I've never heard of these but it is so far up my street I'll definitely be giving it a go, I know for sure I'd have more gravy than you but that's just personal choice. Thanks for a great vid and so nice to see you tasting instead of Ian, feel it's only right after you've done all the hard work! lol

I love seeing these regional recipes! Bet it tastes great!
I live in London and saveloys with pease pudding was eaten here years ago…don’t believe me…Google it! My dad was very partial to it!
Our local butcher’s still sells saveloys and I always eat the skin! It’s beef collagen (you can get plastic skinned ones though!).
Love this Amanda and your stock also looked amazing! I never roast my cooked bones but think I’m missing a trick, will give a lovely dark colour. Will give that a go x

To the best of my knowledge Saveloys are more commonly encountered in the south of England, particularly sold from fish shops. I know that the only place where I have found them in Yorkshire was on the menu in a newly opened fish shop that had been opened for just about two week’s by an ex Londoner who had decided to open up shop in a place on the outskirts of Sheffield. The last time I went past the shop it had been closed and reopened as a curry house.

This take mes back! As an office junior in the North East many years ago I was the one the older girls sent to the local butchers to get savaloy dips for their lunch. I'm sure they tasted lovely but scampering back to the office clutching paper bags of the things, dripping with grease, trying not to heave didn't encourage me to ever try one. Looks like I missed out - yours looked great Mandy! And needless to say, savaloys are as rare as hen's teeth down South.

Local variations are interesting in food. In Lancashire, a good pea soup is ham hock, re-hydrated green peas, onion, celery, carrot and swede, served with crusty bread, or over a potion of chips. Secret serving ingredient is a good squirt of vinegar. Up your way, it seems its always yellow split peas and you make the 'peas pudding' . I have seen nothing like this, nor those sausages, very interesting indeed. When you served up, my first thought was a spoonful of apple sauce on it..... like pork and stuffing baps etc,
I'd love to try this. Big LIKE here 😄

We bought saveloy dips with pease pudding and the top dipped in gravy. They are the best saveloy that I have ever tasted and my grandson loves the.
