Hi BecauseBeca Be Beca! Small world here, my mom is actually from Greensburg Indiana, and my father grew up in it as well. My grandmother lives there and so on. I have know of these people involved, and have heard of the stories involving the kids/mother. It’s sickening/sad, and there’s obviously a lot more that goes beyond this whole show.
I'm clearly in the minority judging by ratings, but I don't understand the appeal of shows like this, or most of the TLC/A&E reality lineup. From my experience, the people I've known who watch these kinds of shows, sort of watch them to feel better about themselves, and that makes it even worse for me. It just further stigmatizes mental illness for obvious reasons. Especially with the reality TV process of over-production and over-dramatic editing behind it (scary sound loops, jump-scare swipes, uneasy color grading, and using the same sound effect library as most ghost hunting shows). I remember back when intervention was huge. I watched a few episodes, and all I could think was how the show intentionally misrepresents people who suffer from addiction by picking the worst of the worst for ratings. What's worse is most of the family members clearly didn't even write their own lines they were reading from during the intervention. They read the lines like actors from a Neil Breen movie. lol. Now that that's off my chest, I enjoyed this video. You should do more like these on similar TV shows. I like how you noticed and pointed out a lot of the subtle production stuff that most people miss. I used to care for my aunt full-time and she'd watch shows like this, and I'd notice so much of this stuff. I drove her so batty pointing them out all the time that she stopped watching these shows while I was on the clock. I considered it a win. 🤣🤣
Thanks for this super thoughtful comment! Yes there’s definitely other videos like this I want to make, it just takes sooo much time and the algorithm likes things fast so it’s challenging to keep up!
Making money off of abusing people. The show ought to be sued! And any therapist involved should lose their license and maybe go to jail. I thought therapists were licensed and paid to help people with mental health problems, not abuse and traumatize them more. And Over fisical things, for money and a show. Reality TV at it worst! Its like watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame but the bad guy.... is still winning and winning awards! And making money publicly for what he's doing. Bit of a weird reference, but sometimes it shocking and disturbing how the world is still has not charged on how it treats the down trodden. I love that you did this video
