since. 2008!!!!
Remastered versions of these episodes should be released. That would be awesome!
Who came here from the LOLEVO gauge install
me
yep we sure can. we would probably use a sandwich plate and the gauge would be electronic instead of mechanical.. will keep it in mind!
Crazy to come back to the diy's years later when i discarded this channel since they went to commercial good on em though.
Accidentally tap on this video while watching Golf Vent Gauge install and what a epic intro, editing and camera you're using in this vid.. It's so nice to watch this old vids, this is what kind of videos I'm started watching from this channel.. What an 11 years old video😍, keep it up MCM!
Holy throwback
This is gold, these were the best how to videos!!
I learned many things in this video that helped me installed my gauge in the car. It's a cool little accessory to have in a car. I posted the installation of my gauge on my channel. Thanks guys for sharing.
im the only here after 19 years
Your original videos are still just as helpful as ever.
yes on older diesels with a mechanical injector pump connect the T piece to the hose between the injector pump boost compensator and the air intake, you may have too look around a bit to find it.
remember watching this while learning to put a boost gauge on my old GC8 WRX. now im putting a turbo on a BRZ.
you guys.. seriously.
Man this is great right here. Throw Back man.
Major throwback hahaha still watching these videos
chances are the factory gauge is electronic so probably more trouble than its worth to try and replace, why not just ADD another. more accurate gauge like we've done?
Coming back to this is awesome!
Hi guys! Just want to say that since watching this video I have installed my own boost gauge and it looks maaaaad! Also love you entire video series keep up the good work and cant wait for season 5!
just installed one of those in my s13,took me like 10-15 min to do it,easy :)
yeah basic autoguage... relatively accurate and not too attractive to thieves!
looks like its straight from the 80's with that green thing on ya head mate!
you need too make a vid on how too install a turbo kit:)
that would help a lot of people
other than using the boost gauge and controller together. the gauge would be pretty much useless. It would be mostley for looks. Although if you know how much boost your car is supposed to be running stock, than the gauge would help you see if you may have a boost leak somewhere, if it's reading below the boost it's supposed to be. I hope I helped you out. Sorry if I went into too much detail, I just got into it hahaha
i got back to this after i just got my new prosport gauges for my 240sx XD good thing you guys made this
Came up in my feed so had to watch it again 10 years later
The hose that is being used is for windscreen washer , vacuum hose or emission hose is better as it has a higher temp rating .
Seeing this 12 years later
Some old school Might Car Mods action!!!
Holy crap you guys were so dorky back then, Actually exactly like everyone else back then, so not dorky :) I love watching old episodes
you need to have a turbo. if you have a turbo, it will work :)
@NFORSA Done this already mate. Have a look on our channel. Cheers.
Old school video from you guys ..but still good..
Coming from 2021. 🖖🖖 Everything will be great ❤️
@nick5452 Yes. Just type MOOG into the iTunes store and the album will come up. It's called "The Sea Brings Rivalry"
@mjdaubney a good easy place is useing the same wire as a aftermarket amp or sub connects to.. the REM connection
not sure exactly what wiring you mean, can you give more details on what it is you want to do?
@iSypha for some reason I think the boost gauge actually helps hp a little bit. Someone correct me if i'm wrong but I was getting ready to turbo my car and I installed a boost gauge first and it reads vacuum so I took it for a little ride and notice a slight difference in power. I think when you acclerate, some air is compressed in the lines of the boost gauge and when you let go of the gas those air are suck back into the engine+ the next gears incoming air helps it.
You guys are so far from where you are now... Congrats
@iSypha They display boost
Oh My!!! It's possible??? I was searching for how to install a turbo gauge and I found this video. Then I saw your faces and I realize that you guys remember me some videos about a music band called Cannibal Culprit, you know, Gyro Jones, the crazy noodles video. Ok the name irongav bring me all this to my mind. Funny to see you guys making mechanical videos instead music. Although, very good and fun video. Thanks
I love the vibes on this .. credits roll and all 😂
As far as the boost gauge, I personally would only add one if you were to add a boost controller. by using these two instruments together you would be able to saftley up your boost. you would be able to read the gauge too see how much boost is going through your car and you would be able to adjust the boost with the controller accordingly with what you want. But be very careful. too much boost can blow the turbo. read up on how much boost your car can saftley run how it is.
