I had mine for six years the first day I took mine out fishing daughter, dropped it in the ocean no never had a problem with it. 😊 just bought another one yesterday at Walmart for $54 for my Christmas gift from Santa. Told my daughter to wrap it.
100%, for the money they can't be beat. I have 5 Black Max Combos- never bought just the reel, I always get the combo
That combo will catch just a big of fish as any other for a third of the price.

That Black Max is one of those things where you can say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"! I always buy my reels alone, I choose the rods based on the lures I'll be using. Not many fish give you a 2nd chance, most of the time it's like a drag race, you get 1 shot at it, Lol.

Just bought the black max and max x. Plan on having one braid and one fluorocarbon.
Q1. What braid lb. Do you use?
Q2. Also since fluorocarbon sinks and braid doesn’t which rigs do you use for each?
I fish often but I’ve always used spinners reels with worms, shrimp, live bates etc. sorry for all of the questions but haven’t found a video that explains what I’m looking for. Definitely going to follow.

Is it better than the ABU Garcia MAX X or the MAXZ or is the Black Max ⁉️🤔 wich one all under $80 where I live. And after a 7 year I think the MAX Z for my first one. My son likes his Black Max that's why I'm thinking about the other one.
To be honest there all great reels it all just depends on your budget but personally think abu garcia reels will never disappoint
I wouldn't say its the "best reel for your money", Its a decent entry level reel for people new to bait casters. But in the long run your better off spending the extra and getting a reel with better drag and brake system.
