Thanks man lol I went and watched the video after reading your comment about No Halo and proceeded to cry for an hour because of how relatable and painful the video is, but I needed that, so in all honesty, thanks.
Sorority Noise has a special place in my heart, a few days ago I was dangerously close to suicide and what they make is what’s keeping from trying it again, I’m trying to stay positive but it’s hard to do when you feel everyone hates you and no one cares about you. I know I should get professional help but I can’t afford it financially. I’m losing my feeling of reality and self, but what they do is more than just make music, it makes me feel. Something I thought I could never do again. I have bipolar and no other song besides “No Halo” can make you understand what it’s like, the confusion, the helplessness, the emptiness, and the craziness. Sorority Noise is one of the best bands because what they make isn’t to make money, it’s about talking about your issues and how they make you feel. Like this comment, I needed to say this, yeah it’s a UA-cam comment but something infinitely more, it’s me. It’s how I think, it’s how I feel, and it’s what I want. I thought delete it no one cares but I’m trying to change my thinking, feelings, and wants because if I don’t, I won’t live to see past the year.
i started getting into sorority noise a couple years ago and i now have literally all of their songs memorized, theyre 100% my favorite band and it makes me so happy to see people still talking about them now :)
had old gray play in my bedroom in california in 2013 and cam did an acoustic sorority noise set right before and it was beautiful. they were my favorite band at the time so having them play in my bedroom and having conversations with cam and charlie is something I’ll never forget. Anytime I saw either of his bands and tried to buy merch they would refuse to take my money and give it to me for free. I still have it all. Old gray and sorority noises music has helped me in ways that no other band has ever done. This video was beautiful!
Oh my God, I didn't know you finally did a video about them. Sorority Noise makes my heart hurt in all the right ways. My ex overdosed October 2018, and the last message he ever sent me was a link to Black Heart Black Lungs. I missed the message and first saw it after I saw Sorority Noise for the first time. I miss Scott so much it is insane. Then my best friend Brent overdose last August. So yeah, I'm in a long-term relationship with grief, and it is definitely a toxic relationship.
I know I’m late but I whole heartedly hope you are doing as good as you can be. with everything in the world going on I wish you everything that you’ve dreamed of. Cheers, Saul
I talked to Cameron at University of Hartford a few times and he was always so sweet to me and quiet and he never talked to me like I was some annoying fan even though I sort of am and it made me feel like I belonged. This was around the time of the release of Joy Departed when I’m pretty sure his life was falling apart even harder then usual (I’m not sure of this, I’m going off the liner notes and some of the subjects of You’re Not As). The lyrics of a lot of these songs, in particular songs on You’re Not As and slow burn helped me come to terms with a lot of problems I’ve had with Borderline and PTSD that I had a lot of trouble expressing at the time. The way his lyrics are very specific and bridge intellect and emotion so seamlessly is something you rarely see. Very David Foster Wallace-ish in a way. What he did as described in the allegation was totally wrong, and I’m almost sure he would agree, but there are some nuances in this situation in particular that shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s also important to note that the victim of this situation did not even want this information to get out, and instead was initially spread by someone who evidently didn’t give a shit about that. But overall I think he is a good person who made a bad mistake and I will always be grateful for his music and how he treated me when he was possibly at his lowest, which takes strength that, right now, I can only dream of
All I’m gonna say is, punktalks is a very unique organization... Definitely look some stuff up about them on reddit if you haven’t. I honestly don’t know how so much of it never got more attention, but yeah.. good rabbit hole.
I found Sorority Noise at one of the lowest points of my life. Cams lyrics helped push me to take a real look at myself and why I felt that way. I could relate to so much of his life story that it felt like I was viewing my own thoughts from an outside perspective. Each song was like a mirror allowing to understand Cam and myself a little better. While finding Sorority Noise didn't change my life, I feel like I owe them so much for the peace of mind they helped grant me. Thanks for talking about one of my favorite bands Nate :)
Joy, Departed is one of my favorite albums of all time. When I listen to music, I hardly ever like a full album... But Sorority Noise did just that for me. It helped me get through so much, and I can always just lay down and find myself lost in the music as I let each and every song play.
Awesome video man! Sorority changed the way I viewed music and life in general. A life-changing band. 🙏 Keep up these videos! Love each and every one 😊🤙
sono is one of the only bands i’ve really related to on such a deep level. i love how honest cam is, listening feels like home. the first time i ever heard forgettable i listened in full and immediately bought it in every form of media possible so i could always listen to it
Another great video m8. Another reason I think they came up is hoe amazing their live performances were. They put so much passion and love into every show. It helped the messages they shared in that you felt what they were talking about but also saw how it affected them right there in front of you. (Just watch their audiotree session) Seeing Your Soft Blood and When I see You live are some of the best live performances I have ever seen.
I remember when I first listened to Sorority Noise in art class I cried because I was looking at the life of a severely depressed person from the outside but over time ive dealt with so much stuff to where the lyrics are sort of comforting as a way of understanding people can feel the same that i do
So, without being over-dramatic or anything, I've followed Cam throughout most of his career thus far and his music has helped me so incredibly much. I will have endless love for this man and his music forever.
dang. this video was uploaded a day after one of my really good friends birthday. a few weeks before hand, we had an hour and a half long conversation about some things we'd been going through. and in that conversation we exchanged bands and artists that we wanted each other to listen to and funny enough found out that we were both listening to SN a lot. idk. just a funny coincidence i guess. i really enjoyed this video, as i do with all the other ones. i really admire all the hard work and dedication you put into them. thank you.
their song "using" literally made me fall back in love with Rock, i stopped listening to rock for a while but we were working on a car at my buddies and he had spotify on shuffle and that song came on and i said "Wow" this is me!
tbh the 1st song I heard by Sorority Noise was "A Portrait of" in a CoD montage, I started listening to the song, then the entire album, then all albums. I fell in love.
I was a freshmen when I preordered YMA_AYT, listened to no halo because it was the only song off the album available but that song got me through high school
I saw them live once like 4 or 5 years ago and it was beautiful. I've had many days where my mental health has been really low and there music is the only thing that got me through it. I eventually am going to get a Sorority Noise inspired tattoo. Its broughten me close to myself, and it's made me a better person.
This is honestly crazyily beatiful, Nate. Ive watched this video THREE times. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL with that guitar playing in the background ughh whats that guitar in the background. Beautiful bideo dude
I found sority noise by accident when I saw them open for modern baseball I heard blond hair black lungs and got chills down my spine was a fan ever since
I 1,000% believe they shouldn’t have been canceled. Still beyond bummed how they got absolutely no chance for retribution, despite acknowledging/ apologizing/ doing everything possible to undo the harm (through miscommunication) that was caused. Cam is such a great dude and I hope he’s doing ok.
NATE! Have you heard Rodia by Swordfish? Probably one of if not my favourite emo albums ever, just love it. It’s actually produced or mixed by Cam as well if I’m not mistaken. You might like it too!
another excellent job fellow nate. they are a band that have been on the periphery for me but i will definitely check them out now. i know that they and MOBO were good friends but can you explain the video at the end with jake and ian talking?

ok so nearly halfway through the video there's acoustic music in the background and It sounds really good and somber. would someone please inform me of what it might be or if it's not actually a song
Im late but, Out of all the accusations in the scene, Cam really handled it in the most mature way and didn’t deserve to be burned at the stake. If there’s a race to heaven I will always come in last is a chilling lyric
It's up there with the last lyric of King Park by La Dispute.
"Can I still get into heaven if I kill myself?"
Connor 100% agree. That lyrics still gives me the chills when I hear it
