Just rediscovered this song in 2021. After the awful year that was 2020, I’m gonna let this song carry me into the new decade

her makeup in all of these dignity tour videos looks so good
I remember always listening to this song in my room blasting it with a hair brush in my hand singing along while staring at my wall of posters of her. She brings back so many memories. Wish I could go back in time(:

Hilary is still and always will be a great example of a disney star, she isn't slutty. That's the main thing, pretty much and she's got a really good head on her shoulders!!! (dont even think about replying to this about her lip syncing) theres enough of you judging on that here.) She's amazing! She does sing, be happy she trys to sing what she really can! Love her lots! As cheesy as it sounds, this song helped me come out of the closet back in the day!!! This song got released in 2004, i came out as gay(I always knew)but in 2007, I was ready, around Christmas. :) even though she doesn't have any writing credits on this song, I'm happy SHE sung this one! I know this song by heart. Used to always listen to her when I was younger. Why playback and lip-sing? She has such a good voice. The music is so damn loud. You can only hear her voice when the music stops and it gets to the slow parts. What the heck. I wanna hear the real live voice!! Especially the good high parts.

she's not lip syncing, the audio is just late, you could allready see that in the talk part she did before she began singing.... and im pretty she wasnt lip syncing what she was saying. That some people thinks she does that only shows how great she sings live.

She's definitely live, I saw her live 4x, definitely sounds different than in recording. She is actually pretty good. May not be a "powerhouse" like some others, but at least she can carry a tune and actually sing, unlike some others...

As one of Hilary’s biggest fans, literally since Lizzie Mcguire, at times i think she’s lipsyncing, but then i hear bridge and transition into the last chorus and know she isnt. She is just one of those that sound studio quality no matter what setting she’s in.
Huge Hilary lover. But no. She doesn't fully sing live. She sings along with her backing track. She also sings live during her tech rehearsals and lip syncs to that during her actual shows to give it that "live" sound. Thats why it kind of sounds like there are three to four Hilarys singing at once. On top of her actual back up singers. Not knocking it by any means. Id do it too lol. Pretty much all singers do.

Instead of automatically accusing of her lipsyncing.....maybe she's just one of those artists who sounds great live and in the studio.

Alot of this song may have some correction but I've seen her live, shes actually just really good. Also what makes a difference is I know she USED to record WITH the band, which alot of artist dont do so, it all blends really well.
And if by chance she is lip singing, shes playing a song she recorded in her teens. I'm not even mad.
The earlier parts sounded like the playback was too loud. Starting 3:58 was when we finally can hear her real voice.

She sings the verses and bridge, as you can tell by her catching her breath and going slightly flat at some parts (which isn't a bad thing). The chorus is where she lip syncs, as suddenly, even as it is the most intense part of the song, she doesn't take the sharp breathes she was taking, and is in perfect pitch. - I love Hilary, but she does lip sync. Not all of it, but some of it. :)

Well to be honest... the truth about this vid is so simple! Her voice is live BUT TUNED!!! they tooked the original voice recording from the concert and they tuned her voice through a studio program (like autotune etc)
That's possible, BUT she IS an amazing singer though! She really is! And...compared to other "artists", she can actually sing....

She never does the belt during the bridge: it's always "let go of yester" and then the chorus. Her vocal abilities are okay but they are not stellar. Every live version of the song sounds incomplete without that belt.

Nah she just has amazing backing vocalists. But that doesn't change the fact that she is a great live singer. I thought she was lip-syncing until I looked so closely and realized her lips match to every single sound throughout the entire concert and saw her struggle through some of the lower notes (especially during Reach Out). I don't think anybody is capable of lip-syncing so perfectly and in fact, she was terrible at lip-syncing in her live shows before the Dignity Tour.

A lot of Disney artists (hilary, cheetah girls and high school musical cast) use pre recorded live tracks when they know it will be professional recorded. It's not a crime.

You know she can just make breathing sounds with the playback to make it sound real. This is probably a pre-recorded track as the singing quality sounds too different than when she was speaking. Some moments do sound live though.
