I have the Radio Shack all in one hand mike radio where all controls are in the mike. The main body can be installed under the seat or in a compartment. Pretty cool set up.
Like any other company , Radio Shack had some good stuff and some bad stuff , but their good stuff out weighed their bad stuff . When they made the good stuff , it was excellent . I definitely miss the Realistic equipment , that's for sure .
I can’t speak for the 29 lx series but the uniden 980ssb screen washes out in daylight, i gave it away because of that, but all in all it was a decent performer, but I did replace it with a Galaxy 959 which is far better.
Honestly I prefer LED display over LCD display in the mobile, especially in areas that get really cold in the Winter months. Cold weather plays hell with an LCD display .

@@RaccoonsRadioRanch is there less static and less interference and better reception with CB radios that transmit on FM ? There are some days in the summertime that I can't talk any further than 200 yards on my Cobra 148 CB radio because of static, interference or solar flares, etc.

If this list were for "Classic" radio's , and not for "New" radio's that can still be bought at stores and online ... but then it's still got other radio's like the Tram D201 to compete against , and I've also always liked the ARF2001 as well . There are a lot of great radio's to consider when doing a list of Top 10 radio's from the past .
I have a 1pill old skool amp and a conexx general Lee. Low low budget radio but talk skip with the big boys all day strong with only about 250 watts, small watts but a big signal in dx land 006pickuptruck got down
One thing ever one want on a cb radio is it has NB noise blanker remove the static in the receive ANL only make is sound less it don't do the job that a NB does
The President Grant is a good radio , but this video was for current CB radios that can still be bought in a store (or online) . I'm going to make a video in the near future focusing on good vintage radios to buy too .
The president also has variable power and is much better than those galaxy junkers that drift all over. That is if you actually want a SSB unit that you can use.

Galaxy still makes some nice export radios . But they've also been making a few good regular 40 channel CB radios for the past few years as well . in my opinion , if the 29 LTD had single sideband in it , I would have put it in the number 1 spot . It's one of the longest running , reliable radios ever produced . But since it's only an AM radio , it got the spot it's in . But if someone only wants an AM radio without SSB .... then I highly recommend the 29 based on it's performance and reliability .

If you want a kickass NB, find yourself a good working President Grant (vintage) 120 channel AM FM SSB model, the PC999AB or PC999AC.

would not buy the cobra's with no side band. all of these are now out of date with F.M. coming in.
I never buy a radio without sideband , but I've said that in my videos before . I don't know why , but there are people that prefer AM only radios .

I don't mind the meter , or the radio .... they're usually a great preforming radio . I just wish it had SSB in it as well .
Me either which is why I bought a Galaxy 959 this time. Love that big meter and the audio is loud yet crystal clear 👍
