I put Zerex Dex cool in my 2015 Grand Cherokee after Changing my Thermostat since I had it for my GM Vehicles and it didn’t mix well with the Mopar coolant, I got a Brownish sludge in the Overflow tank and under the Radiator cap. I flushed the System and put the Purple Mopar coolant back in and all is good now. I guess not all OAT coolant is compatible with each other.
The current Mopar coolant is an OAT type coolant in which is basically Dex-cool except it's purple. The coolant that Stellantis uses is technically called G30. which is nothing really special. Dex-cool is a GM trademark for a line of OAT type coolants. Not only GM use Dex-cool,some Ford cars and trucks also use it too. In North America the closest product one can find for newer Stellantis products is Zerex G30 and Dex-cool. Both are chemically similar.
My top hose n bottom went hot during bleed when i was done i shut off vechike removed funnel started jeep frove for 45 mins n bottom hose staued cold and wouldnt warm i even changed thermostat
You seem pretty knowledgeable, thanks for this video! ButI have a question. My jeep has been running hot off and on. First time it was the thermostat, problem solved. Several months down the road again same issue, and was the thermostat again, solved! Several months down the road again, took it to a mechanic and he swore it was the water pump and so we replaced it. Still running hot. However, if you touch the top radiator hose it's scalding hot but the botttom don't get hot at all. You can even touch the radiator cap and it's not even hot. Was going to do a coolant flush on it and see if that would fix my problem. What woud you reccomend? Do you think it will fix my problem or should I do something else?
i just changed my tstat and bled system with the funnel method. been driving for a week (in jersey) and upper rad hose gets hot, lower rad hose is cool. temp gage hovers around 1/3-1/2, no overheating. Do I still have air in my system?
How is your heat working? In the colder weather it’s totally normal for one hose to be cool as the thermostat will only open partially when it needs to, to maintain temperature.
Good clear video, thanks from another Jersey guy. Is there a concern that 6 qts of old coolant is still in the system, or do you just replace more often to address this issue? Also would you replace the upper and lower radiator hoses, and heater hoses at the same time? I'm at the 100k mile mark and the hose replacement seems like cheap(?) insurance if an amateur like me can do this in the driveway.

Ii had the same luck.. scared the $#!+ outta me
For $3 more I would just buy the Mopar Factory Coolant. Dexcool is not exactly what Chrysler uses. Dex is a GM product.

Jeep requires HOAT coolant I thought
Can I just take off the resivior without fushing the system?
How did you put reservoir back on as far as all the hose go
Great Video! I have a question - I have the 2019 and it has that reservoir bottle and cap. Is this method safe for that set up as well?
You don’t need a spill proof funnel for those! Just make sure you keep the degas bottle full and don’t put the cap back on until both hoses are hot!

Is it cold where you live?

Sounds like there was air somewhere in your system
