@@RaccoonsRadioRanch Just thinking back to the wild an wooly days of being absolutely fascinated by CB radio in the early 70s. Monkey Ward catalog had a "fall open to" page with a Midland Base Station I had drooled over a hundred times. Yeah, I owe myself one.

I remember many kids' radios running on CB radio frequencies like channel 14 and 9. They ran on a 9volt battery and had about 500milliwatts of power. One of the big name ones was a GI Joe radio and one no-name brand came with those green plastic soldiers. There was also one for police and another for firemen play.

OMG I have been on CB since 1969. I started out with a 3 watt 5 channel Allied walkie talkie by Radio Shack. This was before they renamed it realistic. It kicked ass. I lived in NYC and had a 16 story building a block away from my 7 story building. I used to go up to the roof and that thing was booming. I found out most of the locals hung out on Ch 15 so i had to buy a crystal for it In later year it proved handy tracking some of the local idiots. I was getting out better than some base stations back then and the band wasn't as noisy either. I doubt I would be able to get out up to 20 miles with that radio on that same roof today. As far as the TV commercials go I honestly don't remember them I remember the radios from Lafyette and Radio Shack. Most if not all the RS radios were made by Cobra/Dyanscan and in later years Uniden. My first real radio was a Sonar FS 23. It was the first 23 channel radio they made. It was big and bulky and a tube radio. Two years later they came out with the FS 23-40 40 channel radio. They were not cheap and hand built. Right now i have a Cobra 148 GTL modified but not sure if it still works and i have a Magnum Delta Force that works but all the back lights are blown out and they are no longer and i can't find any places that work on them. I recently got a President Lincoln II+ from Walcott and running a Little Will till I get a Wilson 1000. Yup 52 years of CB Radio. I may get a Ticket so i can legally work the 10M band :)
