My leachie is 57.1g today (had her since she was 13.1g) and I hold her fairly often, but she seems to shy away from my hand rather than climb onto it. Yesterday she did that breathing thing leachies do when they're upset for the second time ever (first was the day before that). Her enclosure is right next to my bed and computer, so I spend a lot of time in super close proximity to her. I wonder if I should just hold her more? I interact with her everyday. I love how your girl will just crawl into your hand. I guess I'm looking for advice from a more veteran leachie owner. She's a voracious cricket hunter btw.
Sorry I just saw this. I hand fed Olivine pretty often as a baby. I'd take her out, let her get some good licks of a fresh batch, and have her finish it in her house. Leachies are weirdos. Yours might start getting "tough" during "puberty" and start guarding his/her enclosure. At that point maybe open the door and hold some fresh food close by (watch your fingers though lol). See if they come out on their own. Olivine gets in moods. Some days she wants out, others not. Some days I take her out she wants to chill, others she runs across the couch and jumps back into her cage lol!
They just do that for a while and go through a phase lol my leachie Rook did the same thing and acted tough for like a month and then snapped out of it because I just kept handling her and she learned that when she put up a fuss it didn’t deter me from doing anything so she just stopped being a Grumper.
