Feeling the same sentiment as you. Obviously, it still needs to be good automotive fiction, but the lack of entertainment available for car guys in recent years has been noticeable to me.
Closest I can think of off my head is MF Ghost, which itself is a sequel series to the manga Initial D. That’s to say nothing of Fast & Furious, Bullitt, and Speed Racer (1967), which were big for me when I was a child, and I also just discovered Future GPX Cyber Formula.
Must be terrible for you car guys out in the UK right now. The US and Japan are looking better and ICE seems to be staying for the foreseeable future in those territories, but there are still people who want any and all non-EVs outlawed. I’ve had ideas in my head about auto-centric stories and write very well, but have never pulled the trigger on it. If you have any advice or ideas for self-publishing like your ULEZ book, what would it be?

      Absolutely go for it!!
I've struggled for a long time to get my first novel out, but after decades of false starts, I think I finally figured out the formula - at least one that works for me ua-cam.com/video/F8nBE2ZuOdQ/v-deo.html
As for self-publishing, Amazon makes it ridiculously easy. It's utterly straightforward. The difficult bit is promoting and marketing the book - what traditional publishers do so well. This is the bit I'm trying to figure out now myself and the main reason I went to the conference. I think I have a few ideas which I will be trialling over the next few weeks.
Wish you all the best of luck and look forward to seeing your work soon!

    1) Choose a traditional publisher. 2) Don't be tempted to use supplementary skills - it's easy but erodes trust. 3) Aim for wide distribution and sales.
