Love your reactions. Before the 1970s, pistachio nuts were imported from Iran and other Middle Eastern countries to the United States. They were dyed red to hide unappetizing discoloring. When America started to produce their own pistachios, the dyed them also because that is what consumers expected. Now, our pistachio nuts are not dyed.

Ahahah so people found it weird if they were not red?! 🤔 I've never seen red pistachios actually, here in Portugal they are not dyed.

I always thought they're eating regular peanuts, that's how they were in the 80s. You salt and roast them with the red skins on. You can eat them with the skins, but some people didn't want to eat the skins, or wanted to avoid the salt, so you'd roll them between your fingers to get the skin off and throw it on the ground. But it wouldn't explain the red lips.

19:55 that's not lipstick. That's the red dye from the pistachio shells. Red pistachios were a popular snack in the US back in the 80's and 90's. And at 20:08 those were the shells they threw out after eating the pistachios.

Just wait a minute! Weird Al did not just "used to make" parodies, he is making them to this day. And with his amazing genetics, in his 60's/70's he still looks like he is in his, at most, 30's. He is so much more talented than most of the comics we have today, and even has that little thing called, a sense of humor.

Prior to Airplane, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Robert Stack and Leslie Nielsen were all dramatic actors. This was their first comedy.
“Airplane! (alternatively titled Flying High!)[5] is a 1980 American parody film written and directed by the brothers David and Jerry Zucker, and Jim Abrahams in their directorial debuts,[6] and produced by Jon Davison. It stars Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty and features Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Lorna Patterson.[6] It is a parody of the disaster film genre, particularly the 1957 Paramount film Zero Hour!, from which it borrows its plot and central characters,[7] also drawing many elements from Airport 1975 and other films in the Airport series. It is known for its use of surreal humor and fast-paced slapstick comedy, including visual and verbal puns, gags, running jokes, and obscure humor.”
