We have 19 Kia Niro hybrid . It's front wheel drive only . It sounds like the same powertrain . It does not have an EV option . But the battery never runs down . It's recharging on a regular basis . I live in Canada , there is a battery reset button that I've never needed . It doesn't have a 12 volt lead acid battery , but instead has a small addition to the lithium battery . Great video yet again. Could you please review the 2024 Hyundai Sonata please, some of us don't like SUVs. It is very rare to see a sedan review these days.
And driving a hybrid around a test track is probably the worst possible scenario for a hybrid. Other publications have gotten below 3.9 l/100km around town. (See the Carsguide Kona Hybrid vs Jolion comparison - Kona 3.6 l/100km, Jolion 5.2 l/100km)
Everyone lost their minds at the Tank 300 rear tyres leaving the ground during an emergency stop, but I bet no one will make a fuss about this car doing it. Hmm.
I just bought the hybrid N Line Premium. I love it. I fuel up every 3 weeks, so much cheaper. I drove other cars before I purchased, Toyota Koba was terrible, Toyota Cross was uncomfortable, the Kia Sportage was going to my second choice, but hybrid variant there was a big wait.
At 17:26 minutes the left rear tyre loss contact due to emergency brake test - have never seen this before! Can Hyundai Australia please provide an update? This cannot be safe!

I gor this exact car when i had my old xtrail written off and soemone who ordered this didnt take it. I also own a 2024 rav 4 hyvrid. The kona is noticably slower but handles better and i love the re-gen control. The fuel economy is better than the rav. I often hit low 4s getting acroas sydney in the daily commute. I prefer the cockpit of the kona to the rav, the wireless android is clutch Overall a great car and i love the look,i wouldnt have picked the green if i had the choicebut im glad i have it now.. The keyless approach is great as is the centre console. The speed alert is annoying and frustrating it cabt be set off by default. I have the settings screen mapped to the star on the steering wheel for ease of use during startup
My girlfriend just bought one of these over the Corolla Cross for two reasons; the Corolla Cross is a stupid price with the “Toyota tax” they’re charging now for the wait times, brand name, etc. and the interior was nicer and more refined in every way compared to the cheap plastics and dated interior the Corolla Cross had. She doesn’t care about the lack of “N” performance, she just wanted a comfy and nice place to sit while driving a hybrid and this smashed the Corolla Cross in that which cost significantly more.
Do I like the shape? Yes Would I get the "tennis ball" yellow? My order paperwork says Yes. - I went Premium N-Line though. Edit: As for the speed alert. And this is something that every Australian and American review I've seen has pointed out... yes if you switch it off it defaults back to ON at restart. Choose the Top setting the speed alert only works as part of the adaptive cruise so if you are driving without cruise it becomes less in your face. And this setting doesn't revert to the "full annoyace middle setting"
People need to understand that N-Line and N series cars are totally different ...... N-line is NOT a performance model , it is simply a higher spec in terms of equipment / finish . The car in this video is an N-Line so of course it isn't a sporty drive ........ poor wording by Hyundai for sure , they should have kept the N for the performance cars and called the N-line some other name . Enjoyed the review though .
Granted the car looks cool and probably performs spectacularly but those head and tail lights have been strategically placed in the positions where they will be most likely to be damaged in an accident. I see very few cars on the roads that haven't had damage to the corners of the bumpers. I can imagine parking the car and coming back to it only to meet it with broken light because of another driver coming out of a parking space behind or in front of your car. Greedy manufacturers trying to exploit the drivers for replacement parts.
Just don’t like the rear turn indicators being positioned so low for few Hyundai cars , sometimes for cars at the back in a slow moving traffic it’s not easily visible.
100% agree , my 2022 Tucson is a great car but those indicators are also way too low , god only know what Hyundai were thinking !! At traffic lights the cars behind have NO idea if your indicator is on or not ....... how hard would it have been to incorporate them into the brake lights !!!!!! it is the only thing about my car that i dont like.
DSG, no thanks! You should add a “traffic jam” test to your format, where you operate in stop start traffic mode crawling forward. After all, that is something a lot of us experience on a daily basis and I have found DSGs struggle with. They constantly hunt up and down in the gears. Give me a Toyota eCVT any day.
Hi car expert Apparently the Gwm tank 500 hybrid has landed in Australia I know of one in GWM headquarters in Melbourne. Any chance you can do a test drive/ review on that?
Somewhat quirky styling. The spoiler design is over kill, but there's no piano black and there's a spare tire!! Two ticks there! Nice interior overall but the yellow colour really does only belong on a tennis ball. Another engaging review. Thank you!
I'd like to ask if it's possible to have an EV with a generator connectid to it that charges the Main motor without needing to stop & charges it when the battery power goes down & stops charging automatically when the power is enough, without having an ICE for the generator to run, & if you get home with a lower battery you can charge it in the garage with the main motor having a clutch that it disengages it from the wheels, so you can charge it in the garage. It can also have a home char- ging capability. If needed. This way there will really never be range anxiety. Is that possible or not? No need for outside char- ging stations right?
Can we all boycott Hyundai and Kia until they remove the stupid beeping warning every time it thinks you're speeding? Other manufacturers simply have a small visual warning. ANCAP doesn't require an audible warning. It would drive me INSANE!!
Every car reviewer should be mentioning these BS "safety" systems. Lane keeping is the worst, downright dangerous when it thinks it knows better than you and attempts to nudge you into oncoming traffic.