It would be cool if you guys made a "how to install cruise control" video. \m/
I use a brick :)
Yea you can install an aftermarket BOV on any turbo charged car, as the bov realeases the excess pressure from the turbo. basically air, it has nothing to do with the type of gas a car uses. Performance wise it won't change much. it would only help if you were to run more boost(pressure), the bov would be able to hold more boost than a stock bov. If your running a stock setup, than it may make it sound a little louder(psshh!! sound) but this all depends how much boost your car comes stock.
Hahahahahaha watching your old videos. Its like watching retro Neighbours 😂 Still great stuff though.
BACK IN THE DAYS! THE GOOD OLD DAYS!
i love mighty car mods! best videos on youtube by far!
I watched this when I was a kid now I've got a car and relearning their ways
Who’s here is 2019
Joey Boi I’m here in 2020
2020
@amiskorolla It's cool i didnt even realise you weren't english speaking until you said so.. maybe for sedans, but for 4x4 diesels i have heard from people who have done it is that it sprays diesel in the engine bay.
@saga212 yer 4 something :P we actully tuned the turbo down cos the factory one got damaged and was replaced wit an after market one so we tuned it down cos this new one is really powerful and because it mostly just dos runs to and from the city it dosnt need the 30psi available all the time if you towed huge loads or were offroading yer have it up high but for road use 9-12psi is good enough for just getting around
I love ur old vids guys❤️
you guys need to make a episode that shows how to change the gauge cluster colors from stock to L.E.D =)
Don't forget there is a difference between diesel and petrol boost gauges.
Diesel gauges don't show manifold vacuum only boost whereas petrol gauges show both
Holy shit 14 yrs ago that’s crazy just now popped up
These videos are fantastic, good work! Please, for the love of god do more!
can you do a install of a Air Fuel Ratio gauge... maybe with a wideband o2 sensor as well to get a proper reading :) cheers boys... even go as far to install a oil press and water temp too, hehe
Dude you guys look so young it's crazy
Wow.. these old episode are so... tame xD
At least 10 years and no music change...time to update guys
can you make a video on how to read a boost gauge, like exactly what its telling you and what it means? and the difference between mpa and psi
Samuel Lee suuuper late, but if ya don't know that then you don't need a boost gauge ;) Google is your friend though
Samuel Lee are you a moron..?
That gauge needs a gauge so it can reed boost while reading boost.
Anyone hear in 2020
No I'm deaf
put the vaccum tube in the exhaust if you have a non turbo car! makes it look like you have tons of boost
u guys have to do a seat leon cupra R from year 2000 it's a beast
Any chance of doing a video on how to install an electronic boost controller? also thanks for this vid
well, u can use a vacuum meter instead, if u want to install in a NON turbo car.
2019 and still watching this !
back in the day
I like how they use to go by Mighty Mods and not Mighty Car Mods
You guys should have found the wire that only turns on when your headlights turn on. That way the gauge lights up when you need it.
@lalex222 Type 'gtir plumbing' into the search and its the first video to come up.
Guys can you do a video on oil pressure gauges and oil temperature gauges?!?! Mad! Thanks
This is not a "How to" video. Lol..
Ahh... early Moog. Rocking that chav look eh
lol
a pump under your seat^^
great stuff:)
what sort of brand is it?
AutoGauge? I have a tach from AutoGauge in my car
Damn this takes me back son
I wish they kept to this style
why is it in my recommended 100 years later
green is often the backlight
black is often the ground
red is often 12v
Can someone give me the link to the video where they show how to connect the vacuum line to the throttle body?
I have realised that you guys have not done a turbo timer kit install yet? PLEASE FOR SEASON 5
you guys should make a how to install cold air intake systems
@mjdaubney use a fuel pump fuse or something that where i run wires they will turn on when the key is on and off when u turn the key off
Wow old videos man
Thanks for the recommendation in 2022
