yes but taking way too long to admit issues and correct them. Also I think this is good once the issues have been corrected, but why is GM going back to something different again like an 8 speed transmission? Yes great video.
the 10r80 im assembling now, the balance marks on the carrier assembly are confusing me. the carrier has an etched square and a drilled hole and a drilled dibit all witrhing 6 inches of each other. so im confused which one im suppoosed to align to the square on the outer housing. So i just lined up the two squares seems to make more sense. luckily you say in this video you dont think it matters much. Im a tech for an independent dealership, i dont rebuild many transmissions so this video has help immensly thank you!

We did not have the vehicle for 2 months. Ford covered everything, including our rental car. Their total for labor, parts, and rental expedition was about $16,000. We paid nothing, and we have a brand new transmission with a 3-year unlimited-mile warranty.
@@yokleysautomotive 100% - I can't believe people like this condone these automakers to make poor quality so long as they fix it and give you a lackluster warranty, when the same vehicle that was made 20 years prior would go 10-20 years with no major issues.
Hi, I have a 10r80 in a 2022 F-150 Powerboost. It has an Acceleration shutter when stepping on the gas at highway speeds. Any input would be appreciated. Thank You for this video.
My 2024 10spd makes whining noises from new. New pump and idler gear between pump and input shaft was changed but it still makes whining sound between 40-60km/h. Also it when slowing down for a corner it will clunk downshifting which i believe is when it shifts from 5-4 or 4-3 somewhere there.
What parts would need to be upgraded in the 10R80 transmission to get it to last 150,000+ miles? How would they need to be changed? Would it be material change like aluminum to steel? Putting bearings on both sides of gears? What should we know? Would you post a list? Thank you.
How much of an increase in durability and hardness does the black anodizing of the trashcan/clutch sleeve make? Does it increase it by 500 miles or 1000 miles or 100,000 miles thank you.
@bobwas4066 can you elaborate on the press that you're asking about? Is it the blue bracket that's bolted to the bellhousing that you're inquiring about?
I have had people ask about that press before. You could easily make one by using threaded rod and some c-channel. I believe the c-channel is 6", but it might be 5". These were actually GM tools that we've had around forever. If I were to build one, I would make the side supports longer than what I have in the video. It would be easy to modify with some square tubing with some threaded rod welded on each end to make it adjustable. The difficult part to affordably source would be the adapters that I use to press on the piston return springs. These are also GM special tools that I've had laying around forever. They are expensive from Kent-moore tools, and they still seem to go for over 100 bucks on ebay. They could be made if you have a place to source scrap metal and came across some tubing. And that's assuming you have a welder as well. Adapt a case makes some good tools that might be worth looking at.

Sounds like you should put it up for sale, or trade it in, exactly 1094 days from when it was installed.

Sounds like a noise from the gearset. If it was the pump, it wouldn't be vehicle speed dependent. It would be engine speed/pressure dependent.

Friends 23 duramax with 10 spd dont make any sounds. Mine probably lemon lol
The whine is normal, has to do with how the gears are cut for performance. As for the clunk it's probably needs a slip yoke regreasing..

You can visually see the concept. What do you need "plans" for? Make one that fits your particular needs.

What about the CDF drum? And the valve body problems? Aren’t they faulty/defective and poorly designed and built?
So is there anything wrong with this transmission? I do not see anything amiss.
This is why it’s 9 grand for a reman unit .
