Got my first Vette in 1980. I'm on my third one now. A Corvette has a special transmission, high performance rear axle, great aerodynamics, often a better weight to power ratio, more "grip" (traction) due to wider tires, and finally, "A Corvette engine."

C5 are one awesome cars to build on. They are super light, extremely aerodynamic. It does not take much to make them take on hellcats on the strip. Or you can make them into tracks monsters.
True, but they will not last long at 1000hp with stock pistons and rods. Many folks run up to 800whp without issue, but right around 700wheel is where you see some cars start to fail, especially forced induction like mine. It was suggested and recommended by the vast majority of guys Ive spoken with to not push over 700 without forged pistons and rods at least. Mine makes 600 and I plan on going e85 and cranking it up a little but staying under 800@@exoticspeedefy7916
I’ve got C5 Z06 with a built 402 LS2 making 600HP. Rear end and 6 speed manual are built too. It’s a street killer not much can take it. People underestimate the Z06’s capabilities. They are monsters, I surprise the shit out of cars that are 5 to 10 times more money.
What’s funnier is if that C5 was the C5Z06 he would have gapped the Cat even Further 😂. Curb weight 3100 ibs with 405hp factory. Like having a Miata with 300hp just a fun go cart with AC. I love my 02 Z06

For real, they were unbelievable for $50k. A good friend had #46 built in I think 2002 or 03. I believe they only made around 1400 Z06 in the C5. He only put a couple thousand on it and sold it. I told him he was a fool to sell it.

Drivers car for a bone stock car thats 20 years old. They are great for power and for handling. I kept up in a roll bone stock vs my friends s550 5.0 with the 10 speed auto till about 135 when it pulled past me. Cam/heads with full boltons you can get about 450 wheel hp and they keep up with 600 hp modern cars. They are light as hell.

The beauty of the corvette is the t56/tr6060. That vette sounds like an auto but when you can hit 60 in first and 90 in second and have the torque to move thru those first two gears, it's hard to beat. Light car and great gearing ftw. Probably half the bhp as the dodge and still took him. 😅

Yep, Mine is just vortech supercharged and I run with hellcats np. The tall 6th gear is tough for top speed but its a rocket to 150.
