I live in Valrico and the flash flood was crazy. The street is still completely flooded. It came within a few feet of the door. We are VERY inland.

Those flood stages is why one should always look at the historic flood maps before purchasing a home down there. As a previous residential plumber... most of Florida is built within a leveled swamp.

The highest elevation in Florida is Britton Hill at 345' above. The Everglades, which is a low-lying area, has an average elevation of around 20 feet, but most of Florida is not below sea level.
